  • A study on the plant parasitic nematodes (Tylenchida) in JeJu province has been undertaken to know the kinds and distribution of the nemic fauna. The 42 samples taken from 28 kinds of host plants were used. 1. The 22 species belonging to 16 genera in 10 families were discovered in this study and among them Meloidogyne was the most common and widely distributed genus, composing $25\%$, followed by Helicotylenchus $15\%$, Criconemoides $14\%$, Tylenchus $10\%$, Pratylenchus $6\%$, Neolobocriconema $6\%$, Aphelenchus $6\%$, Aphelenchoides $6\%$, Hirshmaniella $3\%$, Heterodera $3\%$ Nothotylenchus $1\%$, Tylenchorhynchus $1\%$, Merlinius $1\%$, Rotylenchus $1\%$ Discocriconemella $1\%$ and Hemicriconemoides $1\%$. 2. The ll species belonging to 10 genera in 7 families such as Nothotylenchus acris, Tylenchorhynchus dubius, Merlinius nothus Pratylenchus minyus, Pratylenchus thornei, Hirshmaniella imamuri, Rotylenchus robustus, Helicotylenchus erythrinae, Meloidogyne arenaria, Discocriconemella hengsungica and Aphelenchoides besseyi were newly discovered species in JuJu province.

  • Pratylenchus loosi Loof, 1960 is recorded for the first time from Korea. The nematode was isolated from the roots of tea (Thea sinensis L.) and soil around the roots from Yeongam-gun, Jeo-llanam-do and Namjeju-gun, Jeju-do, Korea. This species has two lip annuli. The female is 433-646 $\mu\textrm{m}$ long: a= 29.1-37.5, b = 5.1-6.4, c = 15.0-21.3, vulva(%) = 73.0-85.4. The male body length is 408-512$\mu\textrm{m}$ long: a=36.1-40.0, b=4.8-6.7, c =17.0-19.0, and spicule = 14.1-18.0 $\mu\textrm{m}$. The stylet is 11.6-18.0 $\mu\textrm{m}$ long and the number of incisures is four. The shape of spermatheca filled with sperm is broadly rounded, oval and quadrangular The shape of tail is narrowly round to subacute.

  • The measurements of Ditylenchus acutus is similar to Fortuner & Maggenti's 1987 D. acutus (Khan, 1965) except the body length was much longer (L=0.65-0.71 mm vs. L=0.39-0.50 mm) and body width was thinner (a=40-49.2 vs. a=22-28). In addition, Ditylenchus myceliophagus was recorded for the first time in Korea. Thus, both species were described in this paper.

  • Among recent materials identified from Korea two species of Criconematoidea are different from described forms: Criconemella hawangiensis is larger and has a longer stylet than C. paragoodey, head an tail annuli also differ. Hemicycliophora parajuglandis has an outbulging lip area that sits like a hemicircle on the head and pushed the lateral head side inwards; morphology and measurements correspond to H. juglandis and also to H. koreana. Hemicycliophora epichoroides is newly recorded from Korea.

  • Rotylenchus arsenjevi are reported for the first time in Korea. The Korean species differs slightly by having a hemispherical lip region and a slightly shorter tail than the original description (c=38.2-68.7 vs 36-41). Male was founded firstly from Korea and described. Geocenamus adakensis were collected a second time from Korea at a different locality and habitat. The measurements were compared with original description and the firstly collected specimen in Korea.
