  • Heat release characteristics of live fire load are an important parameter for performance oriented fire safety design of a building. While investigations have been carried out on the fire load and its burning behavior in office, residential and commercial buildings and so on, little effort has been paid for the rational treatment of fire load in bookstore. In this report, burning behavior of typical combustible objects in bookstore are studied by measuring heat release rates of bookshelf with book.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of operation factors of a typical main spindle system on the efficiency of machine tool. In this study. both static and dynamic analysis of typical main spindle system of the machine tool are performed using a finite element method. These finite element results are then used to predict the bearing stiffness. the amount of heat generation as well as the bearing life in the spindle system. Effects of material type of ball-bearing. bearing-lubricant type and main spindle bearing preload are examined.

  • Ultra High Performance Cementitious Composites with compressive strength 200MPa (UHPCC-200) is proposed for the structural design of super high hybrid wind turbine tower to gain durability, ductility and high strength design objectives. The minimal wall thickness is analyzed using basic bending and compression theory and is modified by a toque influence coefficient. Two cases of wall thickness combination of middle and bottom segment including varied ratio and constant ratio are considered within typical wall thickness dimension. Using nonlinear finite element analysis, the effects of wall thickness combinations with varied and constant ratio and prestress on the structural stress and lateral displacement are calculated and analyzed. The design limitation of the segmental wall thickness combinations is recommended.

  • The aim of this study was to compare the spray characteristics of a typical fuel (100% diesel, DME) and diesel-DME blended fuel in a constant volume combustion chamber (CVCC). The typical fuel (100% diesel, DME) and diesel-DME blended fuel spray characteristics were investigated at various ambient pressures (pressurized nitrogen) and fuel injection pressures using a common rail fuel injection system when the fuel mixture ratio was varied. The fuel injection quantity and spray characteristics were measured including spray shape, penetration length, and spray angle. Common types of injectors were used.

Synthesis and Crystal Structures of Zn(II)- and Mn(II)- Diphenyldicarboxylate Complexes with N-Donor Ligand

  • Two new polymeric complexes, [Zn(dpa)(pyz)0.5]n (1; dpa = diphenate and pyz = pyrazine) and [Mn3(bpdc)3(py)4]n (2; bpdc = biphenyl-4,4'-dicarboxylate and py = pyridine) were successfully isolated by the hydro- and solvo-thermal technique, respectively. The complexes were characterized by elemental and thermal analysis, vibrational IR spectroscopy, and by single crystal x-ray structure determination. For 2, magnetic property was also investigated. Complex 1 is a two-dimensional layer structure consisting of a paddle-wheel building unit of Zn-dpa chains bridged by pyrazine. While, complex 2 consists of linear trimeric Mn3 cluster as building unit to form 3D network. In the complexes, dpa2− (1) and bpdc2−(2) ligands show a typical bis-monodendate bridging and two kinds of bridging modes; a typical bridging and chelating/bridging mode, respectively.
