This paper studies the effect of vibration characteristics of tube line conveying fluid with the power steering system of bus. We modelled fluid-filled tube line using I-DEAS software to investigate vibration characteristics of the power steering tube line. And we obtained the natural frequency of tube line through finite element analysis. Analytic solutions were compared with experimental solutions to verify finite element model. We tested the tube line to examine an effect of pressure pulse by vane pump and variation of geometry of tube. From both the experimental results and the modeling results for vibration characteristics of the tube line conveying fluid, we confirmed that vibration characteristics induced by pulse propagated along the power steering tube line and resonance occurred around the natural frequency with pulse excitation.
Fluid-elastic instability in an air-water two-phase cross-flow has been experimentally investigated using two different arrays of straight tube bundles: normal square (NS) array and rotated square (RS) array tube bundles with the same pitch-to-diameter ratio of 1.633. Experiments have been performed over wide ranges of mass flux and void fraction. The quantitative tube vibration displacement was measured using a pair of strain gages and the detailed orbit of the tube motion was analyzed from high-speed video recordings. The present study provides the flow pattern, detailed tube vibration response, damping ratio, hydrodynamic mass, and the fluid-elastic instability for each tube bundle. Tube vibration characteristics of the RS array tube bundle in the two-phase flow condition were quite different from those of the NS array tube bundle with respect to the vortex shedding induced vibration and the shape of the oval orbit of the tube motion at the fluid-elastic instability as well as the fluid-elastic instability constant.
Two-phase cross-flow exists in many shell-tube heat exchangers such as nuclear steam generators, condensers and reboilers. An understanding of damping and of flow-induced vibration excitation mechanisms in necessary to avoid problems due to excessive tube vibration. In this paper, we present the results of experiments on normal-triangular tube bundles of pitch to tube diameter ratio, p/d, 1.22, 1.32 and 1.47. The bundle were subjected to air-water mixtures to simulate realistic mass fluxes and vapour qualities corresponding to void fractions from 5 to 99%. Damping, fluidelastic instability and turbulence- induced excitation are discussed. The behaivior of damping and two vibration mechanisms are different for intermittent flows from for bubbly flows. The effect of pitch to tube diameter ratio and void fraction is dominant on damping and fluidelastic instability.

Using wind tunnel, experimental approaches were employed to investigate fluidelastic instability of tube bundles, subjected to uniform cross flow. There are several flow-induced vibration excitation mechanisms, such as fluidelastic instability, periodic wake shedding resonance, turbulence-induced excitation and acoustic resonance, which could cause excessive vibration in shell-and tube heat exchanges. Fluidelastic is the most important vibration excitation mechanism for heat exchanger tube bundles subjected to cross flow. The system comprised of cantilevered flexible cylinder(s) and rigid cylinders of normal square array, In order to see the characteristics of flow in tube bundles, particle image velocimetry was used. From a practical design point of view, Fluidelastic instability may be expressed simply in terms of dimensionless flow velocity and dimensionless mass-damping. The threshold flow velocity for dynamic instability of cylinder rows is evaluated and the data for design guideline is proposed for the tube bundles of normal square array.
A correct understanding of vibration-based degradation is crucial from the standpoint of maintenance for Steam Generators (SG) as crucial mechanical equipment in nuclear power plants. This study has established a novel approach to developing a model for investigating tube bundle degradation according to crack growth caused by two-phase Flow-Induced Vibration (FIV). An important step in the approach is to calculate the two-phase flow field parameters between the SG tube bundles in various zones using the porous media model to determine the velocity and vapor volume fraction. Afterward, to determine the vibration properties of the tube bundles, the Fluid-Solid Interaction (FSI) analysis is performed in eighteen thermal-hydraulic zones. Tube bundle degradation based on crack growth using the sixteen most probable initial cracks and within each SG thermal-hydraulic zone is performed to calculate useful lifetime. Large Eddy Simulation (LES) model, Paris law, and Wiener process model are considered to model the turbulent crossflow around the tube bundles, simulation of elliptical crack growth due to the vibration characteristics, and estimation of SG tube bundles degradation, respectively. The analysis shows that the tube deforms most noticeably in the zone with the highest velocity. As a result, cracks propagate more quickly in the tube with a higher height. In all simulations based on different initial crack sizes, it was observed that zone 16 experiences the greatest deformation and, subsequently, the fastest degradation, with a velocity and vapor volume fraction of 0.5 m/s and 0.4, respectively.

Two-phase cross-flow exists in many shell-tube heat exchangers such as steam generators, condensers and reboilers. An understanding of flow-induced vibration excitation mechanism is necessary to avoid problems due to excessive tube vibration. This paper presents the results of a series of experiments done on tube bundles of different geometries subjected to two-phase cross-flow simulated by air-water mixtures. Normal(30$^{\circ}$) and rotated (60$^{\circ}$)triangular, and normal(90$^{\circ}$) and rotated (45$^{\circ}$) square tube bundle configurations of pitch-to-diameter ratio of 1.2 to 1.5 were tested over a range of mass fluxes from 0 to 1,000kg/$m^2$ㆍ s and void fraction from 0 to 100%. The effects of tube bundle geometry on vibration excitation mechanism such as fluidelastic instability and random turbulence, and on dynamic parameters such as damping and hydrodynamic mass are discussed. A lower pitch-to-diameter results in a higher hydrodynamic mass. The effect of tube bundle configurations on damping and random turbulence excitation is minor. The effect of pitch-to-diameter on the fluidelastic instability, however, is significant.

In this study, we investigate the plugging effect on the CE type steam generator tube. The natural frequency and mode shape will be changed due to decrease of the effective mass distribution along the tube. We compared the variation of stability ratio for plugged tube with that fur unplugged one. The natural frequency increased because of removing the cooling water inside the steam generator tube, but the stability ratio decreased inversely because of changing the vibrational mode shape. We also investigated the turbulent excitation effect.

This paper has studied breakage possibility of glass insulators by resonance and accelerated deterioration through the comparison of the natural vibration and on site vibration. The natural frequencies of the strut tube glass insulator was measured within a range of less than 1kHz. In the on site vibration, the largest frequency that was imposed on strut tube glass insulators was 80Hz with 1.13g of vertical vibration in the viaduct section, the largest vertical vibration (0.38g) was detected at 103Hz in the open route section. When site vibration and natural vibration of strut tube glass insulators were compared in terms of characteristics, the resonance frequency was not the same. In both the viaduct and open route sections, it seems that the impact by vertical vibration in strut tube glass insulators is large. It's very unlikely that glass insulators were damaged by fatigue accumulation of vibration since the possibility of damage by resonance was very low in consideration of the characteristics of natural vibration and site vibration of glass insulators. In addition, no damage was detected in the accelerated deterioration test.
This paper describes the effect of dynamic characteristics in tube line by external vibration conveying fluid with the power steering system. By the experimental analysis we found out that the factor of system vibration is the fluid-structure interaction of tube line. In fluid-filled tube system we study on the influence that the natural frequency of system and the frequency of wave motion produce upon through experiment. Experiments are modal test, frequency response function in continuous system, and vibrating tests when the system is driving with bolted clamping joint condition. From the results of the experimental studies, we obtained that the natural frequencies of system are very important than the wave induced vibrations. And we found that the tendency of system vibration level was decreased by bolting force, bolting condition and clamping distance.
