  • In this paper, a method to generate the extended model automatically on the critical elements in enterprise system based real time distributed architecture as well as the platform specific model(PSM) for Microsoft(MS) .NET platform is proposed. The key ideas of this method are real time distributed architecture should performed with satisfying strict constraints on life cycle of object and response time such as synchronization, transaction and so on, and .NET platform is able to implement functionalities including before mentioned by only specifying Attribute Code and maximizing advantages of MDA. In order to realize the ideas, functionalities which should be considered enterprise system development are specified and these are to be defined in Meta Model and extended UML profile. In addition, after definition of UML profile for .NET specification, by developing and applying these into plug-in of open source MDA tool, and extended models are generated automatically through this tool. Accordingly, by using proposed specification technology, the profile and tools easily and quickly reusable extended model can be generated even though low level of detailed information for functionalities which is considered in .NET platform and real time distributed architecture. In addition, because proposed profile is MOF which is basis of standard extended and applied, UML and MDA tools which observed MOF is reusable.

  • Component technology has been widely accepted as an effective way for building software systems with reusable components, and Microsoft (MS) .NET is one of the recent representative component technologies. Model Driven Architecture (MDA) is a new development paradigm which generates software by transforming design models automatically and incrementally. Transformation of structural models in MDA has been successfully applied. However, transformation of dynamic models and pervasive services, such as transaction service, security service, synchronization service and object pooling are largely remains as an area for further research. The recent enterprise system has multi tier distributed architecture, and the functionality of early mentioned pervasive services is essential for this architecture. .NET platform can implement Component Object Model+ (COM+) component for supporting pervasive services by specify Attribute code. In this paper, we specify the functionalities of the COM+ component offering pervasive services, and then those functionalities are defined by UML profile. By using the profile, the Platform Specific Model (PSM) for .NET/C# is specified, and .NET components are automatically generated through our tool. The development productivity, extensibility, portability, and maintenance of software can be dramatically improved by using of the proposed methods.

  • The product data exchange between heterogeneous CAB and PDM systems is a crucial issue for the integration of product development systems. STEP offers an efficient mechanism of product data exchange between heterogeneous systems. This paper introduces a UML-based mapping methodology for the product data models. The suggested mapping method has been applied to exchange the product structure data between CAD and PDM systems. Based on the STEP methods, we developed an interface module between a CAD system and a PDM system.

  • XML has been established as a de facto standard for representing and exchanging documents, and has been widely used as a logical data model. Using XML as a logical database model, it requires a conceptual model for the semantics that XML has. However, the existing conceptual models, such as Entity Relationship models and UML, have been extended their concepts to express the specific characteristics of XML, but so far, there are no standard models. This paper compares the characteristics of the typical model of conceptual model of XML by Extended Entity Relationship model from the perspective of database field. For this, we propose the requirements that must be met for XML, and on the basis of these requirements, the approaches of each model are compared.

  • XML documents which are used for exchanging structured documents between heterogeneous distributed system are increasing recently. It needs an object-oriented visualization tool for XML documents. So, we propose rules and an algorithm to represent structure of XML documents using UML Class Diagram. It helps to generate XML documents which are included links by understanding easily constructs of them and reduce gap of schema for them between heterogeneous databases. We propose formal models and modeling functions of XML links which provide an efficient environment for processing object-oriented documents.

  • Service-oriented computing offers efficient solutions for executing complex applications in an acceptable amount of time. These solutions provide important computing and storage resources, but they are too difficult for individual users to handle. In fact, Service-oriented architectures are usually sophisticated in terms of design, specifications, and deployment. On the other hand, workflow management systems provide frameworks that help users to manage cooperative and interdependent processes in a convivial manner. In this paper, we propose a workflow-based approach to fully take advantage of new service-oriented architectures that take the users' skills and the internal complexity of their applications into account. To get to this point, we defined a novel framework named JASMIN, which is responsible for managing service-oriented workflows on distributed systems. JASMIN has two main components: unified modeling language (UML) to specify workflow models and business process execution language (BPEL) to generate and compose Web services. In order to cover both workflow and service concepts, we describe in this paper a refinement of UML activity diagrams and present a set of rules for mapping UML activity diagrams into BPEL specifications.

  • Object orientation has become the predominant paradigm for conceptual modeling (e.g., UML), where the notions of class and object form the primitive building blocks of thought. Classes act as templates for objects that have attributes and methods (actions). The modeled systems are not even necessarily software systems: They can be human and artificial systems of many different kinds (e.g., teaching and learning systems). The UML class diagram is described as a central component of model-driven software development. It is the most common diagram in object-oriented models and used to model the static design view of a system. Objects both carry data and execute actions. According to some authorities in modeling, a certain degree of difficulty exists in understanding the semantics of these notions in UML class diagrams. Some researchers claim class diagrams have limited use for conceptual analysis and that they are best used for logical design. Performing conceptual analysis should not concern the ways facts are grouped into structures. Whether a fact will end up in the design as an attribute is not a conceptual issue. UML leads to drilling down into physical design details (e.g., private/public attributes, encapsulated operations, and navigating direction of an association). This paper is a venture to further the understanding of object-orientated concepts as exemplified in UML with the aim of developing a broad comprehension of conceptual modeling fundamentals. Thinging machine (TM) modeling is a new modeling language employed in such an undertaking. TM modeling interlaces structure (components) and actionality where actions infiltrate the attributes as much as the classes. Although space limitations affect some aspects of the class diagram, the concluding assessment of this study reveals the class description is a kind of shorthand for a richer sematic TM construct.
