As ubiquitous devices are fast spreading, the communication problem between humans and these devices is on the rise. The use of context is important in interactive application such as handhold and ubiquitous computing. Context is not crisp data, so it is necessary to introduce the fuzzy concept. The proxity relation is represented by the degree of closeness or similarity between data objects of a scalar domain. A context manager of context-awareness system evaluates imprecise queries with the proximity relations. in this paper, a systematic proximity elicitation method are proposed. The proposed generation method is simple and systematic. It is based on the well-known fuzzy set theory and applicable to the real world applications because it has tuning parameter and weighting factor. The proposed representations of proximity relation is more efficient than the ordinary matrix representation since it reflects some properties of a proximity relation to save space. We show an experiments of quantitative calculate for the proximity relation. And we analyze the time complexity and the space occupancy of the proposed representation method.
Range-based wireless localization system must measure accurate range between a mobile node (MN) and reference nodes. However, non-line-of-sight (NLOS) error caused by the spatial structures disturbs the localization system obtaining the accurate range measurements. Localization methods using the range measurements including NLOS error yield large localization error. But filter-based localization methods can provide comparatively accurate location solution. Motivated by the accuracy of the filter-based localization method, a filter residual-based NLOS error estimation method is presented in this paper. Range measurement-based residual contains NLOS error. By considering this factor with NLOS error properties, NLOS error is mitigated. Also a process noise covariance matrix tuning method is presented to reduce the time-delay estimation error caused by the single dynamic model-based filter when the speed or moving direction of a MN changes, that is the used dynamic model is not fit the current dynamic of a MN. The presented methods are evaluated by simulation allowing direct comparison between different localization methods. The simulation results show that the presented filter is more accurate than the iterative least squares- and extended Kalman filter-based localization methods.
A new approach, referred to as a successive zooming genetic algorithm (SZGA), is proposed for identifying a global solution, using continuous zooming factors for optimization problems. In order to improve the local fine-tuning of the GA, we introduced a new method whereby the search space is zoomed around the design variable with the best fitness per 100 generation, resulting in an improvement of the convergence. Furthermore, the reliability of the optimized solution is determined based on the theory of probability, and the parameter used for the successive zooming method is optimized. With parameter optimization, we can eliminate the time allocated for deciding parameters used in SZGA. To demonstrate the superiority of the proposed theory, we tested for the minimization of a multiple function, as well as simple functions. After testing, we applied the parameter optimization to a truss problem and wicket gate servomotor optimization. Then, the proposed algorithm identifies a more exact optimum value than the standard genetic algorithm.
This article presents a numerical tool for dimensioning two-threaded fasteners connecting prismatic parts subjected to fatigue tension loads that are coplanar with the screw axis. A simplified numerical model is developed from unidirectional finite elements, modeling the connected parts and screws with bent elements and the elastic contact layer between the parts with springs. An algorithm updating the contact stiffness matrix, calculating forces and displacements at each node of the structure and thus normal stresses in the screws in both static and fatigue is further developed using C language. An experimental study is also conducted in parallel with the numerical approach to validate the developed model assumptions, the numerical model and the 3D finite element results. Since stiffness values for the compressive zones in the parts are analytically difficult to determine, a statistical software method is used, from which a tuning factor is derived for identifying these stiffness values. The method is also applied to set out the influence of each parameter on the fatigue behaviour of each screw. Finally, the developed model will be used to establish a new, sophisticated, fast and accurate tool for dimensioning bolted mechanical structures.

The unscented Kalman filter (UKF), which is widely used to estimate the states of nonlinear dynamic systems, can be improved to realize robust system identification by using multiple sigma-point sets. When using Kalman filter methods for system identification, artificial noises must be appropriately selected to achieve optimal estimation performance. Additionally, an appropriate scaling factor for the sigma-points must be selected to capture the nonlinearity of the state-space model. This study entailed the use of Bouc-Wen hysteresis model to examine the nonlinear behavior of a single-degree-of-freedom oscillator. On the basis of the effects of the selected artificial noises and scaling factor, a new UKF method using multiple sigma-point sets was devised for improved robustness of the estimation over various signal-to-noise-ratio values. The results demonstrate that the proposed method can accurately track nonlinear system states even when the measurement noise levels are high, while being robust to the selection of artificial noise levels.

A new approach, referred to as a successive zooming genetic algorithm (SZGA), is Proposed for identifying a global solution for continuous optimization problems. In order to improve the local fine-tuning capability of GA, we introduced a new method whereby the search space is zoomed around the design point with the best fitness per 100 generation. To demonstrate the superiority of the proposed algorithm, a simple genetic algorithm, micro genetic algorithm, and the proposed algorithm were tested as regards for the minimization of a multiminima function as well as simple functions. The results confirmed that the proposed SZGA significantly improved the ability of the algorithm to identify a precise global minimum. As an example of structural optimization, the SZGA was applied to the optimal location of support points for weight minimization in the radial gate of a dam structure. The proposed algorithm identified a more exact optimum value than the standard genetic algorithms.

The new design methodology of a hybrid fuzzy controller by means of the genetic algorithms is presented. First, a hybrid fuzzy controller(HFC) related to the optimal estimation of control parameters is proposed. The control input for the system in the HFC combined PID controller with fuzzy controller is a convex combination of the FLC's output and PID's output by a fuzzy variable, namely, membership function of weighting coefficient. Second, an auto-tuning algorithms utilizing the simplified reasoning method and genetic algorithms is presented to automatically improve the performance of hybrid fuzzy controller. Especially, in order to auto-tune scaling factors and PID parameters of HFC using GA, three kinds of estimation modes such as basic, contraction, and expansion mode are effectively utilized. The proposed HFC is evaluated and discussed to show applicability and superiority with the and of three representative processes.

In this paper, we proposed a learning algorithm for the ADALINE network. The proposed algorithm exploits fuzzy system for automatic tuning of the weight parameters of the ADALINE network. The inputs of the fuzzy system are error and change of error, and the output is the weight variation. We used different scaling factor for each weights. In order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, we peformed the simulation and experimentation for the cases of the noise cancellation and the inverted pendulum control. The results show that the proposed algorithm does not need the learning rate and improves 4he performance compared to the Widrow-Hoff delta rule for ADALINE.

The optimal identification algorithm of fuzzy systems is presented for rule-based fuzzy modeling of
nonlinear complex systems. Nonlinear systems are expressed using the identification of structure such as input
variables and fuzzy input subspaces, and parameters of a fuzzy model. In this paper, the rule-based fuzzy
modeling implements system structure and parameter identification using the fuzzy inference methods and
hybrid structure combined with two types of optimization theories for nonlinear systems. Two types of
inference methods of a fuzzy model are the simplified inference and linear inference. The proposed hybrid
optimal identification algorithm is carried out using both a genetic algorithm and the improved complex
method. Here, a genetic algorithm is utilized for determining initial parameters of membership function of
premise fuzzy rules, and the improved complex method which is a powerful auto-tuning algorithm is carried
out to obtain fine parameters of membership function. Accordingly, in order to optimize fuzzy model, we use
the optimal algorithm with a hybrid type for the identification of premise parameters and standard least square
method for the identification of consequence parameters of a fuzzy model. Also, an aggregate performance
index with weighting factor is proposed to achieve a balance between performance results of fuzzy model
produced for the training and testing data. Two numerical examples are used to evaluate the performance of
the proposed model.
