Development of Data Logger System for Ocean Bottom Seimometer (해저면지진계 데이터 기록장치 개발 연구)

  • A digital data logging system has been developed for the purpose of a compact offline Ocean Bottom Seismometer(OBS). The Digital Data Logger(DDL) consists of A/D system, Micom with storage memory and firmware managing data files. The A/D system acquires data of 16bit/4ch with sampling rate of 250Hz per channel. The Micom, a micro controller board with T33521 processor of 8051 class, was equipped with 8 flash memories of 128MB for data storage capacity of 1GB. The firmware stores the acquiring data in form of binary files. The DDL was designated to be compact and light and to consume low energy as possible. The DDL is to interface with PC through USB(Universal Serial Bus). The performance of the DDL has been validated through tests with respect to a 3-axis seismometer.

The Reduction Method for Radiated EMI in USB Power Line of Cable (USB 케이블의 전원선 에서의 방사성 EMI 개선)

  • In this paper, we studied on improvement for radiated EMI of USB power line of cable. it is made by using wireless video access point system for confirming the phenomenon of radiated EMI from cable. then, we make sure that the limit exceed through the initial measurement of radiated EMI limit criteria in comparison to about 3 [dBuV/m]~15 [dBuV/m]. after that we confirmed the resonance in power line of cable through measurement of s-parameters. so, we confirmed the relation radiated EMI and power line of cable resonance and we reduced radiated EMI in power line of cable through a capacitor and low pass-band filter using the technique of power networks management. in conclusion, we suggested how to reduce power line of cable resonance applied for the improved method. and we confirmed that suggested reduction method is suitable through testing radiated EMI. the result of radiated EMI reduction limit criteria 40[dBuV/m]~47[dBuV/m] in comparison to about 3 [dBuV/m]~20 [dBuV/m].

  • The thesis suggests hand-held equipment to overhaul for mobile TFT LCD/OLED module of high-performance. The established module equipment to overhaul could distinguish outputting video data to module for distinguishing flicker, but it is impossible with low system. In this thesis, supporting system could check the various supplement functions from bringing equipment to overhaul without changing design of FPGA or H/W the module various size for equipment to overhaul for module of high-performance coincidently. The system includes hand-held equipment to overhaul, test software embedded and software a base personal computer and have designed to output, save, and certify all contents of module test of hand-held equipment to overhaul to interface universal serial bus. Setting up 9 items that represent for efficient verification of the proposed system have been possible confirmation with TFT LCD/OLED module of high-performance, establishment scan time, creation gamma, changing register, supporting interface, and multi inch modules.

  • Recently, many researches about making more comfortable input device based on gaze detection technology have been done in human computer interface. However, the system cost becomes high due to the complicated hardware and there is difficulty to use the gaze detection system due to the complicated user calibration procedure. In this paper, we propose a new gaze detection method based on the 2D analysis and a simple user calibration. Our method used a small USB (Universal Serial Bus) camera attached on a HMD (Head-Mounted Display), hot-mirror and IR (Infra-Red) light illuminator. Because the HMD is moved according to user's facial movement, we can implement the gaze detection system of which performance is not affected by facial movement. In addition, we apply our gaze detection system to 3D first person shooting game. From that, the gaze direction of game character is controlled by our gaze detection method and it can target the enemy character and shoot, which can increase the immersion and interest of game. Experimental results showed that the game and gaze detection system could be operated at real-time speed in one desktop computer and we could obtain the gaze detection accuracy of 0.88 degrees. In addition, we could know our gaze detection technology could replace the conventional mouse in the 3D first person shooting game.

Multi-Band Antenna Design by Controlling Characteristic of Third Order Mode (고차 모드 주파수 특성 제어 다중 대역 안테나)

  • This paper presents a new method for designing a dual-band WIFI antenna using the third-order harmonic mode of a monopole antenna whose first-order mode operates at the low frequency band of WIFI. As analysing the current distribution of the third-order mode of this monopole antenna, the strongest point of electric field can be found. Then by attaching a stub at this point, the resonant frequency of the stub radiator can be adjusted from the third-order mode of the monopole antenna into the high frequency band of WIFI and the input impedance at this resonant frequency can be controlled with the width of the branch, without affecting the low frequency band of WIFI (the first-order mode of the monopole antenna). The compact dual-band antenna is designed at the size of an USB(universal serial bus) dongle and the bandwidth covers 600 MHz(2.3~3 GHz) at 2 GHz and 1 GHz(4.9~5.9 GHz) at 5 GHz under -10 dB which is satisfied with WLAN frequency. Efficiency of proposed antenna achieves over 50 % at WLAN frequency.
