조부모를 위한 황혼육아 프로그램 효과 (Effects of a Twilight Childcare Programs for Grandparents)

  • This study aimed to investigate the effects of a twilight childcare programs for grandparents. The study used a non-equivalent control group and pretest-posttest design. It was conducted from September 1 to November 30, 2023 at senior centers in apartment complex in K city. It analyzed 45 (22 in the experimental group and 23 in the control group.) For data analysis, descriptive statistics, test of homogeneity in pretest, independent t-tests, and repeated measures ANOVA were used. In parenting confidence, the interaction between group and time showed a significant difference (F=30.54, p<.001). In Parenting Stress, the interaction between group and time showed a significant difference(F=10.68, p<.001), For Family Relationships, there was no significant difference in the interaction between group and time. A significant difference was found for life satisfaction(F=3.37, p=.047). This program is effective in increasing parenting confidence and life satisfaction, and reducing parenting stress.

빛공해 및 환경요인에 의한 박새의 새벽 Song 시작시간 영향 연구 (Effects of Light Pollution and Environmental Factors on Dawn Song Initiation Time of Great Tit, Parus major)

  • 본 연구는 빛공해 및 환경요인이 박새의 새벽 울음 시간에 미치는 영향을 밝히는데 목적이 있다. 연구대상지는 빛공해지역은 원주시 상지대학교 캠퍼스를 자연지역은 치악산국립공원 서측 산림으로 선정하였다. 녹음기간은 2014년 3월 26일에서 5월 30일이었다. 빛공해에 따른 새벽 울음 시작 시간을 분석한 결과 빛공해지역이 자연지역보다 먼저 울음을 시작하는 경향이 뚜렷하였다(p<0.05). 박새는 주로 일출 전에 첫 울음을 시작하였는데, 대부분의 조사일에서 상지대학교의 박새가 먼저 울기 시작하였다. 이로 인해 암컷이 미성숙한 수컷과 교미할 확률이 높아지고, 적정 번식기보다 일찍 새끼가 부화함으로 해서 먹이자원이 부족할 가능성이 높을 것으로 판단되었다. 환경요인에 의한 영향은 일출시간, 시민박명, 항해박명, 천문박명, 평균온도, 최고온도, 최저온도, 월출시간, 운량과 박새의 새벽 울음소리와의 상관관계를 분석하였다. 야생조류 울음 시작시간은 월출시간과 운량을 제외한 모든 환경요인의 상관관계가 인정되었다. 박새는 일출시작 이전에 날이 밝아지기 시작하는 시민박명 전후에 첫 울음을 시작하였고, 일출시간과 대기 온도가 상승함에 따라 새벽 울음 시작시간도 앞당겨졌다. 월출시간과 운량은 상관관계가 인정되지 않았는데 이에 대해서는 추가적인 연구가 필요하다.

Development of an AutoFlat program for the acquisition of effective flat images in the automated observation system

  • The purpose of this study is to develop an observation program for obtaining effective flat images that are necessary for photometric observation. The development of the program was achieved by improving the existing method for obtaining twilight flat images. The existing method for obtaining twilight flat images acquires flat images by observing the sky light after sunset or light before sunrise. The decision of when to observe flat images at each night is solely dependent on the judgment of an observer, and thus the obtained flat images for particular nights may not be clean. Especially, in the case of the observatories where an automated observation system is in operation, there is a difficulty that an observer should pay attention during sunrise and sunset in order to obtain flat images. In this study, a computer program is developed to improve this inconvenience and to efficiently perform photometric observation in the observatories where an automated observation system is applied. This program can obtain flat images by calculating the time for obtaining flat images automatically and the exposure time using a numerically calculated function. When obtaining twilight flat images at dusk and at dawn, the developed program performs automated observation and provides effective flat images by acquiring appropriate exposure time considering the sunrise and sunset times that vary depending on the day of observation. The code for performing this task was added to Obs Tool II (Yoon et al. 2006), which is the automated observation system of the Chungbuk National University Observatory, and the usefulness of the developed program was examined by performing an actual automated observation. If this program is applied to other observatories where automated observation is in operation, it is expected that stable and high-quality flat images could be obtained, which can be used for the pre-processing of photometric observation data.

