Concrete-filled steel tubular (CFST) members have been widely used in engineering, and their tube diameters have become larger and larger. But there is no research on the thermal field of large-diameter CFST structure. These studies focused on the thermal field of the large-diameter CFST structure under solar radiation. The environmental factors and the actual placement position were considered, and the finite element model (FEM) of the thermal field of CFST members under solar radiation (SR) was established. Then the FEM was verified by practical experiments. The most unfavorable temperature gradient model in the cross-section was proposed. The testing results showed that the temperature field of the large-diameter CFST member section was non-linearly distributed due to the influence of SR. The temperature field results of CFST members with different pipe diameters indicated that the larger the core concrete diameter was, the slower the central temperature changed, and there was a significant temperature difference between the center and the boundary. Based on the numerical model, the most unfavorable temperature gradient model in the section was proposed. The model showed that the temperature difference around the center of the circle is small, and the boundary temperature difference is significant. The maximum temperature difference is 15.22℃, which appeared in the southern boundary area of the specimen. Therefore, it is necessary to consider the influence of SR on the thermal field of the member for large-diameter CFST members in actual engineering, which causes a large temperature gradient in the member.
A kind of accordion-web RBS connection, "Tubular Web RBS (TW-RBS)" connection is proposed in this research. TW-RBS is made by replacing a part of web with a tube at the desirable location of the beam plastic hinge. This paper presents first a numerical study under cyclic load using ABAQUS finite element software. A test specimen is used for calibration and comparison of numerical results. Obtained results indicated that TW-RBS would reduce contribution of the beam web to the whole moment strength and creates a ductile fuse far from components of the beam-to-column connection. Besides, TW-RBS connection can increase story drift capacity up to 9% in the case of shallow beams which is much more than those stipulated by the current seismic codes. Furthermore, the tubular web like corrugated sheet can improve both the out-of-plane stiffness of the beam longitudinal axis and the flange stability condition due to the smaller width to thickness ratio of the beam flange in the plastic hinge region. Thus, the tubular web in the plastic hinge region improves lateral-torsional buckling stability of the beam as just local buckling of the beam flange at the center of the reduced section was observed during the tests. Also change of direction of strain in arc shape of the tubular web section is smaller than the accordion webs with sharp corners therefore the tubular web provides a better condition in terms of low-cycle fatigue than other accordion web with sharp corners.
Improvement of sound absorption capability of wood and wood-based board by resonant absorption was attempted. Sound absorption coefficients of wood and wood-based board which contain normal, simple perforation and stair type perforation had been estimated by the tube method using standing wave ratio. Sound absorption coefficients of wood specimens of simply perforated and perforated with stair were higher than that of normal specimens. Especially, in case of stair type perforation, it was about 50 to 60% higher than that of normal specimen in the frequency of 3 to 4KHz. It was considered that the cavity which had been formed by perforation with stair type behaved as a single resonator. Wood-based board showed good sound absorption coefficients in the frequency from 125Hz to 2KHz and that of perforated board showed a little higher in the frequency from 300Hz to 500Hz than that of normal board. The computed data of resonant frequencies at several sizes of cavity showed good accordance with the estimated data of those.
Purpose: The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of hydrofluoric acid concentration & etching time on the shear bond strength between IPS Empress 2 ceramic and resin cement. Material and methods: Thirty three rectangular shape ceramic specimens($20{\times}12{\times}5mm$ size, IPS Empress 2 core materials) were used for this study. The ceramic specimens divided into ten experimental groups with three specimens in each group and were etched with hydrofluoric acid(4%, 9%) according to different etching times(30s, 60s, 90s, 120s, 180s). Etched surfaces of ceramic specimens were bonded with resin cement(Rely X Unicorn) using acrylic glass tube. All cemented specimens were tested under shear loading until fracture on universal testing machine at a crosshead speed of 0.5mm/min and the maximum load at fracture(kg) was recorded. Collected shear bond strength data were analyzed with one way ANOVA and Duncan tests. All etched ceramic surfaces were examined morphologically using SEM(scanning electron microscopy). Results: Shear bond strength of etching group$(35.89{\sim}68.01MPa)$ had four to seven times greater than no-etching group$(9.53{\pm}2.29MPa)$. The ceramic specimen etched with 4% hydrofluoric acid for 60s showed the maximum shear bond strength$(68.01{\pm}11.78MPa)$. Ceramic surface etched with 4% hydrofluoric acid for 60s showed most retentive surface texture. Conclusion: It is considered that 60s etching with 4% hydrofluoric acid is optimal etching methods for IPS Empress 2 ceramic bonding.

