Condition assessment for high-speed railway bridges based on train-induced strain response

  • This paper presents the non-destructive evaluation of a high-speed railway bridge using train-induced strain responses. Based on the train-track-bridge interaction analysis, the strain responses of a high-speed railway bridge under moving trains with different operation status could be calculated. The train induced strain responses could be divided into two parts: the force vibration stage and the free vibration stage. The strain-displacement relationship is analysed and used for deriving critical displacements from theoretical stain measurements at a forced vibration stage. The derived displacements would be suitable for the condition assessment of the bridge through design specifications defined indexes and would show certain limits to the practical application. Thus, the damage identification of high-speed railways, such as the stiffness degradation location, needs to be done by comparing the measured strain response under moving trains in different states because the vehicle types of high-speed railway are relatively clear and definite. The monitored strain responses at the free vibration stage, after trains pass through the bridge, would be used for identifying the strain modes. The relationship between and the degradation degree and the strain mode shapes shows certain rules for the widely used simply supported beam bridges. The numerical simulation proves simple and effective for the proposed method to locate and quantify the stiffness degradation.

레스토랑 메뉴 수명주기(Menu Life Cycle) 패턴 분석 - T레스토랑 사례를 중심으로 - (Analysis of the Life Cycle of Menus in Restaurants - A Case Study of 'T' Restaurant -)

  • This study investigated the life cycle of menus and made suggestions on the appropriate time for when new menus should be developed. For this purpose, a total of 636 customers who visited 'T' Restaurant more than 25 times in the past three years were used for analysis. After estimating product life cycles based on sales and selling period, an empirical study was conducted. In terms of product life cycle, a growth stage was observed in the category of pasta and pizza in both stores A and B, whereas sales in the rice category stayed constant. Regarding trend in seasonal sales, a big difference was detected between the two stores. While store A was already in the decline stage of the life cycle in all menu categories, store B remained in the growth stage. In terms of menu life cycle, the product life cycle of long-lived products was observed in the pasta category in both stores A and B. While the pizza category was in the growth stage, the product life cycle of long-lived products was observed in the rice category. It is expected that the results of this study could be useful in development of new menus and product life cycle management to fulfill diverse customer needs in the dining-out business.

LED TV를 위한 단일전력단 전류평형 다채널 LED 구동회로 (Single Stage Current-Balancing Multi-Channel LED Driver for LED TV)

  • A single-stage current-balancing multi-channel light-emitting diode (LED) driver is proposed in this study. The conventional LED driver system consists of two cascaded power conversion stages, i.e., an isolation DC/DC converter and LED driver. LED driver is usually implemented with the same number of expensive boost converters as those of LED channels to tightly control the current through each LED channel. Therefore, its overall system size is not only bulky, but the cost is rather high. By contrast, the proposed LED driver system is composed of a single power stage with the DC/DC converter and LED driver merged. Although the current balancing circuit of the proposed LED driver requires only passive devices instead of expensive boost converters, all currents through multi-channel LEDs can be well balanced. Therefore, the proposed LED driver features a small system size, improved efficiency, and low cost. To confirm the validity of the proposed driver, its operation and performance are verified on a prototype for a 46" LED TV.

단일전럭단을 갖는 고역율 형광등용 전자식 안정기 구현 (Implementation of a High-Power-Factor Single-Stage Electronic Ballast for fluorescent lamps)

  • 본 논문에서는 고역률의 단일전력단을 갖는 형광등용 전자식 안정기를 제안하고 설계ㆍ제작하였다. 저가의 새로운 형태를 갖는 고역률 단일전력단 형광등용 전자식 안정기는 부스터 컨버터와U형 고주파 공진 인버터로 구성되어진다. 그러나, 기존의 안정기와는 달리 제안된 안정기는 브리지 다이오드를 제거하고 간단한 제어회로로 구성함으로 간단한 구조를 갖는다. 부스터 컨버터는 상용전원의 정(+), 부(-)전압에서 각각 동작하고 불연속 모드에서 동작함으로 높은 역률을 얻을 수 있다. 63.5〔W〕의 출력을 갖는 안정기를 제작하여 실험한 결과, PF 0.99, THD 15.4%, CF 1.55의 우수한 결과를 얻을 수 있었다.

바이오가스 정제 설비의 실증 연구 (Empirical Study of Biogas Purification Equipment)

