Development of SILS platform for application system based on AR and UAV (증강현실과 UAV 기반 응용 시스템을 위한 SILS 플랫폼 개발)

  • Recently, the development of UAV application system using augmented reality (AR) has received much attention. In general, the design and implementation of UAV application system are verified with SILS techniques before actual flight experiments. However, existing SILS environment cannot be used to verify the application system based on AR and UAV because it does not include key features related to AR. To overcome this problem, we proposed an SILS platform that could be effectively used for the development of application systems based on AR and UAV. Simulation results on accuracy, efficiency, and scalability show that the proposed platform could be effectively utilized for the development of AR and UAV based-application systems.

  • The Smart UAV Program was motivated by a huge potential market, a various application and future core technologies. The Smart UAV system is defined as the advanced air vehicle with the smart technology such as collision awareness and avoidance, healthy monitering and self-recovering, intelligent active control. Due to the broad interest by government, industry and academia, Smart UAV development center and government steering committee were established. The organization of the Smart UAV program consists of domestic/international companies and academia. In this paper, the process and application of system engineering was introduced for Smart UAV development program.

  • Recently, disasters are increasing rapidly due to global warming and abnormal weather conditions, and the scale of damage is also getting wider. In this study, the application of UAV is analyzed based on previous study about disaster and analysis of regulations for disaster. Also, this study is proposed application model to prepare, reponse and restoration from natural disaster to make use of the UAV. This UAV is quick and economic for existing technology, and available to various disaster monitoring. UAV application for disaster monitoring is able to support effective management of disaster by real time aerial monitoring for reponse from natural disaster and damage assessment.

The system for UAV to approach to a ship and to monitor via AIS information (AIS 정보를 활용한 UAV의 효율적인 선박 접근 및 모니터링을 위한 시스템)

  • The application area based on UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) is continuously increasing as time passing by. In particular the UAVs which consist of more than four horizontal propellers and the functionality of VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) are utilized in diverse platforms and application products due to their safety and aerodynamically simpler design and architectures. Most UAV missions are controlled by GCSs(Ground Control System). The GCSs are generally connected to the internet and get electrical map and environmental information such as temperature, humidity, wind direction and so on. In this paper, we design a system that UAV has capability of approaching to a certain ship and monitoring her efficiently by using AIS(Auto Identification System) information.

  • Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) is diversely utilized in our lives such as daily hobbies, specialized video image taking and disaster prevention activities. New ways of UAV application have been explored recently such as UAV-based delivery. However, most UAV systems are being utilized in a passive form such as real-time video image monitoring, filmed image ground analysis and storage. For more proactive UAV utilization, there should be higher-performance UAV and large-capacity memory than those presently utilized. Against this backdrop, this study described the general matters on proactive software platform and high-performance UAV hardware for real-time target tracking; implemented research on its design and implementation, and described its implementation method. Moreover, in its established platform, this study measured and analyzed the core-specific CPU consumption.

  • Now, the era of information, the rapid acquisition of vast and various information acts as a key role. for the national competitiveness. The smart UAV is brought to the fore as a new future technology which will be able to satisfy the information needs in broad and stereoscopic manner. The smart UAV, with VTOL capability, higher performance, and reliability over the existing technology thresholds, will lead the aerospace technology in the future. In this paper, the technology concept of smart UAV, the necessity of development, and the trend of worldwide R&D are introduced and analyzed. In addition, for the Smart UAV Development Program which is launched by the 21c Frontier R&D program this year, the role and application area of the CFD will be discussed.

A Study on the Certification System of the Unmanned Aircraft (무인항공기 인증제도에 관한 연구)

  • Nowadays, the demand of civil application of an UAV has been being increased all over the world. And many projects are going on to develop a new regulatory system for an UAV to access a national airspace. Especially, to fly UAV over the non-restricted airspace as a standard airworthiness standard, many authority funded research institutes and associations are studying regulatory environment. For the UAV to access civil airspace, the certification system of the aviation regulation have to allow this. FAA of US, CASA of Australia and European authorities are now issuing an experimental airworthiness certificate to a civil UAV. This is the first step of issuing a standard airworthiness certificate. And many people believe that civil UAV can fly over a NAS if some technical issues are resolved. In this study, I would like to present an international trends of a civil UAV regulation system, reliability trend of unmanned aerial system and would like to bring up a our regulatory environment and suggest an UAV regulatory policy.

  • This paper describes UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) control system which employs PC104 modules. It is controlled by application program based on Linux OS. This application consists of both Linux device driver in kernel-space and user application in user-space. In order to get data required in the unmanned flight, external devices are connected to PC104 modules. We explain how Linux device drivers deal with data transmitted by external devices and we account for how the user application controls UAV on the basis of data processed in the device driver as well. Furthermore we look into the role of GCS (Ground Control Station) which is to monitor the state of UAV.

In this paper, we design a system for UAV system to have capability of approaching to a certain ship and monitoring her efficiently by using AIS (Auto Identification System) information. Furthermore we verify that adapting AIS on GCS side is more efficient through experiments.
