A newly puzzle shape of crestbond rib shear connector is a type of ductile perfobond rib shear connector. This shear connector has some advantages, including relatively easy rebar installation and cutting, as well as the higher shear resistance strength. Thus, this study proposed a newly puzzle shape of crestbond rib with a "${\mho}$" shape, and its shear resistance behaviors and shear strengths were examined using push-out tests. Five main parameters were considered in the push-out specimens to evaluate the effects of shear resistance parameters such as the dimensions of the crestbond rib, transverse rebars in the crestbond dowel, concrete strength, rebar strength, and dowel action on the shear strength. The shear loading test results were used to compare the changes in the shear behaviors, failure modes, and shear strengths. It was found that the concrete strength and number of transverse rebars in the crestbond rib were significantly related to its shear resistance. After the initial bearing resistance behavior of the concrete dowel, a relative slip occurred in all the specimens. However, its rigid behavior to shear loading decreased the ductility of the shear connection. The cross-sectional area of the crestbond rib was also shown to have a minor effect on the shear resistance of the crestbond rib shear connector. The failure mechanism of the crestbond rib shear connector was complex, and included compression, shear, and tension. As a failure mode, a crack was initiated in the middle of the concrete slab in a vertical direction, and propagated with increasing shear load. Then, horizontal cracks occurred and propagated to the front and rear faces of the specimens. Based on the results of this study, a design shear strength equation was proposed and compared with previously suggested equations.
Regular radiographic examination has been considered an essential diagnositic method for osseointegrated dental implantation. This study investigated marginal bone loss through the measurement on periapical radiographs and changes in bone density through digital subtraction image radiographic method around 88 endoseous root-form dental implants in 43 human subjects. Four types of endosseous dental implants were investigated : Standard series, Mini series and Hex-lock system of Steri-Oss Dental implant system, and $Br{\aa}nemark$-type implant from 3i dental implant system, in a 3 month interval for a total period of 12 months. The results were as follows : 1. Rapid bone loss occurred in the first 3 months in all 4 groups, and the bone level stabilized at the first thread of the implant fixtures. Amount of bone loss for 12 months showed correlation with the length of the polished neck portion. 2. Most of the implant systems showed resorption of alveolar bone up to the polished neck portion although a long polished neck could delay the resolution. 3. Alveolar bone loss apical to the polished neck portion stabilized at the first thread of the fixtures with no correlation to either the time of exposure of the polished neck or types of implant systems. 4. No changes in bone density around the implant threads were observed throughout the experimental period. Bone density decreased at the marginal bone, and increased at the newly-formed alveolar crest. These results indicate that most of the alveolar bone loss occur within the first 12 months after installation of endosseous root-form dental implants resulting in the exposure of polished neck portions, and the bone level stabilizes thereafter at the first thread portions of the implant fixtures. The experimental period of 12 months seems insufficient for observing changes in bone density, and a long-term observation should be needed.

Ionospheric sounding experiments have been conducted at RRL (Radio Research Laboratory), Ministry of Communications, using Digisonde 256 since its installation in 1990. Routine observations of the vertical sounding are carried out 48 times (or 39 times) a day, at every 24 hour. In addition, we also made oblique sounding experiments to obtain the real time data of Maximum Usable Frequency (MUF) and detect the anomalous HF propagation, as a part of the joint study between RRL and CRL (Communications Research Laboratory) of Japan. The two stations involved in the study were Anyang (RRL, Korea) and Kokubunji (CRL, Japan). The ionosondes used in both stations were Digisonde 256, developed by ULCAR (University of Lowell, Center for Atmospheric Research), U. S. A. , and the synchronization of time was accomplished with the help of GPS receiver. During most part of the experiments RRL transmitted non-modulated pulses, and CRL received them. The experiment was scheduled from October 25 through October 29, 1993. However, the ionosphere was not developed well enough to conduct the experiment with pre-set operation parameters. The experiment became successful (from 0500 UT to 0800 UT, October 29) only after the operation parameters had been changed, and the continuous ionograms were obtained by CRL at 0718 UT and 0733 UT in October 29, 1993. We believe this type of experiment will ensure the qualitative enhancement of solar-terrestrial physics research and a routine observation of the oblique ionospheric sounding. In this report, we present the results of the fore-mentioned oblique sounding as well as the vertical sounding results obtained by Digisonde 256 at Anyang station of RRL.

