On the Arc Welding Temperature in a Metal Tube (용접관(熔接管)의 용접중(熔接中) 온도분포(溫度分布))

  • In a recent year, welding is known as a most powerful process in production of pipe. For the conventional purpose, pipe is welded in axial direction to minimize the welding cost. And for the high pressure pipe, welding is done in helical direction to increase a allowable hoop stress. An analytical welding temperature distributions in a metal tube are obtained as a two dimensional case in quasi-stationary state. Numerical values which have been obtained by the analytical investigation shows a good agreement with the isocromatic lines which have been appeared at oxidized zone along the welds. Therefore it is thought that the analytical result can be used in estimating the heat effect upon the material such as a residual stress and strain, metallurgical change and etc..

  • In order to increase power plant efficiency, the steam temperature was increased to 610 ℃ which deteriorates the durability of the boiler tube and as the use of low-calorie coal increases the post combustion and delayed combustion phenomenon, the overheating of the final reheater and the tube rupture are becoming frequent. In order to prevent overheating of the final reheater, desuperheater water injection was increased, leading to a decrease in boiler efficiency. In this study install a baffle plate at the back of some overheated tube groups, thereby reduce the temperature of the tube by reducing the amount of combustion gas, and the reduced combustion gas moves to an adjacent place to increase the temperature of other tubes. As a result of the study, the temperature deviation between tubes decreased 1.5. And the heat-reducing injection amount was reduced to 6,929 kg/h and the maximum tube temperature was reduced to 623.4℃ which is 6.6℃ more below than the control standard of 630℃.

  • In the case that erosion and corrosion occurs in machinery and structure at the same time, the synergy effect by erosion-corrosion affects fatal effect to durability of machinery and structure. Therefore, in machinery and structure which use corrosion liquid, the study of the synergy effect of erosion-corrosion which affects metal material is requested. In this paper. the flow corrosion experiment about the effect of temperature change and liquid velocity change in sea water was carried out to study the characteristics of erosion-corrosion for tube material Cu heat exchanger The main results obtained are as follows. (1) Damage appearance of tube outside by erosion-corrosion becomes dull because electrode potentials of Cu tube is higher than electrode potential of STPG38 shell. (2) In the cooling system by sea water, the weight loss rate of Cu at tube outside liquid temperature of $70^{\circ}C$ is higher than that of temperature of $20^{\circ}C$. (3) In cooling system by sea water, the weight loss rate of Cu at liquid velocity of 5.1m/s is higher than that of velocity of 1.47m/s. But as the testing time passed, the weight loss rate of Cu at velocity of 5.1m/s is almost steady and becomes dull at velocity of 1.47m/s.

  • Porthole die extrusion is profitable to manufacture long tube with hollow section. The material through portholes is gathered within chamber and welded under high pressure. This weldability which classifies the quality of tube product is affected by several variables and die shape. But, porthole die extrusion has been executed on the experience of experts due to the complicated die assembly and complexity of metal flow. Analytic approaches that are useful in profitable die design and in the improvement of productivity are inevitably demanded. Therefore, the objective of this study is respectively to analyze the behavior of metal flow and to determine welding pressure of hot extrusion product according to the various billet temperature, bearing length and tube thickness by FE analysis and its results are compared with tube expanding tests.

  • The basic remote sleeve repair-welding technology by the pulsed Nd:YAG laser for increasing the lifetime of the steam generator tube in a nuclear power plant has been developed. The relationship between the connection width and welding parameters have been investigated for the fundamental research to apply the sleeve-repair-welding technique to the nuclear industry. The Inconel 600 tube and Inconel 690 sleeve used for high temperature and high pressure service were welded as round lap welding by Nd:YAG laser. It was observed that the tensile shear strength, 340MPa of the welded specimen is equivalent to about 60% of that of the base metal (Inconel 600), 550MPa. The difference between the hardness of the base metal and that of the laser welds was about 10%. Ductile fracture was partly occurred in the weld but the cracking has not been observed. In spite of absence of the crack, the strength of welds was not sufficient in terms of the tensile shear strength.

  • In case of hollow cylinder extrusion using porthole die, the effects of extrusion parameters-temperature, the speed of extrusion, the shape of the die and mandrel-on metal flow in porthole die extrusion of aluminum have been investigated. However, there have been few studies about condenser tube extruded by porthole die. This study was designed to evaluate metal flow, welding pressure, extrusion load, tendency of mandrel deflection according to variation of chamber length. in porthole die. Estimation was carried out using finite element method. Porthole die is analyzed in as non-steady state. Analytical results provide useful information the optimal design of porthole die.

  • This paper describes the design of a small size Alkali Metal Thermal to Electric Converter (AMTEC) which employs a capillary structure for recirculating sodium working fluid. The cycle is based on the simple and small capillary type ${\beta}"$ -alumina and wick tube element. The proposed cell consists of the 37 conversion elements with capillary tube of $50{\mu}m$ in diameter and the sealed cylindrical vessel of 22mm in outer diameter. Results on the cycle analysis of sodium flow and heat transfer in the cell showed that the expected power output was 4.65W and the conversion efficiency was 19% for the source temperature of 900K.

  • An experimental study was carried out to investigate the condensation performance for the horizontal cylindrical heat transfer tube with various fin attached using R-11 vapor. The heat transfer tube used in this study was supplied by SUNG HYUNG METAL CO., LTD. Four different types of heat transfer tubes (plain tube, SH-CYR tube, thermocor tube and thermoexcel tube) were used. Each tube was surrounded by circular acrylate tube, and R-11 gas heated by boiler flows into the acrylate tube. Cooling water counter-flows in heat transfer tubes. Heat transfer coefficient of the plain tube from measured data was compared with those of three other tubes. The results are summarized as follows: 1. As the cooling water temperature decreased, the liquid film of R-11 turned to droplet drop on the top surface of the horizontal tube. 2. Heat transfer coefficient calculated theoretically was higher than that obtained from the experimental data. 3. As far as the condensation concerns the thermocor tube is the highest, the SH-CYR tube is the second, and the thermoexcel tube is the third excluding the plain tube.

  • ceramic metal halide lamps are a subset of high intensity discharge lamps so named because of their high radiance These lamps weak ionized plasma in a fire-resisting but light transmissive wrapping by the corridor of current through atomic and molecular vapors. for commercial applications, For commercial applications, the conversion of electric power to light must occur with good efficiency and with sufficient spectral content throughout the visible (380-800 nm) to permit the light so generated to render colors comparable to natural sunlight. the purpose of this paper is to carry out a study on the variation of ageing time(2000 On/Off[hr]) on the performance of 150W CMH lamps. Experimental results show that the blackening by reacting W(tungsten)with I atomic has been created in the arc tube of an ageing lamp(2000 On/Off[hr]), the arc was unstable, and increased a lamp resistance made lamp voltage increases significantly. Also, Color temperature of the ageing lamp was moved by the losses of Ho with Dy atomics and by recombination of Na with I.

  • Corrosion and tensile properties of zircaloy-4 cladding tube having a laser welding part in elevated temperature are studied to present the criterion of quality evaluation in nuclear reactor and to found the scientific basis of SCC, with laser welding method using by coupling up cladding tube to end cap. In the result of tensile test($400^{\circ}C$), the fracture is not happened in the welding part but base metal and the result of corrosion test($400^{\circ}C$ 1500psi steam), corrosion rate of the molten zone and PMZ is a little higher than the other zone.
