Design of Recommender System and Metadata Construction for UCC producer (UCC 제작자를 위한 UCC 추천 시스템 설계와 메타데이터 구성)

  • In order to produce the variety of UCC, the recommendation service is required which considers the copyright of UCC producer discriminated from one for UCC consumers and the purpose of its production. The recommender system designed in this thesis enables UCC which is much similar to one UCC producer utilizes to be used with custom-made when recommending and producing based on UCC view history and production list, etc. of its producer. The recommender system is largely divided into filtering based on the preferred tag, UCC filtering used when producing the preferred UCC and creating process of recommended UCC using the Pearson formula. The recommender system in this thesis requires the data which were used when producing UCC. For that, we added the reference factor so that the data of UCC which were utilized when producing UCC into the existing metadata can be recorded. If the recommender system suggested in this thesis is used, the more effective and convenient UCC recommendation services with custom-made for producers can be provided.

  • In November 2018, virtual pop band K/DA, with the use of holograms and actual K-pop girl group members, performed its debut album titled "POP/STARS" at the opening ceremony of the League of Legends S8 final, hosted by Riot Games. The fan culture that exists for real singers adapts itself to virtual bands, and K/DA, consisting of virtual characters, encouraging the production of user created content (UCC). However, this form of UCC is different from the most common one, meaning that this type of band generates another way of consuming content. Therefore, this study examines how K/DA's digital characters are transformed and reproduced by UCC and how the original producers' content differs from them. Firstly, the development of this study considers the open characteristics of UCC, such as user type, created motivation, created process, content type and sharing method. In the second part, the virtual idol Hatsune Miku and virtual band Pentakill will be analysed to understand UCC. Thirdly, K/DA will be analyzed as a case study based on three factors: created motivation, content type and sharing method. In this manner, this study aims to explain how UCC for virtual bands reproduce and consume original content and expand their commercial value.

  • Since passive information users in mass media era became active information producers in this Internet era, an enormous amount of education contents has been created. As people use different production and reproduction tools even for the same content, however, user-created contents (UCC) do not have compatibility among them, which leads to other problems too. In order to solve these problems, this study proposes "a platform in UCC production environment based on standard specification, which will enhance interoperability among contents." We expect that this platform will help design Contents Publication and Management System (CPMS), which minimizes jobs required to be done repetitively for contents up-loading or transfer and thus enables easy contents sharing and management.

  • UCC, an abbreviation for User Created Contents, is not only a symbol of desire but also a product of creativity that a producer contains his or her subjective disposition. More and more UCC tend to have significantly increased in Web 2.0 environment. However, the research on the contents as a creative product has rarely been processed. It may be fairly said that this results in the indifference of researchers in the special field like the political contents since UCC is usually produced by amateurs. Producers' various desire is unlikely revealed, which leads to the flow of users into open media such as the Internet. It could also be available to represent the property, of plural visual language signs in a field. Moreover, UCC has the attribute of re-mediation in effective communication, so the differences between the semiotic properties in the Internet contents could be a significant material for researches. This could contribute to establish a theoretical system for the visual communication. Therefore, this study aims to analyse the signification of the political video UCC, . To develop this analysis, I apply Greimas' Generative Trajectory of Signification Theory to the text, or the UCC. He classifies it as three structures: deep structure, superficial structure, and discourse structure. As a result, the text shows meaningful contents delivering core political messages. In addition, this approach could exam that 'Obama Syndrome' in American recent presidential campaigns is caused by web 2.0 based on Internet campaigns including video UCC.

  • Based on the case study methods, the study analyzes that the countless UCC Cloud cloud is the niche creation by the lead users make process. This research show as follows. First, The Drama lovers and fan fiction writers are not only drama consumers but UCC creators/producers. By the process that the UCC and fan fiction is tailored to meet the needs of their users create fan fiction in fandom community, they create an entirely different niche from original drama. Second, the flow(drama consumption/evaluation, viewers needs/adaption, the user's creation/production) which community's creative users make sequentially coevolutes with the flow(drama information offer, intentionally supply/diffusion, derivatives production) of media companies. Third, the drama fandom community activities which is non-commercial activities form the drama ecosystem with a new paradigm, as well as form a virtuous cycle inked to the market continuously beyond fun, play, empathy.

Determinants of participation in UCC services (UCC 서비스 사용자의 참여수준 결정요인분석)

  • This study identifies key determinants of participation in UCC services. Incorporating insights from the flow theory, we examine the effects of psychological factors of social presence, self expression, arousal, and challenge as well as web-site characteristics variables of media easiness, contents usability, and immediateness. We have done a sample survey of internet users and collected 260 responses. Using Windows SPSS/PC 12.0 Package, we have performed statistical analyses including a correlation analysis, a factor analysis, and a multiple regression analysis. The result of the study is as follows. Psychological variables of perceived social presence, self expression, arousal, and challenge all show positive significant effect on participation in UCC service. Among web site characteristics, media easiness, which consists of a web structure that is easy-to-use, user friendliness, and personalized service, demonstrates a positive significant effect on participation in UCC services. Immediateness also has a positive significant effect. Some of the practical implications of the result are follows. We should improve user access to platforms of UCC service by opening up platforms. This will heighten perceived challenge which has the strongest influence on participation in UCC services. We need to focus on multimedia services and adjust to the cultural code of netizen who crave for visual expressions and on the spot on-line activities. Also suggested is that contributions made by participants need to be acknowledged through such provisions as profit sharing. Needs for individualized service, which is an aspect of media easiness, should also be addressed. Participants tend to value individuality while at the same time accepting broader trends. Information services need to be customized for individuals. In UCC centered internet businesses, netizen consumers are presumer. They are consumers and producers at the same time, and consumer needs should also be explored for the success of internet businesses.

  • As a high-speed growth of internet infrastructure and a fast supply of digital imaging devices, a digital image contents industrialization is growing fast. Digital image contents are represented as digitalized images for recognition by the computer. This paper proposes the customized stock image contents management system for digital image contents developers and UCC contents producers. For automatic batch management of image contents, we design the system using the techniques of stock image meta-data conversion to want, image contents format conversion to want and selective image contents uploading to want. Furthermore, constructed system can be embedded to a system easy and fast. It provides efficient work environment as appling conventional systems and contributes for user-friendly interface construction.