The method of nonlinear parameter estimation(NPE), which is a statistical and an inverse method, is used to estimate the thermal diffusivity of the porous insulation material. In order to apply the NPE method for measuring the thermal diffusivity, and algorithm for programing suitable to IBM personal computer is established, and is studied the statistical treatment of experimental data and theory of estimation. The experimental data obtained by discrete measurement using a constant heat flux technique are used to find the boundary conditions, initial conditions, and the thermal diffusivity, and then the final values are compared with the values obtained by some different methods. The results are presented as follows:(1) NPE method is used to establish the estimation of the thermal diffusivity and compared results with experimental output shows, that this method can be applicable to define the thermal diffusivity without considering hear flux types. (2) Because of all of the temperatures obtained by the discrete measurement on each steps of time are used to estimate the thermal diffusivity. Although some error in the temperature measurements of temperature are included in estimating process, its influences on the final value are minimzed in NPE method. (3) NPE method can reduce the experimental time including the time of data collecting in a few minutes and can take smaller specimen compared with steady state method. If the tube-type furnace is used, also the adjusting time of surrounding temperature can be reduced.
Al-42wt%Nb powder was prepared by high-energy mechanical milling(HEMM). The particle size, phase transformation and microstructure of the as-milled powder were investigated by particle size distribution (PSD) analyzer, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffractometery (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM)and differential thermal analysis (DTA). The milled powders were heated to a sintering temperature at 1000C with under vaccum with vaccum tube furnace. Microstructural examination of sintered Ti-42wt%Nb alloy using 4h-milled powder showed Ti-rich phases (${\alpha}$-Ti) which are fine and homogeneously distributed in the matrix (Nb-rich phase: ${\beta}$-Ti). The sintered Ti-42wt%Nb alloy with milled powder showed higher hardness. The microstructure of the as quenched specimens fabricated by sintering using mixed and milled powder almost are same, but the hardness of as quenched specimen fabricated by using mixed powder increased due to solution hardening of Nb in Ti matrix. The aging effect of these specimens on microstructural change and hardening is not prominent.
The purpose of this study was to measure Micro vicker's hardness of 4 kinds of anterior Composite resins (Pyrofil light bond anterior, Lite-fil anterior, Photo clear fil anterior, Silux) and 6 kinds of posterior Composite resin (Pyrofil light bond posterior. Lite-fil posterior, Photo clear fil posterior, Occlusin posterior, Palfique light posterior, P-30, posterior) according to deference of depth and distance of light tip from surface of composite resin. Each composite resin was filled into Teflon tube of 5mm in diameter and 5mm in depth, celluloid matrix was covered and the light in accordance with each composite resin was irradiated in distance of zero millimeter and 1 cm from light tip to surface of composite resin for 30 seconds. Specimens were sectioned longitudinally with cutting device. Microvicker's hardness measurements ware made at the depth of surface, 1mm, 2mm, 3mm, 4mm and 5mm from the surface to deep portion. Vicker's hardness numbers were taken on each depth under 200gm load for 30 seconds with MVK-E. The following results were: 1. The highest hardness value was measured at 1 mm depth. Then the deeper the depth, the lesser the hardness was observed. 2. The hardness value of anterior composite resins is lower than one of posterior composite resins. 3. Hardness number of composite resin irradiated in distance of zero millimeter from surface of composite resin was higher than one of 1 cm from surface of composite resin. 4. The pattern of hardness change at varying depth was similar to all the experimental material with no relation to distance of light from specimen.