Because of power consumption increase, global warming, and limitation of installation, not only high reliability and interruption capability but also compact and light power apparatuses are needed. In this paper, E field calculation and experiment were processed to identify the influence of the shape of end shield and gap distance. It is expected that the results of FEM simulation and experiments could be the basic data to develop VI. the results of FEM simulation and experiments are as following. Firstly, maximum E fields were compared by means of finite element method as a function of the shape of end shield. 3 types of models were used to analyze maximum E field of each model and the influence of shape of shield could be identified. As a result, proposed L type shield could reduce the maximum E field by 20%. Secondly, the influence of the gap distance between end shields on E field was analyzed. As the gap distance become short the gap distance between inner walls of ceramic also become short. And the maximum E field concentrated on inner wall of ceramic finally increased. Thirdly, the experiment was conducted by fabricating each prototype. As a result, no creepage occurred in shieldless model. In other words, creepage occurred in the shield-installed models. And creepage inception voltages were different from each other because of the difference of maximum E field. Fourthly, The equation that shows relation between calculated E field and measured creepage inception voltage was proposed as a result of FEM analysis and experiment. It is concluded that when designing VI this equation could be important data to reduce time and cost by identifying indirectly the optimal gap distance and the shape of shield required to prevent creepage.

The fatigue strength analysis of VLFS is carried out by using a 3-dimensional plate finite element model with a zooming technology which performs the modeling of wide portions of the structure by a coarse mesh but the concerned parts by a very fine mesh of t by t level. And a stepwise substructure modeling technique for global loading conditions is applied which uses the motion response of the global structure from 2-D plate hydroelastic analysis as the enforcing nodal displacements of the concern 3-D structural zooming model. Seven incident wave angles and whole ranges of frequency domains of wave spectrum are considered. In order to consider the effect of breakwater, the modified JONSWAP wave spectrum is used. Applying the wave data of installation region, the longterm spectrum analysis is done based on stochastic process and the fatigue life of the structure is estimated. Finally some design considerations from the view point of fatigue strength analysis of VLFS are discussed.
Purpose: Thermal performance and air tightness of window are improved for the building energy efficiency. As the deteriorated houses are increased, the improve measures with low cost and easy installation are developed in the energy performance of window. Attached glazing and windbreak can be easily applied to the window with low cost. In this paper, the effect of the attached glazing and windbreak on the thermal performance and air tightness of window is analyzed as the measure to improve performance of window. Method: Thermal transmittance of glazing is evaluated through WINDOW simulation according to thickness of attached glazing and air cavity. Based on the simulation results, thermal transmittance, air tightness and condensation resistance performance of four cases are tested according to Korea standards. One type of PVC sliding double window is chosen as the specimen. For the analysis on low performance of window, the outside of window is excluded in the PVC sliding double window. Result: This study shows that thermal performance of glazing can be increased by the application of attached glazing. Furthermore, lower thermal performance of glazing can obtain the higher effect of attached glazing. The application of attached glazing and windbreak can effect on increasing thermal performance and air tightness of window.