Collision Risk Analysis in Busan Harbour

  • This thesis, concentrates on marine collision risks of the area divided by cells. Using a gas molecular collision calculation model, a collision risk model is proposed. Collision risk is estimated by relative angle, relative speed, and ship's density in the cell. For one week, Automatic Identification System (AIS) data was collected and analyzed on the Busan North Port area. The results indicate a high-risk area at the sea route connection point in Busan North Port. It also shows that twilight is the time of day when most collisions occur. This means that the area is high risk due to the number of collisions and other dangerous factors related to twilight. Although there is still need to consider other risks such as grounding risks, the results of this study are useful to for plotting a risk map for the port.

Statistical Analysis of Ship Collision Accidents by Day and Night Times

  • Sunrise and sunset times differ depending on location and date. Previous studies conveniently but monotonously applied day and night times set up. This research defined the daytime and nighttime while considering the time of twilight according to the date and the location of ship collision accidents. Classifying the frequency of ship collision accidents with this standard, we conducted a chi-squared test for the difference between daytime and nighttime. The frequencies of ship collision accidents according to daytime and nighttime was compared by season, month, and time, and all of them showed statistically significant differences. The highest number of daytime ship collisions was 11.6 %, in June, and nighttime collisions peaked at 13.7 %, in December. The most frequent hour for daytime ship collisions was 0700h-0800h, at 10.2 %, and nighttime collisions peaked between 0400h-0500h, at 16.9 %. It is clear that the criteria used in previous studies cited was applied without any theoretical basis and likely only for the convenience of the researchers. It was found that results depend on what criteria are applied to the same research data. This study shows that statistical analyses of marine accidents, traffic volume, and congestion density should be carried out quantitatively while considering daytime and nighttime hours for each particular location and date.

한국사에서 하루의 시작은 언제부터인가? (AT WHAT TIME A DAY BEGINS IN THE KOREAN HISTORY?)

  • [ ${\ll}$삼국사기${\gg},\;{\ll}$고려사${\gg},\;{\ll}$조선왕조실록${\gg},\;{\ll}$승정원일기${\gg}$ ]에 나오는 천문 관측 기록 가운데 특히 달가림(lunar occultation) 기록을 분석하여 당시의 시간제도와 하루의 시작점을 알아냈다. 특히, 조선시대에는 일식이나 월식을 계산할 때는 백각법(百刻法)과 12진각법(十二辰刻法)이 사용되었고 하루의 시작점은 자정이었으나, 일상생활과 특히 천문관측에서는 경점법(更點法)이 사용되었는데, 하루의 시작점은, 최소한 고려시대부터는, 해 뜰 무렵임을 확인하였다. 또한 전통적으로 동아시아 문화권에서 사용한 혼명(昏明)의 시간은 현대의 항해박명(nautical twilight)을 뜻함을 알아냈다. 우리의 결과는 현재 일상생활의 시간관념이 옛날 시간제도에서 비롯되었음을 말해주며, 농경사회에서 해의 뜨고 짐에 따라 일상생활이 정해지고 또한 천문 관측상 편리하기 때문에 경점법을 쓴 것이라고 해석된다. 우리의 연구 결과는 앞으로 고대 천문 관측 기록의 시간을 정확하게 미루어 계산하고, 그것을 현대 천문학적 자료로 사용하는데 유용할 것이다.

Evolution of Visual Pigments and Related Molecules

  • In photoreceptor cells, light activates visual pigments consisting of a chromophore (retinal) and a protein moiety (opsin). Activated visual pigments trigger an enzymatic cascade, called phototransduction cascade, in which more than ten phototransduction proteins are participating. Two types of vertebrate photoreceptor cells, rods and cones, play roles in twilight and daylight vision, respectively. Cones are further classified into several subtypes based on their morphology and spectral sensitivity. Though the diversities of vertebrate photoreceptor cells are crucial for color discrimination and detection of light over a wider range of intensities, the molecular mechanism to characterize the photoreceptor types remains unclear. We investigated the amino acid sequences of about 50 vertebrate opsins, and found that these sequences can be classified into five fundamental subfamilies. Clear relationships were found between these subfamilies and their characteristic spectral sensitivities. In addition to opsins, we studied other phototransduction proteins. The amino acid sequences of phototransduction proteins can be classified into a few subfamilies. Even though their spectral sensitivity is considerably different, cones fundamentally share the phototransduction protein isoforms which are different from those found in rods. It is suggested that the difference in phototransduction proteins between rods and cones is responsible for their sensitivity to light. Isoforms and their selective expression may characterize individual photoreceptor cells, thus providing us with physiological functions such as color vision and daylight/twilight visions.

