  • This paper is to derive the Intensity-Duration-Frequency Curve at Kong-Ju area after estimating probable rainfall depths using Rainfall Frequency Atlas of Korea. It has been suggested that the probable rainfall intensity formulas should be classified by short and long term basis in this area. The coefficients of determination of the probable rainfall intensity formulas are calculated as high as 0.9924 through 0.9971. Four types of rainfall intensity formulas such as Talbot type, Sherman type, Japanese type, General type are considered to determine the best type for the Kong-Ju area. Sherman type applied in this study can be determined as the representative probable rainfall intensity formula in the area. Therefore the rainfall intensity formulas for the selected return period in this study provide valuable insight into the estimation of the rainfall intensity. The developed Intensity-Duration-Frequency Curve can be used to provide a better hydraulic design at Kong-Ju area.

  • The purpose of this study was to qualitatively analyze pressure intensity and the center of pressure(COP) trajectory according to shoe type. Subjects were ten first-year female university students. The EMED-AT 25/D(Novel, Germany) was used to measure pressure intensity and COP trajectory. The COP Excursion Index(CPEI) was used for within subject test design. Independent variables were bare feet and six types of shoes. Dependent variables were center of pressure trajectory and pressure intensity. Barefeet and five toed shoes had a similar pressure intensity and COP trajectory. COP trajectory for all other shoe types showed a medial wobble at the heel. Pressure intensity for all other shoe types was related to the structure of the shoes. In conclusion, different shoe types can not only affect gait, but they can also influence foot deformities, pain, and dysfunction.

  • So most practical combustor is considered to the swirl flame, it is very important to examinate swirl flame structure and combustion characteristics. Recently, attention has been paid to the flame diagnostic by radical luminous intensity. For swirl flame structure and combustion characteristic, reverse flow boundary, temperature, ion current and radical luminous intensity were measured in the double-coaxial swirl combustor which was used principle of multi-annular combustor. This study had three experimental condition, S-type, C-type, SC-type. S-type and C-type flames were formed recirculation zone, but SC-type flame wasn't formed. C-type flame had two recirculation zone. The position with maximum value of ion current and CH-radical, temperature and OH-radical had similarity distribution almost. Therefore, it is possible that the macro structure of flame was measured by radical luminous intensity in the high intensity of turbulent combustion field which was formed by swirl.

  • This paper is to derive the probable rainfall depths and the probable rainfall intensity formulas for Inchon Metropolitan district. The annual maximum rainfall data from 10 min. to 6 hours have been collected from the Inchon weather station. Eleven types of probability distribution are considered to estimate probable rainfall depths for 12 different storm durations at the Inchon Metropolitan district. Three tests including Chi-square, Kolmogorov-Smimov and Cramer Von Mises with the graphical analysis are adopted to select the best probability distribution. The probable rainfall intensity formulas are then determined by the least squares method using the trial and error approach. Five types of Talbot type, Sherman type, Japanese type, Unified type I, and Unified type II are considered to determine the best type for the Inchon rainfall intensity. The root mean squared errors are computed to compare the accuracy from the derived formulas. It has been suggested that the probable rainfall intensities having Unified type I for the short term duration should be the most reliable formulas by considering the root mean squared errors and the difference between computed probable rainfall depth and estimated probable rainfall depth.

  • The rainfall intensity is a very essential factor which must be considered for the estimation of the time of concentration. The rainfall intensity, however, is not fully considered for the estimation of the time of concentration due to the complexity of the equation of rainfall intensity. To increase accuracy of the time of concentration, the rainfall intensity and return period were included in the derivation of the time of concentration equations in this study. The equation of rainfall intensity is Sherman type and the regional coefficients were estimated from the rainfall intensity readings on the probability rainfall maps published by Ministry of Construction and Transportation. For simple calculation of rainfall intensities, the contour maps were drawn that expresses coefficients of the Sherman type equation. By substituting the Sherman type equation of rainfall intensity in the equation of the time of concentration, a relatively simple equation with no repeated calculation has been derived. From the study results, in order to include the influence of the rainfall intensity for the estimation of the time of concentration, it is highly recommended that the Sherman type equation of rainfall intensity be used. When one knows a location in Korea and a return period, he can estimate the coefficients of the rainfall intensity equation and calculate the time of concentration considering the rainfall intensity.

  • Under uniform heat flow, the thermal stress intensity factors for the interfacial crack on a rigid cusp-type inclusion are determined by Hilbert problem expressed with complex variable. The thermal stress intensity factors are expressed in terms of the periodic function of heat flow angle. When the tip of the interfacial crack meets that of the cusp crack, the thermal stress intensity factors have singularities. The thermal stress intensity factors at the interfacial crack tip located in the distance from the cusp crack tip vary with the location of the interfacial crack tip. From the results of the analysis, the complex potential functions and the thermal stress intensity factors for the cusp-type inclusion without the interfacial crack are derived under the cusp surface boundary conditions insulated or fixed to zero relative temperature.

  • Purpose: To analyze the possible association between magnetic resonance imaging signal intensity of temporomandibular joint disk and posterior attachment, and the type and extent of disk displacement, disk configuration, effusion and clinical signs in patients with internal derangement. Materials and Methods: Magnetic resonance images of the 132 temporomandibular joints of 66 patients with temporomandibular joint displacement were analyzed. The clinical findings were obtained by retrospective review of the patients' records. The type and extent of disk displacement, disk configuration and effusion were evaluated on the proton density MR images. The signal intensity from the anterior band, posterior band and posterior attachment were measured on MR images. The associations between the type and extent of disk displacement, disk configuration, effusion and clinical signs and the MR signal intensity of disk and posterior attachment were statistically analyzed by student's t-test. Results: Of 132 joints, 87 (65.9%) showed anterior disk displacement with reduction (ADR) and 45 (34.1%) showed anterior disk displacement without reduction (ADnR). The signals from posterior attachments were lower in joints with ADnR than those of ADR (p<0.05). The results showed statistically significant (p<0.05) association between the type and extent of disk displacement and disk configuration, and decreased signal intensity of posterior attachment. There were no statistical associations between pain, noise and limited mouth opening, and signal intensity of disk and posterior attachment. Conclusions: The average signal from posterior attachment was lower in joints with ADnR than that of ADR. The type and extent of disk displacement and disk configuration appeared to be correlated with the signal intensity from posterior attachment.

  • This study investigated what kind of message forms and information sources more effect according to SNS' type and use intensity. To this end, this study did experimental analysis using collected data by survey which manufactured message forms and situational contents of information sources. According to analysis results, the effect of message forms showed difference according to SNS' type and use intensity. Realistic message showed greater effect in interest-based SNS and high use intensity. Evaluative message showed greater effect in relation-based SNS regardless of use intensity. The effect of information sources showed difference according to SNS' type. Friend or college and knower showed greater effect in relation- based SNS, and company showed greater effect in interest-based SNS. In the case of use intensity, friend or college showed the greatest effect without difference. Such results can provide a practical contribution in planning SNS advertising strategy. Future Studies need to expand survey variously into SNS and subject.
