Background: This paper presents the findings of a pilot research survey which assessed the degree of balance between safety and productivity, and its relationship with awareness and communication of human factors and safety rules in the aircraft manufacturing environment. Methods: The study was carried out at two Australian aircraft manufacturing facilities where a Likert-scale questionnaire was administered to a representative sample. The research instrument included topics relevant to the safety and human factors training provided to the target workforce. The answers were processed in overall, and against demographic characteristics of the sample population. Results: The workers were sufficiently aware of how human factors and safety rules influence their performance and acknowledged that supervisors had adequately communicated such topics. Safety and productivity seemed equally balanced across the sample. A preference for the former over the latter was associated with a higher awareness about human factors and safety rules, but not linked with safety communication. The size of the facility and the length and type of employment were occasionally correlated with responses to some communication and human factors topics and the equilibrium between productivity and safety. Conclusion: Although human factors training had been provided and sufficient bidirectional communication was present across the sample, it seems that quality and complexity factors might have influenced the effects of those safety related practices on the safety-productivity balance for specific parts of the population studied. Customization of safety training and communication to specific characteristics of employees may be necessary to achieve the desired outcomes.
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: This study examined the differences in psychosocial factors and eating behaviors by the stages of change (SOC) in nutrition management among elementary and middle school athletes. SUBJECTS/METHODS: Subjects were young athletes recruited from the athletic clubs of 10 organizations. Subjects responded to a survey questionnaire, and data on 167 athletes were analyzed. Subjects were grouped into the pre-action or action stage in nutrition management. The χ2 test, t-test, analysis of covariance, and correlation analysis were used in data analysis. RESULTS: Athletes in the action stage (62.3%) compared to the pre-action stage, showed a higher self-efficacy (P < 0.01), and felt more confidence in performing specific eating behaviors (P < 0.05 to P < 0.01). Those in the action stage had more favorable beliefs regarding nutrition (P < 0.001) and agreed less strongly on the specific misconceptions/disadvantages of nutrition (P < 0.01) than those in the pre-action stage. Eating behaviors (P < 0.001) and subscales of the eating behaviors (P < 0.05 to P < 0.01) also differed significantly by the SOC group. Place of eating dinner (P < 0.05) and the person who prepares dinner (P < 0.05) showed significant differences by the SOC group. The relationship of self-efficacy, beliefs regarding nutrition, and eating behaviors to the SOC differed by sports type. Beliefs for football athletes, self-efficacy, and beliefs for baseball athletes were correlated significantly with the SOC, whereas all 3 variables were related to the SOC for handball and other athletes. CONCLUSIONS: This study showed differences in psychosocial factors and eating behaviors between the pre-action and action stages. Nutrition education should include strategies to help young athletes modify their beliefs, mainly misconceptions/disadvantages of nutrition, increase self-efficacy, and adopt specific and desirable eating behaviors. Nutrition education might employ different strategies considering the sports type that student-athletes participate.

In general, the performance of ML(Machine Learning) application is determined by various factors such as the type of ML model, the size of model (number of parameters), hyperparameters setting during the training, and training data. In particular, the recognition accuracy of ML may be deteriorated or experienced overfitting problem if the amount of dada used for training is insufficient. Existing studies focusing on image recognition have widely used open datasets for training and evaluating the proposed ML models. However, for specific applications where the sensor used, the target of recognition, and the recognition situation are different, it is necessary to build the dataset manually. In this case, the performance of ML largely depends on the quantity and quality of the data. In this paper, training data used for motion recognition application is augmented using the kernel density estimation algorithm which is a type of non-parametric estimation method. We then compare and analyze the recognition accuracy of a ML application by varying the number of original data, kernel types and augmentation rate used for data augmentation. Finally experimental results show that the recognition accuracy is improved by up to 14.31% when using the narrow bandwidth Tophat kernel.
We investigated the perception and preferred type of question and analyzed type of questions asked by teachers in elementary science class to identify how teachers' perception of questioning is reflected in teaching practices. We collected the data from questionnaires, deep-interview and audiotaped four classes from grade 3 and six classes from grade 6. The data form deep-interview were analyzed interpretively and Blosser' framework of question was used to analyze questions which teachers used in classes. By interpretation of data from questionnaires, the teachers agreed that questioning affects science class in elementary school. There were a little differences in perceptions of questioning among three teachers. They preferred various types of question rather than a specific type. They didn't have a good understanding of questioning. The result showed that the teachers used frequently cognitive-memory question and convergent thinking question, which belonged to closed questions in their science classes. This didn't accord with their preferred types of question. The causes came from objectives of science instruction, degree of understanding about questioning, preference and confidence for science class. From this findings, we suggested that teachers should be given opportunities to take training courses in questioning in order to use effective questioning in science class.
PIC (Piecewise Integrated Composite) is a new concept for designing a composite structure with mosaically assigning various types of stacking sequences in order to improve mechanical properties of laminated composites. Also, machine learning is a sub-category of artificial intelligence, that refers to the process by which computers develop the ability to continuously learn from and make predictions based on data, then make adjustments without further programming. In the present study, the tapered box beam type PIC robot arm for carrying and transferring wide and thin LCD display was designed based on the machine learning in order to increase structural stiffness. Essential training data were collected from the reference elements, which were intentionally designated elements among finite element models, during preliminary FE analysis. Additionally, triaxiality values for each finite element were obtained for judging the dominant external loading type, such as tensile, compressive or shear. Training and evaluating machine learning model were conducted using the training data and loading types of elements were predicted in case the level accuracy was fulfilled. Three types of stacking sequences, which were to be known as robust toward specific loading types, were mosaically assigned to the PIC robot arm. Henceforth, the bending type FE analysis was carried out and its result claimed that the PIC robot arm showed increased stiffness compared to conventional uni-stacking sequence type composite robot arm.

The Minister of Education has officially announced that the Ministry of Education will promote the integration of early childhood education and care. The core of integration is the integration of kindergartens and child care centers, and it is necessary to develop the specific model, so this study was conducted. After the discussion of integration, the discussion has focused on the "Young Children School", and there were differences of opinion on specific issues. Therefore, this study was conducted to propose the specific model for the "Young Children School" after kindergartens and child care centers were integrated with the Ministry of Education. The research question is to find out what the model of the 0-5-year-old young children school model centered on the Ministry of Education. In this study, assuming that integration of early childhood education and care was realized, a plan for integrating early childhood education institutions by type of establishment was proposed. As a conclusion of this study, first, a model of a 0-5-year-old young children school centered the Ministry of Education under the government responsibility is required. Second, a detailed school model that reflects the characteristics of each type of establishment should be developed. Finally, specific measures such as the reform of the teacher training system, the after-school course operation model, and the integration plan with the office of education and local governments should be presented during the young children school system.

We propose a method to train a model that can predict the probability of a crime being committed. CCTV data by matching criminal events are required to train the crime prediction model. However, collecting CCTV data appropriate for training is difficult. Thus, we collected actual criminal records and converted them to an appropriate format using variables by considering a crime prediction environment and the availability of real-time data collection from CCTV. In addition, we identified new specific crime types according to the characteristics of criminal events and trained and tested the prediction model by applying neural network partial least squares for each crime type. Results show a level of predictive accuracy sufficiently significant to demonstrate the applicability of CCTV to real-time crime prediction.
