  • In this paper, it is analyzed theoretically that the performance degradation, caused by carrier frequency offset, in an OFDM/M-ary PSK system. Then, when Turbo coding is adopted to an OFDM/M-ary PSK system, the degree of performance enhancement is evaluated. Finally, the maximum frequency offset is calculated to satisfy the BER performance required in a Turbo coded OFDM/M-ary PSK system. As results of analysis, it is shown that the more the number of M-ary is, the worse the BER performance is. Moreover, 7dB, 9dB, and 17dB of $E_b/N_o$ are required in QPSK, 8PSK and 16PSK systems, respectively in order to satisfy the error performance, $BER=10^{-3}$ for voice communication. If $E_b/N_o$ are 10㏈ and 15㏈, the frequency offset should be below 0.05 and 0.075, respectively, for voice communication. When Turbo coding is adopted to an OFDM/M-ary PSK system, the less the number of M-ary is, the greater the performance enhancement of Turbo coding is. If the number of a M-ary system of the system is below 16, it is found that required $E_b/N_o$ is about 8dB to satisfy $BER=10^{-5}$ Moreover, in the system the Turbo coding scheme, voice communication is available with greatly low$E_b/N_o$, and 8dB of $E_b/N_o$ is enough for data communication regardless of the permission range of frequency offset.

  • This paper presents dynamic analysis of FCEV (Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle) Turbo Blower. To analyze the dynamic characteristics of Turbo Blower, finite element model which consists of solid elements is constructed. Evaluation of stress for safety of rotor sleeve due to centrifugal force, Shrink fit analysis in maximum rotation speed is performed. Rotor dynamic analysis of Turbo blower is conducted using Campbell diagram and FEA (Finite element analysis) results are compared with experimental results to evaluate of validity of finite element model. To evaluate of Structure vibration characteristics, Modal analysis and forced vibration analysis are performed through FEA and experiment.

  • In this paper, a concatenated RS and Turbo code is proposed for OFDM system over burst error channel. The concatenated code used in this study is a RS(255,2D2) code and a rate 1/2 turbo code. The turbo code uses 2 recursive systematic convolutional (RSC) code as the constituent codes and the parity bit are punctured to get the desired code rate. It is shown by simulation that the conventional OFDM system fails when there exists burst noise. The concatenated RS and turbo code obtains at least 5dB gain over the turbo code at the bit error probability of $10^{-3}$.

  • Turbo codes of long block sizes have been known to show very good performance in an AWGN channel and the turbo code has been strongly recommended as error correction code for IMT-2000 in 3GPP(3rd Generation Partnership Project). Recently, turbo codes of short block sizes suitable for real time communication systems have attracted a lot of attention. Thus, in this paper we consider the turbo code of 1/3 code rate and short frame size of 192 bits in ITU-R channel model. We analyzed the performance of W-CDMA systems of 10MHz bandwidths employing RAKE receiver with not only MRC diversity but also turbo code.

  • In this paper, we analyze the performance of W-CDMA systems using turbo code in the wideband multipath channel. The strength of each multipath component is assumed to be Rayleigh distributed. Turbo codes of long block sizes have been known to show very good performance in a AWGN channel. Recently, turbo codes of short block sizes suitable for real time communication systems have attracted a lot of attention. Thus, in this paper we consider the turbo code of 1/3 code rate and short frame size of 192 bits in wideband mobile multipath channel. We analyze the performance of W-CDMA systems with 10MHz bandwidths in the case of employing RAKE receiver with not only MRC diversity but also turbo code.

  • In this paper, we investigate the performance comparisons of various turbo interleavers which are adopted as a standard such as IMT-2000 and satellite DVB(digital video broadcasting). The bit error rate performance is calculated by the fixed point computer simulations over Rayleigh fading channels. For a fair comparison, the simulation is performed on the basis of equal the interleaver size as we can. From the results, it is shown that the turbo interleaver in W-CDMA outperforms the turbo interleavers in CDMA2000 and satellite DVB. The performance gains are even larger as the interleaver size is increased.

  • The cyclic redundancy check(CRC) code used to decide retransmission request in hybrid automatic repeat request(HRAQ) system can also be used to stop iterative decoding of turbo code if it is used as an error correcting code(ECC) of HARQ system. Thus a scheme to use CRC code for both iteration stop and repeat request in the HARQ system with turbo code based on the standard of cdma 2000 system is proposed in this paper. At first, the optimum CRC code which has the minimum length without performance degradation due to undetected errors is found. And the most appropriate turbo encoder structure is also suggested. As results, it is shown that at least 32-bit CRC code should be used and a turbo code with 3 constituent encoders is considered to be the most appropriate one.

  • In this paper, performance of a turbo-coded OFDM system is analyzed and simulated in a power line communication channel. Since the power line communication system typically operates in a hostile environment, turbo code has been employed to enhance reliability of transmitted data. The performance is evaluated in terms of bit error probability. As turbo decoding algorithms, MAP (maximum a posteriori), Max-Log-MAP, and SOVA (soft decision Viterbi output) algorithms are chosen and their performances are compared. From simulation results, it is demonstrated that Max-Log-MAP algorithm is promising in terms of performance and complexity. It is shown that performance is substantially improved by increasing the number of iterations and interleaver length of a turbo encoder. The results in this paper can be applied to OFDM-based high-speed power line communication systems.
