듀얼-밴드 정삼각형 마이크로스트립 안테나 설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Design of Dual-Band Equilateral-Triangular Microstrip Antennas)

  • For dual-band operation, it can be done by loading two pair of narrow slots in the equilateral-triangular patch, one embedded close to the side edges of the patch and the other inserted at the bottom edge of the patch. The obtained two operating frequencies are of same polarization planes. The frequency ratio of the two operating frequencies is turnabled by varing the positions and lengths of the inserted slots at the bottom edge of the patch. In this paper, A single-feed equilateral-triangular microstrip patch with two pairs of narrow slot for dual-frequency operation is printed on the substrate(TMN-4 Rosers Co.) of the 60 miles. the antenna radiation characteristics are calculated by Ensemble ver. 5.0 software, and compared with the experimental results.

  • 본 논문에서는 차세대 USB dongle 적용을 위한 대역 저지 특성 정합 회로를 갖는 이중 대역 MIMO 안테나를 제안한다. 제안된 이중 대역 MIMO 안테나는 광 대역 특성을 갖는 두 개의 이중 대역 PIFA로 구성된다. LTE 대역의 격리도 특성을 개선하기 위해서, 대역 저지 특성을 갖는 정합 회로가 각각의 안테나 끝부분에 삽입되었다. 삽입된 대역 저지 특성을 갖는 정합 회로는 특정 주파수에서 표면 전류를 억압할 수 있고, LTE 대역의 770 MHz와 DCN 대역의 830 MHz에서 추가적인 공진을 발생시킨다. 제안된 MIMO 안테나는 LTE 대역과 DCN 대역을 동시에 만족시킨다.

Bi-modal spectral method for evaluation of along-wind induced fatigue damage

  • Several analytical procedures available in literature, for the evaluation of wind induced fatigue damage of structures, either assume the wide band random stress variations as narrow band random process or use correction factors along with narrow band assumption. This paper compares the correction factors obtained using the Rainflow Cycle (RFC) counting of the measured stress time histories on a lamp mast and a lattice tower, with those evaluated using different frequency domain methods available in literature. A Bi-modal spectral method has been formulated by idealising the single spectral moment method into two modes of background and resonant components, as considered in the gust response factor, for the evaluation of fatigue of slender structures subjected to "along-wind vibrations". A closed form approximation for the effective frequency of the background component has been developed. The simplicity and the accuracy of the new method have been illustrated through a case study by simulating stress time histories at the base of an urban light pole for different mean wind speeds. The correction factors obtained by the Bi-modal spectral method have been compared with those obtained from the simulated stress time histories using RFC counting method. The developed Bi-modal method is observed to be a simple and easy to use alternative to detailed time and frequency domain fatigue analyses without considerable computational and experimental efforts.

SART용 X-밴드 전력증폭기의 설계와 제작에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Design and Fabrication of X-band Power Amplifier for SART)

  • In this paper, an X-band power amplifier using GaAs FET was designed and fabricated, which is to be used as SART transmitter sweeping at the frequency range of 9.2 GHz~9.5 GHz. The amplifier is consist of two stages using ATF-46101 FET of Hewllett-Packard. Finally, the amplifier using microstrip line matching solution shows that MAG is 23 dB at the center frequency of 9.35 GHz.

고효율 광대역 마이크로스트립 대역통과필터 특성 (Characteristics of High Efficiency Wideband Microstrip Band Pass Filter)

  • 본 논문에서는 구형공진기와 SIOS를 사용하여 삽입손실이 작고, 차단특성이 아주 좁고, 광대역 특성을 갖는 마이크로스트립 대역통과필터를 연구하였다. 계단 입피던스 스터브는 일반$0.25{\lambda}$ 스터브 보다 약 30%의 길이를 줄일 수 있고, 또한 스터브의 임피던스의 크기를 변경할 수 있는 장점이 있음으로 필터의 특성 개선에 적용할 수 있다. 본 논문의 객관성을 입증하기 위해서 이중모드 구형공진기를 사용한 최적화된 광대역 대역통과 필터를 구현하였다. 전송선로 모델을 사용하여 계산한 주파수 특성 결과는 실험 값과 아주 잘 일치하였다. 구현된 필터의 주파수 특성은 $L_4$ = 1.94mm인 경우에 필터의 3dB 대역폭은 52.5%(3.267GHz)이고, 삽입 손실은 0.33dB, 30dB 차단특성은 저주파수 대역에서 221MHz, 고주파수대역에서 0.181MHz이다. 최대 차단특성은 저주파 대역에서 -54dB, 고주파 대역에서 -60dB이다.

