주파수 저지대역의 특성을 가지는 UWB 안테나 개발

  • U-물류/유통, U-항만에 핵심적인 기술이 될 Ultra-Wide(UWB)통신을 위한 광대역 안테나를 설계, 개발하였다. 설계된 안테나는 UWB 주파수 대역인 3.1$^{\sim}$11.7GHz 대역에서 안테나 특성을 만족하고, IEEE 802-11a와HIPERLAN/2에 의해 사용이 제한된 5.15${\sim}$5.825GHz 대역에서 주파수 저지 대역을 가지기 위하여 U모양의 얇은 슬롯을 복사 패치 위에 구현 하였다. 제작한 안테나는 5${\sim}$595GHz 대역을 제외하고는 안테나의 특성을 만족한다.

  • 기존의 마이크로파 대역의 전송 용량이 포화상태가 됨에 따라, 더 넓은 주파수 대역의 초 광대역에 대한 시스템의 요구가 커져가고 있다. 따라서, UWB(Ultra Wide Bnd)를 이용한 기술은, 향후 무선 통신망에서의 멀티미디어 통신을 가능하게 할 광대역 무선 통신 시스템의 기술로 발전하고 있다. 이러한 UWB 기술과 fiber-optic 기술과의 접속은, 더 넓은 주파수 대역의 제공, 다 많은 전소 용량 및 저잔송 손실이라는 측면에서 큰 장점을 가지고 있다. 그래서, Radio-on-fiber 시스템을 위한 연구가 많이 진행되고 있는 추세이다. 최근들어, 음성, 데이터, 영상을 포함한 멀티미디어 통신에 대한 요구가 증가되고 있다. 이러한 요구에 부응하기 위한 방법이 광대역 통신인데, 광통신이 하나의 방법으로 대두되고 있으며, 기존의 마이크로파 대역의 전송량이포화 상태로 됨에 따라, 더 넓은 주파수 대역의 UWB 대역의 시스템에 대한 요구가 커져가고 있다. 따라서, HS 논문에서는 이러한 UWB의 신호 생성을 위한 광 주입 방법을 제안하고 시스템의 평가를 위해 전송거리에 대한 CNR(Carrier-to-Noise Ratio)에 대한 페널티를 분석하였다.

Interference Avoidance Technology Using Cognitive UWB in Ultra Wideband Systems (Cognitive UWB 기술을 이용한 UWB 시스템에서의 간섭 회피 기술)

  • Wireless Communication is playing a key role in implementing the ubiquitous society. However, due to the increasing wireless and mobile devices occupying the spectrum, the frequency resources are believed to become more and more limited. In order to deal with the problem, coexistence is considered to be a effective method to improve the efficiency of spectrum utilization between several different systems. Here, we utilize the UWB system to realize the coexistence, because it is an ultra wide band system which can co-exist with other narrow band systems. On the other hand, Cognitive Radio technology is an intelligent technology which can sense the spectrum environment and adaptively adjust the parameters for wireless transmission. In this paper, by using Cognitive UWB, the spectrum efficiency of the transmission channels is largely improved; Furthermore, the interference to other systems can be effectively avoided.

  • UWB 시스템은 매우 넓은 주파수 대역에 걸쳐 스펙트럼이 발생하기 때문에 기존에 공존하는 협대역 시스템의 신호로부터 간섭의 영향을 받게 된다. 이는 협대역 신호가 UWB 신호 대역폭에 유입되는 부분 대역 간섭으로 고려 할 수 있다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 협대역 간섭 모델을 대역 점유율에 따른 부분대역 간섭으로 모델링 하였으며, 협대역 간섭 점유율에 따른 TH binary PPM UWB 시스템의 성능을 분석하였다. 또한 강력한 오류 정정능력을 갖는 Turbo code를 사용함으로써 성능 개선 정도를 평가하였다.

