  • Recent increase of eco-conscious trends and pleasure from Do It Yourself (DIY) activities have led to a surge in sales of package products bundling together clothing patterns and raw materials. However, a well-structured market system is yet to be established. We surveyed 460 women with sewing as a hobby who had purchased these DIY clothing pattern packages. The survey revealed that majority of respondents had their hobby for over five years. Choosing the right fabric to match clothing patterns presented a common challenge. Most participants owned a sewing machine and an overlocker, with price being the primary concern when purchasing a package. For guidance during the sewing process, participants preferred print materials featuring real-life images. Those with less sewing experience leaned towards video tutorials. Items of interest or those commonly created included blouses, shirts, and dresses. Desire for further learning in sewing and pattern-making was prominent, with a clear preference for online classes. Several strategies are recommended to enhance the appeal of DIY clothing package products, including broadening range of packages that incorporate fabric, offering supplementary educational resources to improve users' skills, implementing affordable pricing structures, supplying comprehensive creation guidelines, and making available design modification guides. These considerations could significantly boost customer satisfaction. This research intends to lay groundwork for understanding DIY clothing creation market, ultimately fostering production of highly desirable products. Insights of this study will prove instrumental in refining product development and devising effective marketing tactics, leading to a more rewarding consumer experience.

  • Purpose : Since PBL was first developed by Howard Barrows at McMaster, it has been adopted as one of the best teaching and learning methods in medical schools throughout the world. However, the educational superiority of PBL relative to traditional approaches is less clear. Given the somewhat extensive resources required for the operation of PBL curriculum, this gives reason for concern. The aim of this study is to review experiences of PBL in other medical schools and learn how to implement PBL in our school. Methods : This study was undertaken in two stages. In the first stage, PBL curricular examples in 7 medical schools (University of Pennsylvania, University of Melbourne, University of Maastricht, McMaster University, Flinders University, Harvard medical school. University of California at L.A.) were collected and summarized. In the second stage, a careful search for articles of journals published since 2000 regarding PBL group assessment, effectiveness of PBL and group facilitation skills was conducted. Results : PBL is generally introduced in a core curriculum in undergraduate medical education. Relating to small group assessment, the perception of students has been well developed. but the current PBL assessment tool needs to be revised, to develop thinking skills of students. The PBL graduates considered themselves as having much better interpersonal skills, better competencies in problem solving and self-directed learning than the non-PBL graduates. Tutors used various techniques to raise awareness, facilitate the group process and direct learning. Conclusions : The following three aspects can be regarded as important in this study. First, to implement PBL in our school more effectively, it might be considered, which curriculum content can be best learned with PBL. Second, to enhance students' thinking skills during PBL, a new assessment tool needs to be developed. Third, tutors' competencies are important to facilitate, group process, so it would be worthwhile including in staff development.

  • A growing interest in management and treatment for patients with temporomandibular disorder(TMD) by many health workers, including oriental medicine doctors, physical therapists as well as dentists, have been noted in South Korea. Some of these health workers claim correlation between dental occlusion, TMD, and systemic symptoms such as tinnitus, dizziness, neck pain, myalgia, low back pain, posture and many other systemic symptoms and many controversial treatments are being carried out on bases of theories and reasons with no strong scientific evidence. This article is a result of preliminary study by authors in gathering scientific data on few of these various treatment modalities for TMD using MEDLINE data, internet and tutorials given by those who are using these TMD treatment methods. The modalities that had been searched are as follows; (1) Craniosacral mechanism (2) Osteopathy (3) Myodontics (4) Chirodontics (5) Dental Distress Syndrome and Quadrant Theorem. An outline of those theories will be introduced, and the contents in detail for respective theory will be reported in the following articles.

  • PBL is a process and an effective educational tool that empower the student to be an active participant and emphasize a clinical context for learning, developing skills in working with a group, and encouraging self-directed study. The purpose of this study was to develop the PBL module based on lung cancer case, and to evaluate after implementation. The data on lung cancer patients at C university hospital in K city were collected from interviews and nursing records in June, 1999. A PBL module was developed including situation scenarios, timetable and tutor guide. PBL course was conducted at C university for short term period (3 days) in August, 2000. Fourteen nursing students at C college were participated in this study and they were divided into two small groups. I explained them about the PBL course through a preparatory meeting. At a stage of implementation, two groups went through the same process consisting of seven steps with group meetings and self-directed study. Their performances of identifying, stating problems and presenting referred resources were evaluated and supervised by researcher. The PBL course was evaluated by them with questionnaire and essay. Most students responded positively about PBL course and preferred the tutors in a supportive attitude. However, 3 days for PBL course seemed not enough for maximal educational benefits, and many possible problems were discussed. It is necessary for nursing educators to accumulate lots of knowledge and skills regarding creating good working problems and implementing and evaluating diverse PBL tutorials to test the feasibility changing to PBL curriculum.

  • Background: Work-related stress is one of the major causes of occupational ill health. In line with the regulatory framework on occupational health and safety (OSH), adequate models for assessing and managing risk need to be identified so as to minimize the impact of this stress not only on workers' health, but also on productivity. Methods: After close analysis of the Italian and European reference regulatory framework and workrelated stress assessment and management models used in some European countries, we adopted the UK Health and Safety Executive's (HSE) Management Standards (MS) approach, adapting it to the Italian context in order to provide a suitable methodological proposal for Italy. Results: We have developed a work-related stress risk assessment strategy, meeting regulatory requirements, now available on a specific web platform that includes software, tutorials, and other tools to assist companies in their assessments. Conclusion: This methodological proposal is new on the Italian work-related stress risk assessment scene. Besides providing an evaluation approach using scientifically validated instruments, it ensures the active participation of occupational health professionals in each company. The assessment tools provided enable companies not only to comply with the law, but also to contribute to a database for monitoring and assessment and give access to a reserved area for data analysis and comparisons.