  • In this paper the platform system for IEEE 802.15.4 Low Rate WPAN is designed and fabricated. IEEE 802.15.4 Low Rate WP AN system serves the functions and realization of home-area network. According to the IEEE 802.15.4 standard, there are two modes, One is BPSK modulation in 868/915MHz frequency band. The other is O-QPSK modulation in 2.45GHz frequency band. In this paper we implemented the platform system mounted in one PCB board in 868/915MHz frequency band of IEEE 802.15.4 Low Rate WPAN system. We measured that the platform system which consists of digital part and RF part has good performance. Also RF part is realized by design and fabrication of the RF transceiver IC. The key issue is to make the platform system which provides the function of Low Rate WPAN system to meet the requirement of IEEE 802.15.4 standards.

  • This paper describes fast-hopping frequency synthesizers for multi-band OFDM(MB-OFDM) ultra-wide band(UWB) systems. Three different structures in generating 3 center frequencies(3432MHz, 3960MHz, 4488MHz) are designed and compared. The first structure generates 3 center frequencies using only one PLL operating at 4224MHz. The second uses three PLLs operating at corresponding center frequencies. The third employes two PLLs operating at 3960MHz and 528MHz. Simulation results using a 0.18um RF CMOS process parameters show that the third structure exhibit the best characteristics. The band switching time of the proposed synthesizer is less than 1.3ns and the spur is less than -36dBc. The synthesizer consumes 22mA from a 1.8V supply.

X-band Microwave Photonic Filter Using Switch-based Fiber-Optic Delay Lines

  • An X-band microwave photonic (MWP) filter using switch-based fiber-optic delay lines has been proposed and experimentally demonstrated. It is composed of two electro-optic modulators (EOMs) and $2{\times}2$ optical MEMS-switch-based fiber-optic delay lines. By changing time-delay difference and coefficients of each wavelength signal by using fiber-optic delay lines and an electro-optic modulator, respectively, a bandpass filter or a notch filter can be implemented. For an X-band MWP filter with four channel elements, fiber-optic delay lines with the unit time-delay of 50 ps have been experimentally realized and the frequency responses corresponding to the time-delays has been measured. The measured frequency response error at center frequency and the time-delay difference error were 180 MHz at 10 GHz and 3.2 ps, respectively, when the fiber-optic delay line has the time-delay difference of 50 ps.

A Linear Power Amplifier Design Using an Analog Feedforward Method

  • We propose and describe the fabrication of a linear power amplifier (LPA) using a new analog feedforward method for the IMT-2000 frequency band (2,110-2,170 MHz). The proposed analog feedforward circuit, which operates without a pilot tone or a microprocessor, is a small and simple structure. When the output power of the fabricated LPA is about 44 dBm for a two-tone input signal in the IMT-2000 frequency band, the magnitude of the intermodulation signals is below -60 dBc and the power efficiency is about 7%. In comparison to the fabricated main amplifier, the magnitude of the third intermodulation signal decreases over 24 dB in the IMT-2000 frequency band.

Mechanical Dither Design for Ring Laser Gyroscope

  • The gyroscopes have been used as a suitable inertial instrument for the navigation guidance and attitude controls. The accuracy as very sensitive sensor is limited by the lock-in region (dead band) by the frequency coupling between two counter-propagating waves at low rotation rates. This frequency coupling gives no phase difference and an angular increment is not detected. This problem can be overcome by the mechanical dithering. The purpose of the mechanical dithering is to suppress the dead band, oscillate the monoblock about the rotation axis and add an external rotation rate. This paper presents the theoretical considerations of the mechanical performances of dither on the basis of the loading condition and angular characteristics due to the piezoelement deformation and the validity of theoretical equations are compared through FEM (Finite Element Method) simulations.
