New lithography techniques are employed for the patterning of arbitrary shapes in nanometer scale. When, in the photolithography, the electromagnetic waves such as UV and X-ray are incident on the mask patterned in nanometer scale, the diffraction effect is unavoidable and degrades images of the mask imprinted on wafer. Only a convex lens is well-known Fourier transformer. It is possible to make the mask Fourier-transformed with the convex lens, even though the size of pattern on the mask is very large compared to the wavelength of electromagnetic wave. If the mask, modified according to new technique described in this paper, was placed at the front of the lens and was illuminated with laser beam, the nanometer-size patterns are only formed on the plane called Fourier transform plane. The new method presented here is quite simple setup and comparable with present and next generation lithographies such as UV/EUV photolithograpy and electron projection lithography when compared in attainable minimum linewidth. In this paper, we showed our theoretical research work in the field of Fourier optics, . In the near future, we are going to verify this theoretical work by experiments.

Titanium dioxide is a suitable material for industrial use at present and in the future because titanium dioxide has efficient photoactivity, good stability and low cost [1]. Among the three phases (anatase, rutile, brookite) of titanium dioxide, the anatase form is particularly photocatalytically active under ultraviolet (UV) light. In fabrication of photocatalytic devices based on catalytic nanodiodes [2], it is challenging to obtain a photocatalytically active TiO2 thin film that can be prepared at low temperature (< 200$^{\circ}C$). Here, we present the synthesis of a titanium dioxide film using TiO2 nanoparticles and sol-gel methods. Titanium tetra-isopropoxide was used as the precursor and alcohol as the solvent. Titanium dioxide thin films were made using spin coating. The change of atomic structure was monitored after heating the thin film at 200$^{\circ}C$ and at 350$^{\circ}C$. The prepared samples have been characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microcopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV-vis), and ellipsometry. XRD spectra show an anatase phase at low temperature, 200$^{\circ}C$. UV-vis confirms the anatase phase band gap energy (3.2 eV) when using the photocatalyst. TEM images reveal crystallization of the titanium dioxide at 200$^{\circ}C$. We will discuss the switching behavior of the Pt /sol-gel TiO2 /Pt layers that can be a new type of resistive random-access memory.
To manufacture of high-performance semi-structural double-sided adhesive tape, 2-ethylhexyl acrylate (2-EHA) and acrylic acid (AAC) were used, and the syrup was prepared by UV irradiation in this study. The effects of the thickness, various inorganic filler contents, and filler types on the semi-structural properties of acrylic double-sided adhesive tape were investigated. The peel strength increased with increasing thickness and wetting time. In case of the thin thickness (under $250{\mu}m$) with decreasing true density of inorganic filler, the peel strength increased with increasing wetting time. The initial peel strength showed a higher value at a big size of inorganic filler, and the filler's size in adhesive tapes was confirmed by SEM images. The peel strength and dynamic shear strength increased as a proportional relationship with various inorganic fillers and contents, and these inorganic fillers in $0.1{\mu}m$ thickness indicated more effect on the dynamic shear strength of double-sided adhesive tape. From these results the thin acrylic double-sided adhesive tape determined to be use for applications as a high-performance semi-structural.
UV-vis spectroscopy is one of the powerful tools for measuring the concentrations of reactant and products during a chemical reaction. However, there is an limitation of using the technique when the reaction undergoes in high concentration and high temperature. Color analysis using camera images can provide the identical results with UV-vis analysis with regardless of the sample concentration and temperature. The catalytic reduction reaction of resazurin to resorufin was investigated using the color analysis with the color spaces such as CIE L*a*b*. Moreover, the color analysis enabled the independent analysis of two different material's concentrations without the deconvolution of overlapped wavelengths unlike the case of using UV-vis spectroscopy.
Hair is made of proteins containing various amino acids. Ultraviolet (UV) radiation is believed to be responsible for the most damaging effects of sunlight, and also plays an important role in hair aging. The purpose of this study was to investigate the changes in morphological and chemical structures after ultraviolet B (UVB) irradiation of human hair. The UVB-irradiated hair showed characteristic morphological and structural changes, compared to those of the normal hair. The result from a scanning electron microscope (SEM) equipped with an energy dispersive X-ray diffractometer (EDX) showed that the scale of UV-irradiated hair appeared to be rough and the amount of oxygen element was higher than that of the normal hair. Fluorescence and three dimensional (3D) topographical images were obtained by a confocal laser scanning microscope (CLSM). In 3D images, the green emission intensity of normal hair was much higher than that of fluorescing UVB-irradiated hair. The intensity of green emission reflects the intrinsic fluorescence of hair protein. Also, a fluorescent imaging method using fluorescamine reagent was used to identify the free amino groups resulting from a peptide bond breakage in UVB-irradiated hair. Strong blue fluorescence of UVB-irradiated hair, which indicates a very high level of amino groups, was observed by CLSM. Therefore, the fluorescamine as an extrinsic fluorescence could provide a useful tool to identify the peptide bond breakage in UVB-irradiated hair. Infrared image mapping was also employed to assess the cross-sections of normal and UVB-irradiated specimens to examine the oxidation of disulfide bonds. The degree of peak areas with strong absorbance for the disulfide mono-oxide was spread from the outside to the inside of hair. The spectroscopic techniques used alone, or in combination, launch new possibilities in the field of hair cosmetics.