For the development of a new creep test technique, the availability of SP-Creep test is discussed for 1Cr-0.5Mo boiler header material. And some results are also compared with those of 2.25Cr- 1Mo steel which widely uses as boiler superheater tube. The results can be summarized as follows. The load exponents(n) obtained by SP-Creep test for 1Cr-0.5Mo steel are decreased with increasing creep temperature and the values are 15.67, 13.89, and 17.13 at 550$^{circ}C$ ,575$^{circ}C$ and 600$^{circ}C$, respectively. The temperature dependence of the load exponent is given by n = 107.19 - 0.1108T. This reason that load exponents show the extensive range of 10∼16 is attributed to the fine carbide such as M$_{23}$C$_{6}$ in lath tempered martensitic structures. At the same creep condition, the secondary creep rate of 1Cr-0.5Mo steel is lower than the 2.25Cr-1Mo steel1 due to the strengthening microstructure composed by normalizing and tempering treatments. Through a SEM observation, it can be summarized that the primary, secondary, and tertiary creep regions of SP-Creep specimen are corresponding to plastic bending, plastic membrane stretching, and plastic instability regions among the deformation behavior of four steps in SP test, respectively.y.
PURPOSE. This study aims to compare the marginal fitness of two types of implant-supported fixed dental prosthesis, i.e., cementless fixation (CL.F) system and cement-retained type. MATERIALS AND METHODS. In each group, ten specimens were assessed. Each specimen comprised implant lab analog, titanium abutment fabricated with a 2-degree tapered axial wall, and zirconia crown. The crown of the CL.F system was retained by frictional force between abutment and relined composite resin. In the cement-retained type, zinc oxide eugenol cement was used to set crown and abutment. All specimens were sterilized with ethylene oxide, immersed in Prevotella intermedia culture in a 50 mL tube, and incubated with rotation. After 48 h, the specimens were washed thoroughly before separating the crown and abutment. The bacteria that penetrated into the crown-abutment interface were collected by washing with 500 µL of sterile saline. The bacterial cell number was quantified using the agar plate count technique. The BacTiter-Glo Microbial Cell Viability Assay Kit was used to measure bacterial adenosine triphosphate (ATP)-bioluminescence, which reflects the bacterial viability. The t-test was performed, and the significance level was set at 5%. RESULTS. The number of penetrating bacterial cells assessed by colony-forming units was approximately 33% lower in the CL.F system than in the cement-retained type (P<.05). ATP-bioluminescence was approximately 41% lower in the CL.F system than in the cement-retained type (P<.05). CONCLUSION. The CL.F system is more resistant to bacterial penetration into the abutment-crown interface than the cement-retained type, thereby indicating a precise marginal fit.
The purpose of this study was to observe shear bond strength of composite resin to dentin following surface treatment. Freshly extracted forty-eight sound human molars were used in this study. They were stored at $4^{\circ}C$ physiologic saline solution before experiment. The teeth was then mounted with self curing acrylic resin in brass mold. The buccal surfaces of the teeth were grinding approximately 1.5mm by means of water-irrigated grinding wheel to expose the flattened fresh dentin surfaces. The specimens were divided into 6 groups according to preparation and treatment procedures on dentin surfaces; Group 1: Untreated after preparation with No.301 diamond point Group 2: Treated with primer for 60 seconds after preparation with No.301 diamond point Group 3: Untreated after preparation with No.700 fissure carbide bur Group 4: Treated with primer for 60 seconds after preparation with No.700 fissure carbide bur Group 5: Untreated after grinding with 600 grit silicon carbide paper Group 6: Treated with primer for 60 seconds after grinding with 600 grit silicon carbide paper Light cure dental adhesive was applicated to each specimen. Silux plus(3M) was inserted then into polyethylene tube of 3mm diameter and 3mm height, and polymerized to dentin surface. All of the specimens were stored in distilled water at $35.6^{\circ}C$ for 24 hours prior to testing. The shear bond strength was measured using an Instron Universal Testing Machine. The results obtained from this study were as follows: 1. The shear bond strength to dentin was the highest in group II. 2. The shear bond strength to dentin was the lowest in group III. 3. There was no significant difference in shear bond strength to dentin according to preparation instrument. 4. The primer treatment group showed significantly greater shear bond strength than untreated group.