  • 본 연구에서는 난지물재생센터에서 공급되는 바이오가스의 메탄 함량을 높이고 불순물을 정제하기 위해 3단 분리막 정제 공정을 설계하고 설치하여 실증 운전하였다. 2 Nm3/h 정제 공정에서 생산되는 바이오메탄의 메탄농도를 95%, 96.5%, 98%의 3가지 경우로 설정하고 분리막의 막면적비를 1:1, 1:2, 1:1:1, 1:2:1, 1:2:2의 5가지로 변경하여 분리막의 막면적에 대한 최적조건을 도출하였다. 2 Nm3/h의 최적조건을 반영하여 30 Nm3/h 규모의 3단 분리막 공정을 설치하였으며 메탄농도 98% 이상의 바이오메탄 생산을 실증하였다. 2 Nm3/h의 정제장치 운전결과 메탄 설정농도 98%에서 메탄 회수율은 분리막 2단 운전결과 막면적비가 1:1인 경우 95.6%이며 1:2에서 메탄의 회수율은 96.8%로 증가하는 결과를 나타내었고 분리막 3단 운전의 메탄 회수율은 막면적비를 1:2:1로 운전하였을 때 96.8%로 가장 높게 나타났다. 이산화탄소 제거율은 2단공정 막면적비 1:1에서 96.4%이며 1:2에서 95.7%였다. 3단공정에서 막면적비 1:2:1에서 95.4%로 2단공정이 3단공정보다 높은 결과를 보였다. 30 Nm3/h 규모의 바이오가스 정제 실증운전에서 정제 후 메탄농도는 98%이었으며, 메탄의 회수율은 97.1 %, 이산화탄소의 제거율은 95.7%이며 부식의 원인인 황화수소는 검출되지 않았으며 막면적비 1:2:1의 실증운전에서 메탄농도 98%이상의 바이오메탄 생산이 가능했다.

태양광 발전 시스템의 무순단 MPPT 운전 모드 절체 기법 (Seamless Transfer Method of MPPT for Two-stage Photovoltaic PCS)

  • This paper proposes a seamless MPPT operation mode transfer method of photovoltaic system. The photovoltaic system consists of a DC-DC boost converter, a DC-Link, and a 3-level neutral point clamp (NPC) type inverter. The PV voltage fluctuates due to the output characteristics of the solar pane1 depending on the irradiation amount and the temperature. The photovoltaic system requires seamless MPPT mode transfer method that the discontinuity does not occur in order to supply the stable power to system without affecting the fluctuation of the PV voltage. MPPT operation is divided into two modes by the voltage reference. Under the condition that the PV voltage is below 650V, the DC-DC boost converter performs MPPT through duty control based on perturb & observe (P&O) method, and the inverter conducts DC-link voltage and grid current controls in synchronous reference frame. On the other hand, when the PV voltage exceeds above 650V, inverter performs MPPT in accordance with the variation of DC-link voltage control while the converter stops operating. Two MPPT operation modes is smoothly transferred through the proposed method that DC-link voltage or grid current commands are appropriately adjusted from the certain criteria. The feasibility of the MPPT operation mode transfer method is verified using a 10kW solar photovoltaic system, experimental results have good performances that the fluctuation of PV current is reduced to 100%.

  • This paper proposes a new two-stage Z-source converter (TSZC). The purpose of the proposed system is to obtain the ac voltage with a maximum boost voltage for fuel cell applications as a renewable energy source. In order to provide a continuous current path, a switching strategy for the dc-ac ZSI and ac-ac ZSC of the proposed system was used. The operation principle, analysis and simulation results of 1.2 kW fuel cell stack were also presented.

식도 자연 천공 치험 1례 (Spontaneous Rupture of the Esophagus (Boerhaave's Syndrome) -A case report-)

  • Spontaneous esophageal perforation occurred rarely but often lead to a high mortality and morbidity. We had experienced one case of spontaneous rupture of esophagus. A 52 - year old male patient was admitted to our hospital because of the chest pain and massive hematemesis after emetic strain. Esophagogram that taken at private clinic revealed leakage of dye into the right pleural space. Under the diagnosis of the thoracic esophageal perforation, two stage operation was planned because the size of perforation was large and pyothorax was developed on the right side. At first, exclusion and diversion of the esophagus were carried out. After six months, the esophageal reconstruction with left colon was performed.

Analysis and Implementation of a DC-DC Converter with an Active Snubber

  • This paper presents a soft switching converter to achieve the functions of zero voltage switching (ZVS) turn-on for the power switches and dc voltage step-up. Two circuit modules are connected in parallel in order to achieve load current sharing and to reduce the size of the transformer core. An active snubber is connected between two transformers in order to absorb the energy stored in the leakage and magnetizing inductances and to limit the voltage stresses across the switches. During the commutation stage of the two complementary switches, the output capacitance of the two switches and the leakage inductance of the transformers are resonant. Thus, the power switches can be turned on under ZVS. No output filter inductor is used in the proposed converter and the voltage stresses of the output diodes is clamped to the output voltage. The circuit configuration, the operation principles and the design considerations are presented. Finally, laboratory experiments with a 340W prototype, verifying the effectiveness of the proposed converter, are described.

  • We proposed a series connection-type superconducting fault current limiter(SFCL) using E-I core that can prevent the internal magnetic flux generation of cores during normal operation, and prevent the saturation of cores due to a sudden magnetic flux generation at the initial stage of fault occurrence while limiting the peak current. Through a short-circuit simulation experiment, we analyzed the operating status of the two superconducting elements and limiting characteristics according to the size of the fault current peak before and after the failure. Further, the double peak current limiting characteristics according to the winding directions as well as the current and the voltage of each coil were compared and analyzed.