Ultra-violet rays are very harmful to eye health care. The blocking of ultra-violet rays and a reduction of optical reflection in the visible light range, which is to increase the share of transmitted light, and avoid the formation of ghost images in imaging, are important for the applications of polymer eyeglasses lenses. In this study, the high-refractive index polymer lenses, n=1.67, were fabricated by injection-molded method with the xylene diisocyanate monomer, 2,3-bis-1-propanethiol monomer, and benzotriazol UV absorber (SEESORB 709) mixture. To reduce the reflection of the polymer lens surfaces, multi-layer anti-reflection (AR) coatings were coated for both sides of the polymer lens using an E-beam evaporation system. The optical properties of the UV blocking polymer lens were characterized using a UV-visible spectrometer. The material properties of the thin films, which were composed AR coating layers, refractive index, and surface roughness, were analyzed by ellipsometry and atomic force microscopy. As a result, the fabricated polymer lens perfectly blocked ultra-violet rays below 395 nm with a blocking rate greater than 99%.
After anchoring 3-(2-aminoethylamino)propyltriethoxysilane (APTES) onto the surfaces of the channels within ordered mesoporous silica, SBA-15, we dispersed $Cu^{2+}$-perfluorophthalocyanine into the modified SBA-15 channels. From small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) patterns and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images, we confirmed that both the calcined and $Cu^{2+}$-perfluorophthalocyanine-incorporated SBA-15 samples possessed ordered periodic structures and hexagonal symmetry lattices (p6mm). The value of the $d_{100}$ spacing was decreased after the incorporation of $Cu^{2+}$-perfluorophthalocyanine into the modified SBA-15 channels. We used FTIR and UV-Vis spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) to characterize both the modified SBA-15 and the $Cu^{2+}$-perfluorophthalocyanine-incorporated SBA-15 samples. From scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images and $N_2$ sorption measurements, we found that the $Cu^{2+}$-perfluorophthalocyanine units were incorporated within the modified SBA-15 channels, rather than on the external surfaces of the modified SBA-15 channels.
In this study, we presented a newly synthesized pyrene-naphthalene diimide(NDI)-pyrene triad. The optical and structural properties were examined using various characterization techniques. A donor-acceptor-donor triad molecule exhibited a strong charge transfer, though there existed neither intramolecular nor intermolecular hydrogen bonding sites, due to the formation of preferential complementary complex between pyrene and NDI. Powder XRD measurement revealed a sharp and distinctive X-ray patterns, indicating the presence of microcrystalline-like structure. POM images showed anisotropic fingerprint texture similar to that of cholesteric phase, and SEM images showed numerous columnar structures with length of 1 to $10{\mu}m$. Above observation clearly demonstrated that ${\pi}$-complementary NDI-pyrene interactions in the traid was strong enough to form columnar aggregates in the long range.
The ZnO thin films doped with Ga(GZO) and both Ga and Ge(GZO:Ge) were deposited on glass substrate by using RF sputtering system respectively. Structural, morphological and optical properties of the films deposited in the same condition were investigated. Structural properties of the films were investigated by Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy, FE-SEM images and X-ray diffraction, XRD analysis. These studies showed shape of films' surface and direction of film growth respectively. It's showed that all films were deposited by vertical orientation strongly. It can be confirmed that all dopants of targets were included in deposited films by results of EDX analysis. UV-Vis spectrometer results showed that all samples had highly transparent characteristics in visible region and have similar 3.28~3.31 eV band gap. It was found that existence of all dopants by EDX analysis. Morphology and roughness of surface of each film were clearly shown by Atomic Force Microscopy, AFM images. It was found in this research that film doped with Ge more dense and stable with hardly any difference in gap energy compared to ZnO films.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the changes in properties of silk fabrics dyed with safflower red and yellow colorants under Ultraviolet(UV)-light. Silk fabrics dyed with safflower red and yellow colorants were compared with each other after uv-light exposure in terms of K/S value, color changes(${\Delta}E$), morphology, and strength retention. The K/S value rapidly decreased with increasing exposure time for samples of both colorants, but the extent of decrease was less for the samples dyed with safflower yellow colorant, than that of the samples dyed with safflower red colorant. Regarding the color changes with increasing exposure time, $L^*$ and $b^*$ increased, $a^*$ decreased, and thereby ${\Delta}E$ increased in the red-dyed samples, whereas $L^*$ increased, $a^*$ and $b^*$ decreased, and so ${\Delta}E$ increased in the yellow-dyed samples, indicating that the UV-light induced fading and changes of hue, value and chroma value. However, the color change of the yellow-dyed samples was less than that of the red-dyed samples. SEM images showed a severe degradation by UV-exposure for both colorant samples. Tensile strength slowly decreased until 14 days, but rapidly decreased thereafter. Strength retention of the yellow-dyed samples was higher than that of red-dyed samples.
