C-link Ripple Voltage Compensation Algorithm for Integrated ESS and UPS System with PV Generation (태양광 발전을 갖는 통합 ESS 및 UPS 시스템의 직류 링크 맥동전압 보상 알고리즘)

  • Using the ESS(Energy Storage System) as a UPS(Uninterruptible Power Supply) is being studied recently. When the system is operating at UPS mode in integrated ESS and UPS system, the grid supplying power is disconnected and power from PV generation and battery are supplying to load. Operating in UPS mode, when PV generation power is diminished by partial or total clouded situation, DC-link voltage fluctuates. The fluctuation of DC-link voltage influences the load and system as sensitive loads may malfunction. This paper suggests the DC-link ripple voltage compensation algorithm in bi-directional converter. The algorithm stabilize the DC-link and load voltage.

  • This paper presents an off-line UPS using the high temperature superconductive magnetic bearing. FES(Flywheel Energy Storage) system has good advantages in compare with lead acid battery. So, high efficiency FES using high temperature SMB(superconductive magnetic bearing) was composed in this paper. The outer rotor type of PMSM(Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) as motor/generator was used for the experiment, and square wave current and sinusoidal wave control methods was compared for high efficiency operation of motor/generator. The circuit for in phase sinusoidal wave current control with EMF in the full speed range was designed and the proposed flywheel energy storage system was applied in single phase off-line UPS system. As the stable operation characteristics of prototype system was confirmed, the its excellence as energy storage device in Off-line UPS was proved.

  • This paper presents a designing for the Off-line UPS usig SMB Flywheel Energy Storage System. This described flywheel energy storage system is designed to replace of the conventional EMB(Electro Mechanical Battery) system. To realize the high efficiency and to minimize the torque ripple the waveform of the inverter output current is controlled to be sinusoidal. The actual performance of the Off-line UPS using flywheel energy storage system is described.   • 본 논문은 UPS(Uninterrupted Power Supply)의 기능을 확장하여 ESS(Energy Storage System)로서 충방전 제어를 수행하는 hybrid UPS[1][2]인 UES(UPS+ESS)의 실제 구축사례를 기술한다. 기존 시스템의 변경을 최소화 하고 UPS 기능을 우선 동작하기 위해 UES는 UPS와 battery을 각각 제어하는 별도의 외부 제어장치를 이용하여 UES로서 시스템을 통합하며 각 부분 구성품의 호환성을 확보한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 일명 델타변환 무정전전원장치(UPS)로서 알려져 있는 3상 라인 인터랙티브 UPS 시스템의 성능 시험에 대해서 다루고 있다. 델타변환 UPS는 종래의 단일 변환 라인 인터랙티브 UPS 시스템에서 직렬 인덕터를 제거하고 직렬 및 병렬 PWM 컨버터를 사용하는 새로운 라인 인터랙티브 UPS 시스템으로 전원 전류를 직접 제어함으로써 UPS 시스템의 입출력 특성들이 상당히 개선되는 것으로 알려져 있다. 여기서는 UPS 시스템의 성능 시험에서 중요한 내용들인 부하시험, 정전/복전시험, 동기절체 시험 등에 대한 결과들을 제시하고 델타변환 UPS 시스템에 대한 전반적인 평가를 한다.

  • The reliability as well as the power capability of the UPS system can be increased by replacing a single UPS unit with multiple small UPS units in parallel, resulting in a so-called module UPS. This module UPS system allows that a new module can be added or replaced while maintaining power to loads, which is a hot-swappable operation. In addition, it has desirable features such as ease of output power expandability, convenience of maintenance and repair, and high reliability. To realize the module UPS, load sharing without interconnection among parallel connecting modules as well as a small scale and lightweight topology is necessary. The frequency and voltage droop method is applied to parallel operation control to achieve load sharing. 5kVA modules are designed and implemented to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed approaches. Experimental results show that the module UPS system has a high power factor, a low distortion of output voltage and input current, hot-swappable operations and good load sharing characteristics.

  • A new 3-phase line-interactive UPS(Uninterruptible Power Supply) system with parallel-series active power-line conditioning capability using AC line reactor and two four-leg PWM VSCs(Voltage Source Converters) was introduced recently. In this paper, the strategy of voltage control in suggested UPS system is explained. The objective of proposed voltage controllers in parallel(shunt) and series PWM VSC is to guarantee satisfactory characteristics in steady state and transient state. Therefore the experimental results to prototype UPS system having power rating of 60kVA is shown to prove the verification of voltage control strategy.

  • The HFC network is one of the most useful network for high-speed data communication. Optical node unit, Trunk branch amplifier, Tap-offs, and Uninterrupted power supplies (UPS) are in this network. Since power failures of the equipments in the network is crucial, UPS should be periodically monitored and controlled by the Host to prevent long power failures. This paper describes a UPS management system which is to monitor and control UPS to supply electric power to ONUs and TBAs in the network.

  • Recently, Uninterruptible power supply(UPS) is spotlighted from concern about black out, due to reserve power problem caused by increased power consumption. When fault occurs on the grid, UPS system supplies power to loads instead of the grid. Also, it is an advantage of possible operation as Energy storage system(ESS). Bi-directional power control of AC/DC Pulse width modulation(PWM) converter is essential for grid-connected UPS system. And, mode transfer control has to be performed considering phase and dynamic characteristic under grid condition. In this paper, control of mode transfer and bi-directional power control of AC/DC PWM converter is proposed for UPS system. Also, it is verified by simulation and experimental results.

  • This study described the design and construction of uninterruptible power supply(UPS) system for supercomputering system. KISTI's supercomputer system is served for all 24 hours, and power be achieved in stable voltage and frequency range. We analyzed the electric power usage for 4 years, and we considered cost and stability and we contructed UPS for supercomputer system.
