Alternating current (AC) losses of two Bi-2223 ([Bi, Pb]: Sr: Ca: Cu: O = 2:2:2:3) tapes [(Tape I, un-twist-pitch) and the other with a twist-pitch of 10 mm (Tape II)] were measured and compared. These samples, produced by the powder-in-(Ag) tube (PIT) method, are multi-filamentary. Also, it's produced by non-twist and different twist pitch (8, 10, 13, 30, 50 and 70 mm). The critical current measurement was carried out under the environment in liquid Nitrogen and in zero-field by 4-probe method. Susceptibility measurements were conducted while cooling in a magnetic field. Flux loss measurements were conducted as a function of ramping rate, frequency and field direction. The AC flux loss increases as the twist-pitch of the tapes decreased, in agreement with the Norris Equation. Neutron-diffraction measurements have been carried out investigate the crystal structure, magnetic structures, and magnetic phase transitions in Bi-2223([Bi, Pb]:Sr:Ca:Cu:O)

For high quality DTP products, it is important to optimize the parameters of media, pre- and after-treatment, ink, printer, etc. This study investigated the effect of types of fabrics(media) as a DTP parameters. Especially, the effects of media properties such as yarn twist and knitted fabric structure, on printability and color difference were examined. Two types of cotton yarn twist(830 and 1630 twist/meter) and five knitted structures of media were prepared with a single circular knitting machine. The K/S values of hard-twist samples were higher than those of normal-twist samples in every media structures. It is more effective to use the knitted fabrics of a hard-twist yarn to obtain dark color in the printing above input level value 60 where the printability improvement was most pronounced in case of plain structure. Among the five media structures a plain structure was the highest and that of corduroy was the lowest in terms of K/S values. Also ${\Delta}E$ values and lightness of the hard-twist yarn samples were smaller than that of normal-twist yarn samples when ${\Delta}E$ values were tested by using a standard of a normal twist yarn sample with a plain structure, which was increased in the case of corduroy structure.
Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting women worldwide. Although the survival rate of breast cancer has increased, breast cancer still results in a high mortality rate. Breast cancer deaths are caused by metastasis that occurs in organ dysfunction. Recently, there have been many studies on circulating tumor cells (CTCs), which are related to breast cancer metastasis in the blood. Recent studies have demonstrated that some CTCs do not express epithelial markers. Therefore, in this study, total RNA was extracted from blood without separating out the CTCs, and the characteristics of the CTCs were analyzed by RT-qPCR. Cyclin D1 and twist-related protein 1 (TWIST1) are well-known markers for predicting the prognosis of patients with breast cancer. However, few studies have demonstrated the use of CCND1 and TWIST1 in blood as diagnostic and prognostic markers of breast cancer. In this study, patients with late-stage breast cancer had overexpressed CCND1 and TWIST1 than patients with different stages of breast cancer (P < 0.001 and P < 0.01, respectively). The relative expression level of CCND1 in survivors was higher than in patients who died (P = 0.06). The relative expression level of TWIST1 in survivors was lower than in patients who died (P = 0.08). Overall CCND1 and TWIST1 were not useful as markers for the diagnosis of breast cancer through blood. However, we showed the possibility of using CCND1 and TWIST1 as prognostic markers, and a large-scale study is needed to confirm the usefulness of these prognostic markers.
The effects of twist induced birefringence on the polarization properties of Er and Nd fiber laser with a linear type cavity were experimentally observed and theoretically analyzed. As the twist rate increases, the polarization states of the polarization eigenmodes are found to be always linear, and their frequencies gradually coincide with each other, and their polarization directions rotate at about half of twist rate at large twist rates.

