In this paper, it is the effect of using fiber sheet (Carbon Fiber Sheet & Aramid Fiber Sheet) and Steel Plate for reinforced concrete beam, 25 specimens are tested, 16 specimens for bending capacity and the other are for shear capacity. In the case of bending testing, the kind and quantity of the reinforcement materials, the bondage and the existence of crack were selected as experimental variables. And in the case of shear testing, it is testified the effect of reinforcement with the variables of the method of reinforcement (side type and U type). As a result, using the reinforcement meterials can increase the capacity of bending stress.

In this study, new moment-resisting precast concrete beam-column joint is proposed for moderate seismic regions. It has the connection reinforcing bars, penetrated the joint and lap-spliced with the bottom bars of precast U-beam. To evaluate the performance for noncontact lapped splice, analytical works were conducted. Major variables for FEM analysis are the length of lap, the diameter of connection reinforcing bars, and the distance between lapped bars. The results of this study show thar the these variables has much influence on strength and deformation of lapped joint.

A prerequisite for the development of graphene-based field effect transistors (FETs) is reliable control of the type and concentration of carriers in graphene. These parameters can be manipulated via the deposition of atoms, molecules, and polymers onto graphene as a result of charge transfer that takes place between the graphene and adsorbates. In this work, we demonstrate a unique and facile methodology for the homogenous and stable p-type doping of graphene by hybridization with ZnO thin films fabricated by MeV electron beam irradiation (MEBI) under ambient conditions. The formation of the ZnO/graphene hybrid nanostructure was attributed to MEBI-stimulated dissociation of zinc acetate dihydrate and a subsequent oxidation process. A ZnO thin film with an ultra-flat surface and uniform thickness was formed on graphene. We found that homogeneous and stable p-type doping was achieved by charge transfer from the graphene to the ZnO film.

In this paper, a dynamic modeling approach is introduced to identify the dynamic characteristics of the structural/mechanical joints within an one-dimensional structure. A structural joint is represented by the four-pole parameters and the four-pole parameters are determined from the measured frequency response functions by using the spectral element method. As the illustrative examples, a cantilevered beam a clamped-clamped beam, both consist of two beams connected by a bolted joint, are investigated to evaluate the present modeling approach. It is found that the dynamic responses predicted by using the identified for-pole parameters for the bolted joint are well agreed with the measured dynamic responses measured
Three-dimensional approaches for the diagnosis and analysis of the dentofacial area are becoming more popular in accordance with the development of cone-beam CT (CBCT). The purposes of this study were to evaluate the reliability of cephalometric measurements of lateral cephalograms generated from a CBCT image by making comparisons with the traditional digital lateral cephalogram, and to evaluate the possibility of the clinical application of CBCT generated cephalogram images. Methods: Twenty patients whose external auditory meatus could be identified in the CBCT image were selected, and both CBCT and digital cephalograms were taken. Differences between the measurements of both cephalograms were tested by paired t-test. Results: Among the 22 measurements used, only U1-FH, Mx6 to PTV, and maxillomandibular difference showed statistically significant differences between the CBCT generated cephalogram and the digital cephalogram. Conclusions: The results suggest that the CBCT generated cephalogram can be used for some cephalometric measurements not requiring porion, PTV, condylion as a landmark (SNA, SNB, U1 to SN, IMPA, interincisal angle, etc.).

In this research, the seismic connection details for two concrete-filled U-shape steel beam-to-H columns were proposed and cyclically tested under a full-scale cruciform configuration. The key connecting components included the U-shape steel section (450 and 550 mm deep for specimens A and B, respectively), a concrete floor slab with a ribbed deck (165 mm deep for both specimens), welded couplers and rebars for negative moment transfer, and shear studs for full composite action and strengthening plates. Considering the unique constructional nature of the proposed connection, the critical limit states, such as the weld fracture, anchorage failure of the welded coupler, local buckling, concrete crushing, and rebar buckling, were carefully addressed in the specimen design. The test results showed that the connection details and design methods proposed in this study can well control the critical limit states mentioned above. Especially, the proposed connection according to the strengthening strategy successfully pushed the plastic hinge to the tip of the strengthened zone, as intended in the design, and was very effective in protecting the more vulnerable beam-to-column welded joint. The maximum story drift capacities of 6.0 and 6.8% radians were achieved in specimens A and B, respectively, thus far exceeding the minimumlimit of 4% radians required of special moment frames. Low-cycle fatigue fracture across the beam bottom flange at a 6% drift level was the final failure mode of specimen A. Specimen B failed through the fracture of the top splice plate of the bolted splice at a very high drift ratio of 8.0% radian.
Shear tests were performed on four ends of full scale U-type beams which were designed by optimum process for the depth with a live load of 4903Pa. The ratio of width to depth of full scale 10.5 m-span, composite U-type beams with topping concrete was greater than 2. Following conclusions were obtained from the evaluation on the shear performance of these precast prestressed beams. 1) Those composite U-type beams performed homogeneously up to the failure load, and conformed to ACI Strength design methods in shear and flexural behaviors. 2) The anchorage requirements on development length of strand In the ACI Provisions preyed to be a standard to determine a failure pattern within the limited test results of the shallow U-type beams. 3) Those all shear crackings developed from the end of the beams did not lead to anchorage failure. However, initiated strand slip may leads the bond failure by increasing the size of diagonal shear crackings. 4) The flexural mild reinforcement around the vertical center of beam section was effective for developments of a ductile failure.

In this paper, we present the results of educational innovation case study using U-Learning Box and Ubiquitous-based Test(UBT) system for 6 sample primary schools in Nepal. As Nepal is considered to be a developing country with electricity problem to the school, the U-Learning Box, consisting of a small and easy-to-use tablet PC for teacher and a small smart beam with its own battery was evaluated as the optimum solution to support continuous basic English and hygiene education for these schools. And UBT technology using tablet PC was used to evaluate and analyze basic English learning ability of the students, which helped us realized that it is necessary to improve the educational environment and develop suitable educational contents. We hope that the global educational innovation using U-Learning Box and UBT technology will become a successful model for global equality of educational opportunity project for developing countries including Nepal.

1-D photonic band-gap structure is identified in a cholesteric liquid crystal system. The optical transmission spectrum is measured and compared with the theoretical analysis. Nonlinear transmission is measured near the band edge. Also 3-D photonic band-gap structures are fabricated from dielectric colloidal polystyrene beads through a centrifuge method. The fabricated photonic crystals exhibit opalescent colors under white light and show a clear diffraction peak dependent on the incident angle of the light beam. Also the scanning electron microscope image was taken to verify the face-centered cubic crystal structure. Bragg's law and Snell's law are employed to describe the position of angle resolved diffraction peaks. It was shown that the optically deduced effective refractive index and lattice constants were in good agreement with the crystal structure identified by scanning electron microscope.