Design of a Half-Circle Shape UWB Antenna (반원 형태의 UWB 안테나 설계)

  • In this paper, a planar half-circle shape ultra-wideband(UWB) antenna fed by CPW is designed, fabricated and measured for UWB communications. Within the UWB band(3.1 GHz${\~}$10.6 GHz), 5.15 GHz${\~}$5.825 GHz frequency band is used by IEEE 802.1la WLAN applications. It may be necessary to notch out this band to avoid interference with IEEE 802.1la WLAN. Therefore, we have proposed three kinds of UWB antennas having a notch function, such as a rectangular slot, a hat-shaped slot a circle-shaped slot. The notch frequency of the proposed antenna can be adjusted by controlling the slot length or slot width. From the measured results, the proposed antennas show a good gain flatness except the IEEE 802.1la WLAN frequency band and have a reasonable agreement with simulated results.

  • Recently, ultra-wideband(UWB) technology based on the transmission of short duration pulses has gained much interest for its application to wireless communications. Various wireless communication and wireless broadcast will require more efficient use of frequency. Cognitive radio technology is an intelligent technology which can sense the spectrum environment and adaptively adjust the parameters for wireless transmission. In this paper, by using Cognitive UWB, the spectrum efficiency of the transmission channels is largely improved, and the interference between the other systems can be effectively avoided.

An UWB Design of Plane Bow-Tie Monopole Antenna (평면형 보우타이 모노폴 안테나의 초광대역 설계)

  • This paper proposes a planar bow-tie UWB antenna by modifying the ground patch of a reference bowtie-monopole antenna satisfying low band of UWB. The proposed antenna was implemented with five-angled ground patch to be operated in whole UWB band, while the reference antenna had a ground patch of half circle type. The measured return loss satisfies less than -10 dB in 3.1~10.6 GHz, except 4.9~5.8 GHz rejection band. The measured radiation pattern is almost the same with that of the monopole antenna. The radiation gain reduction is about 8 dB at rejection band.

  • Deviating from the exclusive frequency assignment, UWB has utilized much wider frequency range, worked independently without interfering other frequencies, and simultaneously enabled to increase more than hundreds of Mbps data transmission rate. In considering its high data rate and no interference, UWB certainly has an infinite and technical potential. In this paper, we studied the UWB technology as well as its technological trend, analyzed UWB antenna, and actualized a small antenna for wireless video streaming devices.

  • The purpose of this paper is to analyze the performance of MB-OFDM UWB system when the interference signal that can be WIMAX signal or 4 G system signal is received by detection limit of -80 dBm/MHz proposed in Korea for DAA(Detect And Avoid) to permit UWB in $3.1{\sim}4.8$ GHz. MB-OFDM UWB system supports two transmission modes; one is TFI(Time frequency Interleaving) mode that transmits OFDM symbols using different carrier frequency from symbol to symbol according to Time Frequency(TF) codes, the other is FFI(Fixed Frequency Interleaving) mode that transmits OFDM symbols using a specific carrier frequency. In this paper, we considered the TX average power and the synchronization structure to reflect the effect of frequency hopping according to TFC. Interference analysis results show that the WiMAX system is fenced thoroughly from UWB interference in domestic DAA regulation, but the performance of MB-OFDM UWB system is degraded seriously by an interference signal with the DAA detection limit even in frequency Hopping mode that can get frequency diversity effect.

Design of UWB Bandpass Filter using CRLH Transmission Line (복합 좌우향 전송선로를 이용한 UWB 대역통과 필터의 설계)

  • A novel design method of ultra wideband bandpass filter using CRLH transmission line with Dumbell type DGS is presented in this paper. Defected Ground Structure and microstrip interdigital capacitor are used to design the ultra wideband (UWB) filter. CRLH transmission line has composite characteristics of low pass and high pass filter. As control of cutoff frequency of low pass and high pass response on CRLH transmission line, we can get characteristic of UWB filter. We designed and simulated for CRLH transmission lines with one, two, four, and eight cells. A UWB filter using four cells CRLH is designed and fabricated to verify the results. The characteristics of designed filter have center frequency of 5GHz and relative bandwidth of 88%.