Supplementary Blue and Red Radiation at Sunrise and Sunset Influences Growth of Ageratum, African Marigold, and Salvia Plants

  • BACKGROUND: Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) with lower electric cost and the specific wavelength have been considering as a novel light source for plant production in greenhouse conditions as well as in a closed culture system. Supplementary lighting for day-length extension was considered as light intensity, light quality, and/or photoperiod control on plant growth and development. Effects of supplementary blue or red LED radiation with lower light intensity on growth of Ageratum (Ageratum houstonianum Mill., cv. Blue Field), African marigold (Tagetes erecta L., cv. Orange Boy), and Salvia (Salvia splendens F. Sello ex Ruem & Schult., cv. Red Vista) were discussed during sunrise and sunset twilight in the experiment. METHODS AND RESULTS: Supplementary lighting by blue and red LEDs for 30 (Treatment B30; R30) or 60 (Treatment B60; R60) min. per day were established in greenhouse conditions. Photosynthetic photon flux for supplementary radiation was kept at $15{\mu}mol\;m^{-2}\;s^{-1}$ on the culture bed. Natural condition without supplementary light was considered as a control. The highest shoot and root dry weights were shown in African marigold exposed by red light for 60 min. per day. Supplementary blue and red lighting regardless of the radiation time significantly stimulated development of lateral branches in African marigold. Stem growth in Ageratum and Salvia seedlings was significantly promoted by red radiation as well as natural light. CONCLUSIONS: Extending of the radiation time at sunrise and sunset twilight using LEDs stimulated reproductive growth of flowering plant species. Different characteristics on growth under supplementary blue or red lighting conditions were also observed in the seedlings during supplementary radiation.

Diel and seasonal activity pattern of alien sika deer with sympatric mammalian species from Muljangori-oreum wetland of Hallasan National Park, South Korean

  • Background: Sika deer, Cervus nippon, were originally introduced to South Korea from Japan and Taiwan for commercial farming purposes. Unfortunately, they were released into the wild during religious events and have since begun to impact the native ecosystem and species endemic to South Korea. The study of activity patterns can improve our understanding of the environmental impact of non-native species and their association with sympatric species. Using camera traps, we studied the diel and seasonal activity patterns of non-native sika deer and quantified the temporal overlap with sympatric mammalian species in the Muljangori-oreum wetlands of Hallasan National Park, South Korea. Results: A total of 970 trap events were recorded for five mammalian species from nine locations during the camera-trap survey. Siberian roe deer (Capreolus pygargus tianschanicus) had the highest number of recorded events (72.0%), followed by sika deer (Cervus nippon) (16.2%), wild boar (Sus scrofa) (5.0%), Asian badger (Meles leucurus) (4.5%), and the Jeju weasel (Mustela sibirica quelpartis) (2.0%). Sika deer had bimodal activity patterns throughout the year, with peaks throughout the spring-autumn twilight, and day and night time throughout the winter. Relating the daily activity of sika deer with other mammalian species, roe deer expressed the highest degree of overlap (Δ4 = 0.80) while the Asian badger demonstrated the lowest overlap (Δ4 = 0.37). Conclusions: Our data show that sika deer are a crepuscular species with seasonal variations in daily activity patterns. Additionally, we identified the temporal differences in activity peaks between different mammals in the Muljangori-oreum wetlands and found higher degree of overlap between sika deer and roe deer during twilight hours.

게이미피케이션 기반의 퀴즈 활동이 정형화 배열 회상에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Using Gamification-Based Quiz on Recalling Formulaic Sequences)

  • 본 연구는 게이미피케이션 기반의 퀴즈 활동이 정형화 배열의 회상에 미치는 영향을 알아보는 것을 목적으로 한다. 서울 소재 대학의 교양 영어 수업을 듣는 신입생 87명을 대상으로 실험을 진행하였다. 교재는 Marvel Cinematic Universe과 Twilight 및 Harry Potter 등 유명 프랜차이즈의 내용을 소재로 하는 EFL 교재를 이용하였다. 실험은 어휘 학습, 독해하기, 작문하기 순서로 진행하였다. 네 번째 활동은 두 집단에서 다르게 진행하였다. 실험집단은 게이미피케이션 기반의 퀴즈를 이용하여 정형화 배열을 연습하는 활동을 하였고, 비교집단은 독해한 내용을 요약하는 활동을 하였다. 평가는 정형화 배열 의미 회상과 형태 회상으로 나누어 실시하였다. 평가 결과, 정형화 배열 의미 회상 평가에서는 집단 간의 차이가 없었으나 사후 정형화 배열의 형태 회상 평가에서 실험집단이 비교집단에 비해 높은 점수를 나타냈고 이는 유의미한 차이로 나타났다.
