This paper describes an ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna that uses a ring resonator concept. The proposed antenna can operate in the entire UWB, and the IEEE 802.11a frequency band can be rejected by inserting a notch stub into the ring resonator. The experiment results indicate that the measured impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna is 17.5 GHz (2.5 GHz to at least 20 GHz). The proposed UWB antenna has omnidirectional radiation patterns with a gain variation of 3 dBi (1 dBi to 4 dBi).

A microstrip feedline based open ended folded-slot antenna is proposed for ultra-wideband (UWB) applications. The prototype of the proposed antenna is fabricated on the FR4 dielectric substrate. The proposed antenna has a wide n-shaped slot that is useful for designing circuit components on the same printed circuit board (PCB) as that of the radio frequency (RF) modules. The proposed antenna use two kinds of slots as radiators, and each slots have different characteristics because of the different type of ends of the slot. The wideband characteristic can be obtained by resonances of each slot which are occurred at different frequencies. The measured impedance bandwidth (S11≤ -10 dB) is 2.9-11.56 GHz, and the antenna peak gain is 2-4 dBi over the UWB range. The antenna has a stable omni-directional radiation pattern and only a small group-delay variation across the UWB passband. In addition, we present a modified design with band-notched characteristics of a 5 GHz wireless local area network (WLAN) frequency band.

In this paper, a miniaturized bow-tie monopole UWB antenna with band rejection characteristic is proposed. To miniaturize the proposed antenna, a perfect magnetic wall(PMW) condition is applied to primitive bow-tie monopole antenna. An uneven ground patch, a tapered feeding structure and a edge-chopped main patch are adapted for impedance matching. A quater-lambda slot resonator is inserted at main patch to prevent interference in UWB band from another band. The proposed antenna is fabricated on Taconic RF60-A substrate with relative permittivity of 6.15. The size of the proposed antenna is $30.0{\times}39.7mm^2$, which is only 45 % of the conventional bow-tie monopole antenna. The proposed antenna covers full UWB band with return losses less than -10 dB and has band stop characteristic in 5 GHz WLAN band. The maximum gains are within -1.0~5.0 dBi, the group delay variations are within 1.0 ns and the radiation patterns show directivity characteristics in x-y plane.

Band-notched ultra-wideband (UWB) antennas using frequency selective surfaces (FSSs) are presented. The proposed antennas utilized the band rejection characteristic of typical FSS unit cells. We loaded the FSS unit cells on the same plane of planar UWB antenna. These antennas are designed to reject the interference from the wireless local area network band, 5.15-5.825 GHz in the UWB band, 3.1-10.6 GHz. The measured peak gains of the proposed antennas are more than 2 dBi at both operation edge and center frequencies, and sufficient to apply for commercial purpose. The antennas are small size and planar shape for the purpose of the small mobile application, and enhanced design freedom by using various existing FSS unit cells.

In this paper, a planar half-circle shape ultra-wideband(UWB) antenna fed by CPW is designed, fabricated and measured for UWB communications. Within the UWB band(3.1 GHz${\~}$10.6 GHz), 5.15 GHz${\~}$5.825 GHz frequency band is used by IEEE 802.1la WLAN applications. It may be necessary to notch out this band to avoid interference with IEEE 802.1la WLAN. Therefore, we have proposed three kinds of UWB antennas having a notch function, such as a rectangular slot, a hat-shaped slot a circle-shaped slot. The notch frequency of the proposed antenna can be adjusted by controlling the slot length or slot width. From the measured results, the proposed antennas show a good gain flatness except the IEEE 802.1la WLAN frequency band and have a reasonable agreement with simulated results.
In this paper, we designed and implemented an ultra wideband (UWB) antenna with 5G mobile communication and WLAN bands rejection characteristics. The proposed antenna consists of a planar radiation patch with two slots, parasitic elements on both sides of the strip line and ground plane on back side. The upper n-type slot contributes for 5G mobile communication band (3.42~3.70 GHz) rejection and the lower n-type slot contributes for wireless local area network (WLAN) band (5.15~5.825 GHz) rejection. Parasitic elements were used in order to satisfy the voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) less than or equal to 2.0 for UWB band (3.10~10.60 GHz) except two rejection bands. The Ansoft's high frequency structure simulator (HFSS) was used for antenna design and simulations. The simulated antenna showed dual rejection bands of 3.36~3.71 GHz and 5.13 ~ 5.92 GHz in UWB band, and measured result for the implemented antenna showed dual rejection bands of 3.40~3.72 GHz and 5.08~5.858 GHz. Simulated and measured VSWRs are less than or equal to 2.0 for all UWB band except dual rejection bands.

In this paper, an inverted-triangle patch UWB antenna with an uneven ground planes and an inverted T-slot for 5 GHz WLAN band rejection is presented. The operating bandwidth of the proposed antenna fed with the CPW line is expanded from 3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz for about -10 dB return loss using three angular parameters correlated to the main patch and the ground plane. The fabricated antenna on Taconic RF-60A substrate with 6.16 relative dielectric constant and 0.64 mm thickness has a main antenna patch size of 36 mm${\times}$19.5 mm. The measured results show return losses of about -10 dB and nearly omni-directional radiation patterns. The proposed UWB antenna has advantages of easily adjustable impedance characteristics by the three angular parameters and easily accomplishable band rejection characteristics by the inverted T-slot.

In this paper, we propose a modified rhombus slot UWB(Ultra Wide Band) antenna with fork-shaped feeding structure. The proposed modified rhombus slot structure is eliminated upper and lower part of the basic rhombus slot shape to get ultra-wideband characteristics for UWB communication. Also, feeding structure is used to fork-shaped structure to get ultra-wideband characteristics. The antenna is designed on an FR-4 substrate of which the dielectric constant is 4.4, and its overall size is $34mm(W1){\times}34mm(L1){\times}1mm(t)$, and its slot antenna size is $30mm(W2){\times}16.75mm(L3+L4)$. After the optimized process, the proposed antenna is fabricated and measured. Measured result. fabricated antenna satisfied -10 dB impedance bandwidth in UWB frequency band (3.1 ~ 10.6 GHz ). And measured results of gain and radiation patterns characteristics displayed determined for operating bands.

In this paper, a design method for a compact log-perio dic half-bow-tie dipole array antenna for an operation in a UWB band(3.1-10.6 GHz) is studied. The proposed antenna is miniaturized by using half-bow-tie shaped dipole elements instead of strip-type dipole elements, which are commonly used in a general log-periodic dipole array(LPDA) antenna, and by reducing the element spacing. The effects of the flare angle of the half-bow-tie elements and the spacing factor on input reflection coefficient and realized gain characteristics of the proposed log-periodic antenna are analyzed. The optimized antenna is fabricated on an FR4 substrate, and the experiment results show that the antenna has a frequency band of 2.95-11.31 GHz for a VSWR < 2, which assures the operation in the UWB band. In addition, the length and width of the proposed antenna are reduced to 32.1 % and 18.3 %, respectively, compared to the LPDA antenna.
