  • Water tree degradations have been considered as one of the most important causes of failure in underground distribution cables with polymeric insulation. Water tree growth is a preliminary step in the sequence of electrical tree initiation and electrical breakdown of the insulation. In this paper, needle electrode is made use of the etching methods and the pellet type specimen is made to observe the water tree in succession. In previous methods are able to observe the tree degradations without cutting and dyeing. The water tree image is recorded on VTR with CCD camera. The tree length of X, Y axis direction and aging area(treeing area) are calculated with image measurement. As a result of this study, water tree is observed by non-destructive method. Electrical tree is initiated from needle electrode tip only but water tree is initiated from total area of water electrode. Electrical tree owing to water treeing is initiated at low electric field and grown with discontinuously. Namely, water tree is shown up a different characteristics of tree growth.

  • This paper describes the new method for Internet multicast routing protocols using MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching) networks. Internet multicast routing protocols are divided into three categories in terms if tree types and tree characteristics : a shortest path tree a shared tree and hybrid tree types. MPLS should support various multicast mechanisms because of extremely different IP multicast architectures, such as uni-/bi-directional link, Flooding/prune tree maintenance mechanism. the existence of different tree types with the same group, etc. There are so many problems over MPLS multicast that the solutions can't be easily figured out. In this Paper, we make a few assumptions on which the solutions of IP multicast routing protocols over MPLS networks are given. A broadcasting label is defined for the shortest path tree types. Cell interleaving problems of the shared tree types is solved by using block-based transmission mechanism. Finally, the existing hybrid-type multicast routing protocol is reasonably modified Shortest Path tree type to support MPLS multicast. It has been shown that these modifications give better performance (transmission delay) than the orignal method.

  • A subset S of vertices of a graph G is independent if no two vertices of S are adjacent by an edge in G. Also we say that S is maximal independent if it is contained In no larger independent set in G. A planted plane tree is a tree that is embedded in the plane and rooted at an end-vertex. A (k+1) -valent tree is a planted plane tree in which each vertex has degree one or (k+1). We classify maximal independent sets of (k+1) -valent trees into two groups, namely, type A and type B maximal independent sets and consider specific independent sets of these trees. We study relations among these three types of independent sets. Using the relations, we count the number of all maximal independent sets of (k+1) -valent trees with n vertices of degree (k+1).

  • In this paper, it is discussed the correlation between shape of tree and internal partial discharge in low density polyethylene(LDPE) blended with organic compounds that used to improve the effect of resistance to treeing. Initiation and growing of tree are retarded in specimens blended with organic compounds that comprised radical having large electron affinity, and also discharge magnitude and counts of discharging pulse per unit time in these samples are more than those in others. It is observed that the shape of tree in these samples is bush type, but in case of pure LDPE samples dendrite type.

  • This paper describes the application of fault tree technique to analyze of compressor failure. Fault tree analysis technique involves the decomposition of a system into the specific form of fault tree where certain basic events lead to a specified top event which signifies the total failure of the system. In this research. fault trees for failure analysis of screw type air compressor are made. This fault trees are used to obtain minimal cut sets from system failure and system failure rate for the top event occurrence can be calculated. It is Possible to estimate air compressor reliability by using constructed fault trees through compressor failure example. It is Proved that FTA is efficient to investigate the compressor failure modes and diagnose system.

  • Let g = (V, E, ${\mu}$) be a weighted directed tree, where V is a vertex set, E is an edge set, and ${\mu}$ is ${\sigma}$-finite measure on V. The tree g induces a composition operator C on the Hilbert space $l^2$(V). Hand-type directed trees are defined and characterized the weak hyponormalities of such C in this note. Also some additional related properties are discussed. In addition, some examples related to directed hand-type trees are provided to separate classes of weak-hyponormal operators.

  • This paper presents the target object search algorithm under Dynamic Programming (DP) in the Tree-type maze. We organized an experimental environment with the concatenation of Y-shape diverged way, small mobile robot, and a target object. By the principle of optimality, the backbone of DP, an agent recognizes that a given whole problem can be solved whether the values of the best solution of certain ancillary problem can be determined according to the principle of optimality. In experiment, we used two different control algorithms: a left-handed method and DP. Finally we verified the efficiency of DP in the practical application using our real robot.

  • This research aimed to develop forest type classification technique for the mixed forest with coniferous and broad-leaved species using the high resolution satellite data. QuickBird data was used as satellite data. The method of this research was to extract satellite data for every single tree crown using image segmentation technique, then to evaluate the accuracy of classification by changing grouping criteria such as tree species, families, coniferous or broad-leaved species, and timber prices. As a result, the classification of tree species and families level was inaccurate, on the other hand, coniferous or broad-leaved species and timber price level was high accurate.

  • In December-January of 1996-1997 and 1997-1998, information was gathered about vertical distribution of foraging sites of tits in 34 flocks in coniferous and deciduous forests. There was a significant effect of forest type on the distribution of foraging sites of each species. Habitat was classified into 5 height layers vertically: ground, bushes (usually<1.5 m, up to 3 m), tree layer 1 (up to 1/3 of tree height), tree layer 2 (1/3-2/3 tree height). and tree layer 3 (>2/3 tree height). There were differences among species: great tit (Parus major) foraged mostly on the ground, coal tit (P. ater) and long-tailed tit (Acrocephalus caudatus) - on the highest tree layer, marsh tit (P. palustris) was often seen on bushes, and varied tit (P. varius) - in tree layer 2. Smaller species used upper and outer parts of trees. suggesting that, like in most other similar studies. larger dominant species prevented smaller species from using inner parts of trees.

  • XLPE/VLDPE (Crosslinked polyethylene/very low density polyethylene) blends were prepared by a twin screw extruder and their electrical properties such as water tree and breakdown characteristic were measured. it was found that both water tree and breakdown characteristics of XLPE were improved by the addition of VLDPE to polyethylene. It was also found that the extent of improvement of electrical properties by the addition of VLDPE to polyethylene depends on the type and concentration of VLDPE.
