부가물-평판 접합부 주위의 난류유동 계산 (Computation of Turbulent Appendage-Flat Plate Juncture Flow)

  • 평판 위에 놓여진 스트럿(strut) 주위의 난류유동을 MAC 방법에 의하여 수치계산하였다. 난류 모델은 Baldwin-Lomax 모델이며 평판과 스트럿의 접합부 부근에서의 처리를 위하여 Buleev의 m2ixing length를 도입하였다. 계산결과의 검증을 위하여 DTRC의 풍동 실험 결과와 비교하였다. 실험에서 나타난 horseshoe vortex가 계산에서도 재현되는 등 전반적으로 계산결과와 실험결과 간에 좋은 일치를 볼 수 있었다. 그러나 접합부에서 극히 가까운 부근과 스트럿의 후류에서는 불일치를 보여 이 곳에서의 난류모델의 개선이 필요한 것으로 보여졌다. 결론적으로 평판과 스트럿의 접합부 부근의 유동을 계산함에 있어서 Baldwin-Lomax 모델은 도입된 많은 단순화를 위한 가정에도 불구하고 실용적으로 유용한 결과를 주는 것으로 보여진다.

선박의 저항성능 추정을 위한 EARSM 난류 모형의 활용 (Numerical Prediction of Ship Hydrodynamic Performances using Explicit Algebraic Reynolds Stress Turbulence Model)

  • In this study, Explicit Algebraic Reynolds Stress Model (EARSM) which is based on the existing ${\kappa}-{\omega}$ model has been applied to the flow field analysis around ship hulls. Existing transport equations for the turbulent kinetic energy and the dissipation rate are used in almost the same form and anisotropy terms of Reynolds stresses are newly considered. The well-known KVLCC2 and KCS hull forms are selected as validation cases, which were also used in 2010 Workshop on CFD in Ship Hydrodynamics. In case of KVLCC2 double model, comparison of mean velocity distribution, turbulent kinetic energy, and Reynolds stresses near the propeller plane has been carried out and wave elevation and wave profiles have been additionally studied for KCS and KVLCC2 with free surface models. Some improved results for mean velocity distribution at the propeller plane have been obtained while there is little change in free surface wave profiles.

다공성 방풍벽의 다공도가 펜스후류 속도장에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (Effect of fence porosity on the velocity field of wake flow past porous wind fences)

  • Velocity fields of near turbulent was behind a porous wind fence were measured using the 2-frame PTV method in a circulating water channel. The fences used in this study had different geometric porosity(.epsilon.) of 0, 20, 40 and 65%. The fence was embedded in a thin laminar boundary layer, i.e., .delta./H ~ = 0.1. Reynolds number based on the fence height H and free stream velocity(U$\_$o/) was about 8,400. As a result, a recirculating flow region was formed behind the fence for the .epsilon.=0% and 20% wind fence. For the wind fences having porosity larger than .epsilon.=40%, it was difficult to see separation bubbles behind the fence. The .epsilon.=20% porous fence reveals the maximum velocity reduction, however, the turbulent intensity and Reynolds shear stress are much greater than those of .epsilon.=40% fence. Among the wind fence tested in this study, the porous wind fence of .epsilon.=40% porosity is the most effective for abating wind erosion.

유한체적법을 이용한 상선주위의 난류유동 계산에 관한 연구 (Development of Computational Methods for Viscous Flow around a Commercial Ship Using Finite-Volume Methods)

  • 선수와 선미에 벌브를 가진 현대적인 상선 주위의 난류유동을 해석하기 위해 유한체적법을 이용한 RANS 방정식의 해법이 개발되었다. 복잡한 선수미의 격자계 생성을 위해 다중블록 선체표면 격자계 생성 기법이 도입되었고, 타원형 미분 방정식의 해를 이용하여 O-H 형태의 공간 격자계생성 기법이 이용되었다. 지배방정식의 대류항과 확산항은 각각 QUICK과 중앙차분법을 이용하여 근사되었고, 속도-압력 연성을 위해 SIMPLEC법이 채택되었다. 개발된 방법은 KRISO 3600TEU 컨테이너선에 적용하여 유선가시화 실험 및 반류계측 결과와 비교하였다. 계산 결과는 선수와 선미에 벌브를 가진 현대적인 선형 주위의 유동 해석을 위해서도 이러한 수치계산 방법이 적용될 수 있음을 보여주고 있다.