The present study, to examine the effect of the exercise for weight control, compares the difference of the heart rate and energy expenditure by sex during Twist exercise. Twenty eight adults (male 14, female 14) were carried out Twist exercise for 7 minutes and 14 minutes. During performing the exercise program, to perform HR and related variables were measured for 7 minutes and 14 minutes. Through a twist exercise treatment and the following results were obtained. 1. Females had slightly higher, without statistical significance, number of heart beat, minimum heart rate, maximum heart rate, and average heart rate than male had for both 7 minutes and 14 minutes of Twist exercise. 2. In the case of energy consumption, significant differences did not appear until 7 minutes to perform Twist exercise. On the other hand, the energy consumption for 14 minutes of performance was significantly higher in male than in female (p<.05). However, energy expenditure for the period per minute per unit weight (kcal/min/kg) showed no difference. 3. If more than 30 minutes duration were preformed the Twist exercise, males were expected to consume significantly higher than females (p<.05). To consume calories for the 10,000 step walk of, it would be required about 76 minutes for Twist exercise time without distinction of sex. Through the above findings, twist exercise is a form of aerobic exercise for obesity prevention and weight control, as well as it might be beneficial to practice and maintain the health and physical fitness with offering a variety of exercise opportunities in the public.
Recent studies show the importance of understanding three-dimensional magnetic reconnect ion on the solar surface. For this purpose, I consider non-coplanar magnetic reconnection, a simple case of three-dimensional reconnect ion driven by a collision of two straight flux tubes which are not on the same plane initially. The relative angle e between the two tubes characterizes such reconnection, and can be regarded as a measure of magnetic shear. The observable characteristics of non-coplanar reconnection are compared between the two cases of small and large angles. An important feature of the non-coplanar reconnect ion is that magnetic twist can be produced via the re-ordering of field lines. This is a consequence of the conversion of mutual helicity into self helicities by reconnection. It is shown that the principle of energy conservation when combined with the production of magnetic twist puts a low limit on the relative angle between two flux tubes for reconnect ion to occur. I provide several observations supporting the magnetic twist generation by reconnection, and discuss its physical implications for the origin of magnetic twist on the solar surface and the problem of coronal heating.
Effect of twist-setting time, temperature and cylinder layer for the physical properties of the twist yarn were investigated by separated 9 layer from yarn cylinder. Obtained results were as follow. Shrinkage of the yarn in middle layer shows high value with heat-permeation and in inner's shows low value because of cylinder hardness. And then yarn thermal shrinkage in outer layers shows more or less high value because twist yarn in the outer layer sets more faster. Concerning to the difference on the yam physical properties among cylinder layers, the changes on physical properties shows significant differences from the 7th layer to the last one. Linear density, T.P.M and initial modulus decreases but snarl index increases.
On wide variety of fields, studies on active twist control are becoming more active. For effective twist control, blades have to have low torsional stresses with high torsional deformations to the same magnitude of torque acting on its cross-section. In this study, 2D sectional analysis and 3D finite element analysis were made for 5 different blades with each having different cross - sections which have different spars. The results from 2D sectional analysis, were then put into 3D blade deformation and stress calculations which lead to analysis. Outcomes from 2D and 3D analysis, showed that on the same torque and concentrated load conditions, the blade with 'C' shaped spar was the best of all the blades which were used in this study.
The effect of cashmere yarn twist, knitted fabric density, and cashmere properties on pilling rates of cashmere knitted fabric is investigated in this paper. The experimental results show that yarn twist and fabric density have little influence on pilling rates of cashmere knitted fabric for yarn 38.4 tex/2 when yarn twist varies from 234 T/m to 272 T/m, and the fabric density is 9.7, 10.7, and 11.2 yarns/inch, respectively. The length of cashmere fiber, in particular less than 7.5 mm, is responsible for the pilling rates of cashmere knitted fabric based on optimal scaling regression analysis.
Strands composing multistage superconducting cables for AC power applications have twisted structure in each stage for lower AC loss and higher stability. So, when transport currents flow in a cable, each strand is exposed to longitudinal and azimuthal magnetic fields produced by transport current flowing in strand itself and Iongitudinal and transverse magnetic fields by transport current flowing in twisted cable. In this paper. we study the influence on self field lesses generated in second stage superconducting cable for different twist direction of filaments in a strand considering twist of strands in cables.
