The experiment of thermal performance about closed-wet cooling tower was conducted in this study. A closed cooling tower is a device similar to a general cooling tower, but with cooling tower replaced by a heat exchanger. The test section for this experiment has the process that the cooling water flows from the top of the heat exchanger to the bottom side in the inner part of the tube, and spray water flows in the gravitational direction in the outer side. Air comes in direct contact with the spray water at the outer side of the tube while passing from the lower the upper part having a counterflow to the spray water. The heat transfer pipe used in this experiment is a bare-type tube having an outer diameter of 15.88mm. The heat exchanger is consisted of seven rows and fifteen columns. In this experiment, thermal performance of the cooling tower is derived from overall heat transfer coefficients between the process fluid and sprayed water and volumetric overall mass transfer coefficient between sprayed water and air.

The convective heat transfer on the outer surface of tube arrays perpendicular to the flow direction was experimentally investigated. The test sections which include the aligned and staggered arrangements were made and the local heat transfer coefficients on the outer surface of the tube were measured after the flow has been fully developed. The results showed that the local heat transfer coefficients of the staggered arrangement, which has transverse pitch of 0.075 m and longitudinal pitch of 0.08 m, were about 15% greater than that of the aligned arrangement. Also, the overall mean Nusselt number of the former was greater than that of the latter. It is verified that the results obtained by using the simulation show the same tendency with those of experiment.

Numerical analysis is performed for the unsteady axisymmetric two dimensional phase change problem of freezing of water around a vertical tube. Heat conduction in the tube wall and solid phase, natural convection in liquid phase and volume expansion caused by density difference between solid and liquid phases are included in the numerical analysis. Existing correlation is used for estimating density-temperature relation of water, and the effect of volume expansion is reflected as fluid velocity at the interface and the free surface. As pure water has maximum density at 4.deg. C, it is found that there exists an initial temperature at which the flow direction reverses near the interface and by this effect the slope of interface becomes reversed depending on the initial temperature of water. By considering natural convection and solid-liquid density difference in the calculation, their effects on phase change process are studied and the effects of various parameters are also studied quantitatively.

There has been extensive experience associated with the operation of SGs wherein it was believed, based on NDE, that throughwall tube indications were present within the tubesheet. The installation of the SG tubes usually involves the development of a short interference fit, referred to as the tack expansion, at the bottom of the tubesheet. The tack expansion was usually effected by a hard rolling process and thereafter, in most instance, by the expansion of a urethane plug inserted into the tube end and compressed in the axial direction. The rolling process by its very nature is considered to be intensive with regard to metalworking at the inside surface of the tube and would be expected to lead to higher residual surface stresses. Alternate repair criteria(ARC) in the tack expansion area have been developed and applied to nuclear power plants in USA, however domestic nuclear power plants have not applied ARC for tubes in tubeheet area yet. In consideration of the degradation characteristics of tubes in the Steam Generator tubesheet, this paper suggests ARC application for tubes in the steam generator tubesheet of the domestic nuclear power plants in order to assure life time of the steam generator as well as nuclear power plants.
This paper studies thermal buckling and post-buckling behaviors of functionally graded materials (FGM) tubes subjected to a uniform temperature rise and resting on elastic foundations via a refined beam model. Compared to the Timoshenko beam theory, the number of unknowns of this model are the same and no correction factors are required. The material properties of the FGM tube vary continuously in the radial direction according to a power function. Two ends of the tube are assumed to be simply supported and in-plane boundary conditions are immovable. Energy variation principle is employed to establish the governing equations. A two-step perturbation method is adopted to determine the critical thermal buckling loads and post-buckling paths of the tubes with arbitrary radial non-homogeneity. Through detailed parametric studies, it can be found that the tube has much higher buckling temperature and post-buckling strength when it is supported by an elastic foundation.
The periodicity of the physiological flow has been the major interest of analytic research in this field up to now Among the mechanical forces stimulating the biochemical reaction of endothelial cells on the wall, the wall shear stresses show the strongest effect to the biochemical product. The objective of present study is to find the effects of velocity waveform on the wall shear stresses and pressure distribution along the artery and to present some correlation of the velocity waveform with the clinical observations. In order to investigate the complex flow phenomena in the bifurcated tube, constitutive equations, which are suitable to describe the rheological properties of the non-Newtonian fluids, are determined, and pulsatile momemtum equations are solved by the finite volume prediction. The results show that pressure and wall shear stresses are related to the velocity waveform of the physiological flow and the blood viscosity. And the variational tendency of the wall shear stresses along the flow direction is very similar to the applied sinusoidal and physiological velocity waveforms, but the stress values are quite different depending on the local region. Under the sinusoidal velocity waveform, a Newtonian fluid and blood show big differences in velocity. pressure, and wall shear stress as a function of time, but the differences under the physiological velocity waveform are negligibly small.

In this study, the one-piece propeller shaft composed of carbon/epoxy was designed and manufactured for 4 wheel drive automobiles that can bear the target torsional torque performance of 3.5kN.m. For the CFRP tube, braiding machine was used to weaving carbon fiber and it was formed the braided yarns with the braid angle ${\pm}45^{\circ}$ and axial yarns to improve strength of the lengthwise direction. The final CFRP tube of propeller shaft was evaluated through the torsional torque test. The CFRP propeller shaft satisfied requirement of the target torsional maximum torque of 3.5kN.m. Also, it was found that the one-piece composite propeller shaft with CFRP tube had 30% weight saving effect compared with a two-piece steel propeller shaft.
In this paper, a high efficiency leakage transformer for neon tube is developed to improve its power factor, to reduce its core loss and weight by using a technique of shape optimization and direction of grain-oriented silicon steel sheet. A protection circuit is designed for all types of neon transformer loaded with one or more neon lamps. Whenever the neon tube fails to be started up or comes to the life end, or encounters faults with open-circuits at the output terminals of the neon transformer, the protection circuit will be initiated to avoid more critical hazards. These neon transformers need a protection circuit to prevent from current stresses on circuit components by neon tube fail. The input of the transformer is automatically cut off when the abnormal condition occurs, preventing waste of no-load power. As the results of the study, the core weight is reduced by $11\%$, the power factor improved by $5\%$ and the efficiency increased by $6\%$ compared with the conventional type due to the employment of the grain-oriented steel sl)eel and the optimized core shape.

High-temperature Superconductor(HTS) tubes were fabricated in terms of different chemical compositions and various SrSO$_4$additions by centrifugal forming method. For powder melting by induction the optimum range of melting temperatures and preheating temperature were 1050$^{\circ}C$, 1100$^{\circ}C$ and 550$^{\circ}C$ for 30 min, respectively. The mould rotating speed was 1000 rpm. A tube was annealed at 840$^{\circ}C$ for 72 hours in oxygen atmosphere. The plates like grains more than 20 $\mu\textrm{m}$ were well developed along the rotating direction of mould regardless of initial chemical compositions and the amounts of SrSO$_4$in Bi2212. The specimen with Bi2212 composition exhibited T$\_$c/ of 83 K, while the specimens fabricated with other compositions are lower than 60 K. The measured I$\_$c/ and J$\_$c/ at 77 K(B = 0 T) in Bi2212 with 7 % SrSO$_4$ composition were about 680 A and 380 A/$\textrm{cm}^2$.
