  • This paper presents the new design of flat electromagnetic actuator. Novel shorted turn and copper center pole are placed into existent design in order to reduce the inductance of coil and accelerate the initial response. Finite element analysis using commercial electromagnetic solver “MAXWELL” is performed to simulate the improvement of dynamic characteristics such as fast initial response and so on.

  • NMR studies on the structure of the luteinizing hormone releasing hormone (LHRH) in aqueous buffer and trifluoroethanol (TFE)/aqueous buffer (1:1, v/v) solution were performed. The NMR data under these conditions suggested a unique conformation which includes a ${\beta}$-1 turn of the Tyr5-Arg8 segment and an unusual turn of Ser4-Gly6 segment staggered with the ${\beta}$-I turn. • Stochastic simulation technique has advantages over deterministic simulation in various engineering analysis, since stochastic simulation can take into consideration of scattering of various design variables, which is inherent characteristics of physical world. In this work, Monte-Carlo simulation mothod in ADAMS/Insight for steady-state cornering and J-turn behavior of a truck with design variables like hard points and busing stiffnesses have performed to achieve better dynamic performance. The main purpose is to improve understeer gradient at steady-state cornering and minimize peak lateral acceleration and peak yaw rate at J-turn. Through correlation analysis, design variables that have high impacts on the cornering behavior were selected, and significant performance improvement has been achieved by appropriately changing the high impact design variables.

  • In this paper, A fuzzy logic based turn-off angle compensator for torque ripple reduction in a linear switched reluctance motor is proposed. The turn-off angle, as a complex function of motor speed and current, is automatically changed for a wide speed range to reduce torque ripple. Simulation results are presented that show ripple reduction when the turn-off angle compensator is used.

  • In this study, we deal with the system design and development of the automatic page passing machine. In order to turn pages without injury of a book or a musical note, we used an inhalation motor. Also, when we turn over pages. the successive actions of fixation and inhalation are embodied by motors which are operated by a microprocessor. In traditional products. some limited pages must be fixed into the Turning Bar in advance. On the contrary, proposed equipment is able to turn over the pages of a book without laying the groundwork. Experimental results using produced facilities are presented to demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed equipment.

  • A novel lossless passive snubber is proposed for soft switching the boost type converters. The proposed snubber does not use any auxiliary switches. but uses two identical snubber capacitors which are charged in parallel at turn off of the main switch and discharged in series at turn on automatically, and the discharged energy is recovered effectively (more than $95[\%]$ recovery) into the output capacitor. Thus, the snubber provides zero voltage switching for the converter main switch, reducing both the turn off losses and the electromagnetic interference(EMI) noise, whitch improves the converter performance. The experimental results of a 20[kHz] 600[W] DC-DC boost converter and a single-phase AC-DC boost rectifier with the new snubber are presented.

  • The inter-turn fault (ITF) causes the negative sequence components in the d -q voltage equation due to an increase in the unbalance of three-phase input currents. For this reason, d -q voltage equation become complicate as the voltage equation is classified into positive and negative components. In this study, we propose a simplified d -q equivalent circuit of an interior permanent magnet synchronous motor under ITF state. First, we proposed modeling method for d -q current based on the finite element method simulation results. Then, we developed the simplified d -q equivalent circuit by applying the proposed d -q current modeling.

  • The C-ITS (Cooperative-intelligent Transport System) is a driver assistance system that prevents car accidents and enhances traffic conditions, via sharing traffic information between vehicles and roadway infrastructures. A CLAS (changing lane assistance system) for unprotected left-turn, is a C-ITS that assists a driver with safely changing lanes. This system addresses a driver's critical gap, that enables the system to express a driver's uncertainty. A driver's critical gap is a time that can be used in a threshold, to change a lane or not. Unfortunately, a driver's critical gap is difficult to use in a CLAS directly. This paper addresses a driver's critical gap, and how it can be applied in a CLAS for an unprotected left-turn.

  • This paper describes a tree-based conversational interface supporting efficient presentation of turn relations on online conversation. Most of conventional conversational interfaces are difficult to make use of formal conversation such as group meeting, decision-making, etc. due to very simplicity of a con versational interface and restriction of data structure of conversational messages. And a tree-based conversational interface supports formal conversation, but they are difficult to present turn relations because of jumpy display by locations of replied turns and distance between replied turns, etc. So this paper suggests a tree-based conversational interface to present efficiently turn relations using XML-based messages with merits of a text-based interface. The suggested conversational interface was implemented by using XML-, DOM, and JDK. And this paper showed that the conversational interface could be applied to conversation system using client- server architecture. Applications for the conversational interface are as follows: collaboration, distance teaming, online game, etc.