Comparison of Turbulence Models for the Prediction of Wakes around VLCC Hull Forms

  • Turbulent flow calculations are performed for the two modern practical VLCCs with the sable forebody and the slightly different afterbody, i.e. KVLCC and KVLCC2. Three $\textsc{k}-\varepsilon$ turbulence models are tested to investigate the differences caused by the turbulence models. The calculated results around the two VLCC hull forms using O-O grid topology and profile-fitted surface meshes are compared to the measured data from towing tank experiment. The realizable $\textsc{k}-\varepsilon$model provided realistic wake distribution with hook-like shape, while the standard and RNG-based $\textsc{k}-\varepsilon$models failed. It is very encouraging to see that the CFD with relatively simple turbulence closure can tell the difference quantitatively as well as qualitatively for the two hull forms with stern frameline modification.

  • A wind turbine simulation program for the coupled dynamics of aerodynamics, elasticity, multi-body dynamics and controls of turbine is newly developed by combining an aero-elastic code and a multi-body dynamics code. The aero-elastic code, based on the blade momentum theory and generalized dynamic wake theory, is developed by NREL(National Renewable Energy Laboratory, USA). The multi-body dynamics code is commercial one which is capable of accounting for geometric nonlinearity and twist deflection. A turbulent wind load case is simulated for the NREL 5-MW baseline wind turbine model by the developed program and FAST. As a result, the two results agree well enough to verify the reliability of the developed program.

CALMET 및 ENVI-MET를 이용한 산업단지 입지에 따른 국지 바람장 분석 (An Analysis of Local Wind Field by Location of Industrial Complex using CALMET and ENVI-MET)

  • In this study, a diagnostic wind model, CALMET and a micrometeorological numerical model, ENVI-MET were used to analyze the wind field in and out of the site designated for the industrial complex around Buron-myeon, Wonju, Gangwon-do. The results of modeling with CALMET showed that the air flow in industrial complex was little affected by the surrounding terrain. And the result of wind field analysis with ENVI-MET showed there are turbulent air flows such as cavity and wake around structures in the industrial complex, which can cause high-air pollution. Therefore, it is necessary to design the industrial complex considering the wind path according to wind directions.

공기 냉각 시스템의 홴 소음 예측 기법 (Fan Noise Prediction Method of Air Cooling System)

  • Fan noise prediction method is presented for air conditioning, automobile and electronic cooling system applications where fan acts as an internal equipment having very complicated flow interaction with other various system components. The internal flow paths and distribution in the fan-applied systems such as computer or air conditioner are analyzed by using the FNM(flow network modeling). Fan noise prediction method comprises two models for the discrete frequency noise due to rotating steady aerodynamic lift and blade interaction and for the broadband noise due to turbulent boundary layer and wake vortex shedding. Based on the fan operation point predicted from the FNM analysis results and fan design parameters, the present far noise model predicts overall sound pressure level and spectrum. The predictions for the flow distribution, the fan operation and the noise level in air cooling system by the present method are well agreed with 3-D CFD and actual noise test results.

수직벽 전방에서의 흡입/토출을 이용한 후류제어 연구 (Study of Wake Control by Blowing and Suction in Front of the Vertical Fence)

  • The effect of periodic blowing and suction of upstream flow on the separated shear flow behind the vertical fence was experimentally investigated. The fence was submerged in the turbulent shear flow and DPIV method was used to measure the instantaneous velocity fields around the fence. Periodic blowing and suction flow was precisely generated by the syringe pump. Spanwise nozzle made 2D planar periodic jet flow in front of the fence and the effect of frequency and maximum jet velocity was studied. From the results, the reattachment length can be reduced by 60% of uncontrolled fence case under the control.

  • A homogeneous flow field including more than 2000 spherical particles was directly simulated. Particles are settling by gravity with the Reynolds number ranging from 50 to 300, based on diameter and slip velocity. Particular attention was focused on the distribution of particles. The Reynolds-number dependence, influences of particle rotation and loading ratio, and the dynamics of particle clusters are discussed. In the higher Reynolds number case, the wake attraction causes particle clusters and the average drag coefficient decreases significantly. Non-rotating particles maintain cluster structure and rotating ones moves randomly in the horizontal direction. It is because of the difference in the direction of the lift force.
