  • The aim of this study is to identify characteristics of 2D:4D according to type of handedness. Data was collected from October, 4th, 2010 to April, 30th, 2012. After handedness assessment, 2nd and 4th finger length were measured by vernier calipers. This study showed remarkable gender difference of 2D:4D in left hand for left handers and right hand for right handers, However, there was no significant difference according to type of handedness in each gender. The correlation between left and right 2D:4D in males right handedness was higher than that of male left handedness, otherwise, in case of female, that of left handedness was higher than that of right handedness. The results of this study suggest that the 2D:4D of left handedness does not differ from that of right handedness, however, gender difference and correlation between left and right 2D:4D show different characteristics according to handedness.

  • In using both hands, everyone dominantly use one hand and it is called left-handedness or right-handedness person. Measurements of grip and pinch strength provide objective indexes to represent functional integrity of the upper extremity. This study was conducted for thirty female college students(19 right-handedness and 11 lefthandedness). For assessment of the type of handedness, questionnaire was used; for grip strength, Jamar dynamometer was used; for pinch strength, Jamar pinch gauge was used. In right handedness, the grip and pinch strength of the dominant right hand was significantly higher than those of the non-dominant hand. In addition, regular exercises were shown to give influences on reduction of strength gaps between dominant and non-dominant hands. In both groups of left and right handedness, the grip and pinch strength of the dominant hand were significantly higher than those of the non-dominant hand, and regular exercises were shown to give influences on reduction of strength gaps between dominant and non-dominant hand.

  • Two concurrent signals of the pulse wave measured from both hands' radial artery in un-pressurization condition using the prototype model of two clip-type pulsimeters with a permanent magnet and Hall device are investigated. The phase differences of two pulse waves from 22 subjects have some distinct points according to the handedness. Thus, the propagation of the pulse wave calculated from phase difference is both fast and slow to each other. It is confirmed that this phenomenon comes from the difference of blood vessel hardness between right- and left-hand of each subject rather than a quantity of muscle.

  • The purpose of this study is to establish a reference for image acquisition for completion of a standard brain for diverse Korean population, and to develop a management system that saves and manage database of the acquired brain image and personal information of those who were tested. 3D MP-RAGE technique, which has excellent SNR and CNR and reduces the times for image acquisition, was selected for anatomical Image acquisition, and parameter values were obtained for the optimal image acquisition. The database management system was devised to obtain not only anatomical image data but also subjects' basic demographic factors, medical history, handedness inventory state-trait anxiety inventory, A-type personality inventory, self-assessment depression inventory questionnaires of Sasang Constitution Mini-Mental State Examination, intelligence test, and personality test via a survey questionnaire and to save and manage the results of the tests. In addition, this system was designed to have functions of saving, inserting, deleting, searching, and Printing of image da a and personal information of subjects, and to have accessibility to them as well as automatic connection setup with ODBC. This newly developed system may have major contribution to the completion of a standard brain of diverse Korean population in that it can save and manage their image date and personal information.