Heat loss through windows and doors occupies 20 to 45% of the total heat loss in building. It accounts for a large proportion of the total heat loss in building. In order to suppress the amount of heat flow through the windows and doors were considered actions such as reinforcement of insulation performance of window, adoption of low-e glass, and installation of solar heat shading device. The Purpose of this study is to compare solar heat shading performances of 3 types of internal blinds in the summer. In order to verify the solar heat shading performances of the blinds, a roll blind, blind A(Venetian blind) and blind B(Daylight guiding venetian blind)were installed in the four rooms with the same environmental conditions. As a result of the experiment, the blind B, blind A, roll blind showed an excellent performance in that order. Its because the blind B is made of aluminum materials coated with special paints on surface. It doesn't converted to long wave by short wave light. and it is reflected to short wave to outside.
Before occupation of an apartment housing, the builders are required to inform the test result of IAQ to the public. However, there is no simplified method to predict IAQ before measurement of pollutant concentration. In this study, a simplified way of predicting IAQ based on the distribution of indoor pollutant concentration is proposed. 7 different cases of air change rate have been simulated through CFD analysis to get the distribution ratio of each pollutant material and then simplified functions were used with CRIAQ1 values derived from CFD simulation to evaluate by comparing the influence of each material in the indoor pollutant concentration. Again, a lot of efforts which can improve the indoor air quality have been performed. Materials used in indoor space are labeled with their pollutant emission level. Installation of ventilation system in residential buildings will be regulated by a building codes sooner or later. But it is important to understand the fact that layout of walls, location or size of openings will influence the indoor air flow and pollutant concentration. And location of emitting material influences to indoor air pollutants distribution. But until now there is few recognition and consideration of these factors. Therefore, in this paper the effects of these factors is proved and some kind of guideline is made for designers after a comparison of typical apartment floor plan and a new type plan with their average pollutant concentration and its distribution of each room. CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics) program was used to show the indoor air flow and pollutant concentration distribution. For this purpose, a typical $100m^2$ apartment floor plan was chosen as a case study model and several alternatives were reviewed to improve the IAQ performance. The simulation took place in the condition of natural ventilation through windows.

Low-rise residential community is the most popular type (51%) of residential neighborhoods in Seoul. Currently, there is a shortage of public facilities needed for living conditions and the quality of life in low-rise residential areas. This study defines 'public facility' as infrastructure to improve the living environment and used by residents jointly in low-rise residential areas. In this regard, this study analyzes current legal and institutional standards, latest trends in public facility of apartments, and residents' demand and satisfaction level in order to find out the criteria for installation of priority public facilities. As a result, the essential facility basically conforms to the number of household which is the standard of the facility supply in apartment. However, considering the limitations on the accessibility due to low density, it should consider two standards at the same time: the number of household and distance (radius of neighborhood). In conclusion, it is necessary to install legally prescribed facilities according to the number of household and distance: 500 households facilities in 250m radius neighborhood and 1,000 households facilities in 400m radius neighborhood. Also, considering the reality of low-rise residential area, it is necessary to integrate some facilities that can be functionally linked to improve level of utility and efficiency of operation and management. It is expected that the output of this study can be applied to institutionalize of the legal basis for the public facility of low-rise residential community.

Increase of impervious areas due to expansion of housing area, commercial and business building of urban is resulting in property change of stormwater runoff. Also, rapid urbanization and heavy rain due to climate change lead to urban flood and debris flow damage. In 2010 and 2011, Seoul had experienced shocking flooding damages by heavy rain. All these have led to increased interest in applying LID and decentralized rainwater management as a means of urban hydrologic cycle restoration and Natural Disaster Prevention such as flooding and so on. Urban development is a cause of expansion of impervious area. It reduces infiltration of rain water and may increase runoff volume from storms. Low Impact Development (LID) methods is to mimic the predevelopment site hydrology by using site design techniques that store, infiltrate, evaporate, detain runoff, and reduction flooding. Use of these techniques helps to reduce off-site runoff and ensure adequate groundwater recharge. The contents of this paper include a hydrologic analysis on a site and an evaluation of flooding reduction effect of LID practice facilities planned on the site. The region of this Case study is LID Rainwater Management Demonstration District in A-new town and P-new town, Korea. LID Practice facilities were designed on the area of rainwater management demonstration district in new town. We performed analysis of reduction effect about flood discharge. SWMM5 has been developed as a model to analyze the hydrologic impacts of LID facilities. For this study, we used weather data for around 38 years from January 1973 to August 2014 collected from the new town City Observatory near the district. Using the weather data, we performed continuous simulation of urban runoff in order to analyze impacts on the Stream from the development of the district and the installation of LID facilities. This is a new approach to stormwater management system which is different from existing end-of-pipe type management system. We suggest that LID should be discussed as a efficient method of urban disasters and climate change control in future land use, sewer and stormwater management planning.
