GNSS-UWB Hybrid Positioning System for Indoor and Outdoor Seamless Positioning (산업현장에서의 실내외 연속측위를 위한 GNSS-UWB 하이브리드 측위 시스템)

  • In this paper, we propose a GNSS-UWB hybrid positioning system for indoor and outdoor seamless positioning. Fusion of GNSS and inertial sensors has been widely used as a method for estimating positions in places where GNSS reception sensitivity is low, and UWB technology, which started as a short-range wireless communication technology, is widely used indoors where GNSS is completely blocked. This paper proposes a method of mutual correction and fusion of the location information collected through GNSS and the location information collected from the UWB indoor positioning system when indoor and outdoor work occurs continuously and repeatedly, such as in an industrial site.

The Research of the UWB Interference Effects on the Mobile Communication System

  • Ultra wideband (UWB) technologies have been developed to exploit a new spectrum resource in substances and to realize ultra-high-speed communication, high precision geolocation, and other applications. The energy of UWB signal is extremely spread from near DC to a few GHz. This means that the interference between conventional narrowband systems and UWB systems is inevitable. However, the interference effects had not previously been studied from UWB wireless systems to conventional mobile wireless systems sharing the frequency bands such as Cellular CDMA and Korean PCS. This paper experimentally evaluates the interference from two kinds of UWB sources, namely a direct-sequence spread-spectrum UWB source and an impulse radio UWB source, to a Cellular CDMA and K-PCS digital transmission system. The average frame error rate degradation of each system arc presented. From these experimental results, we show that in all practical cases UWB system can coexist with Cellular CDMA and K-PCS terminal without causing any dangerous interference.

  • This paper, mathematically analyzes the performance of newly proposed TR-UWB system which the frequency components of a UWB pulse were processed so that the system could be implemented with ADCs of a few MHz sampling rate, and presents the comparison with an existing frequency-domain based TR-UWB system. The comparison is mainly based on the SNR ratio which depends on the mean and the variance of the frequency components. We also shows that the simulation results to support the theoretical analysis where the comparison is made under the IEEE 802.15.3a channel model as well as AWGN channel.

  • Ultra Wideband (UWB) Radar is a high-resolution radar for short distance detection which uses signals transmitted and received by each antennas in order to detect a target. It is possible to detect the respiration and heartbeat of a person without contact It is getting more and more often utilized since it is not affected by physical environment. In this paper, we implement an algorithm to detect human respiration and heartbeat rate using UWB radar signal. We process radar signals reflected from human body using Median filter, Kalman filter, Band Pass filter and so on. We also use CZT to extract breathing and heart rate. ECG (Electrocardiogram) was used for comparison of heartbeat data and we confirm that each data of ECG and UWB Radar were more than 98% identical each other.

  • In this paper, UWB system did research about effect that interference effect with neighborhood single equipment or group equipment gets in broadcasting communication service. For this, 2.6425GHz SDMB(Satellite Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) that a special of electric wave interference is near frequency-band including interference of signal by unnecessary radiation level that is radiated in UWB system, and degree of 3.4125GHz broadcasting relay net that is In-band frequency-band and interference effect that get in service analyzed comparison and, modulation of broadcasting relay net and interference measurement equipment used Impulse and OFDM methods. Impulse method was $BER\;=\;1{\times}\;10^{-4}$ that broadcasting signal receiption is possible at 1.4m point because interference effect happens from 2m point in SDMB system, and it was $BER\;=\;1{\times}\;10^{-4}$ that OFDM method receives interference effect from 0.8m point and broadcasting signal receiption is possible at 0.5m point. Also, about Gap-Filler center frequency, In case of space interval more than 0.01m, there was no interference effect. Therefore, for the electric wave of UWB system that is small output applies to system without interference effect in broadcasting communication service, confirmed that UWB system of OFDM method is less interference effect than UWB system of Impulse method.

  • UWB(Ultra-Wide Band) system is transmitted using Gaussian monocycle pulse of very short pulse duration less than 1 nsec. Therefore, transmission signal has ultra-wide band spectrum to GHz band of very low power and not interfere with the existing communication system. A collision of multipath waves in UWB system with tarrier frequency very different with general wireless communication system. In this paper, the BER(Bit Error Rate) performance of UWB system applying Binary Phase Shift Keying, Quadrature Phase Shift Keying, 16-Quadrature Amplitude Modulation method under multipath channel using computer simulation is compared and analyzed.

  • This paper introduces M-PPAM(M-ary Pulse Position and Amplitude Modulation) architecture, combined PPM(Pulse Position Modulation) with PAM(Pulse Amplitude Modulation). Since M-PPAM can transmit several bits using one pulse, it is mon effective than PPM or PAM. Also, to obtain the same data transmission rate with PPM or PAM, M-PPAM can use a long pulse repetition period. This method will be able to use in the multi-path fading environment such as indoor condition. To accomodate multiple users, direct sequence technique is used. This paper has provided the modeling method of the M-PPAM DS-UWB receiver covering multi-user interference(MUI) with the Standard Gaussian Approximation under Gaussian channel. The performance of the receiver is simulated.

  • 본 논문에서는 제한된 전파자원을 가장 효율적으로 사용할 수 있는 유력한 후보로 떠오르고 있는 UWB(Ultra Wide Band)무선기술의 도입을 위한 미국, 유럽 및 국제전기통신연합(ITU)에서의 규제정책 동향을 소개하고자 한다 특히 채근에 미국 FCC에서 제한적 범위의 주파수 사용허가가 이루어진 것을 계기로 UWB 무선기술 상용화가 활발히 이루어질 것이므로 이와 관련하여 FCC의 전파 규제 제도를 분석하여 소개하였다. 또 IEEE산하 802.15.3 working group에서 진행되고 있는 무선 개인 통신(Wireless Personal Communication)방식으로 UWB 시스템을 사용하기 위한 표준화 작업에 관한 최신 동향도 소개하고자 한다.
