A Proposal for the Proper Application of Dynamic Pile Loading Tests (동재하시험의 올바른 적용)

  • Locally PDA has been utilized mainly as an alternative way of preforming pile loading tests. More than 30 units of PDA's are believed to be operating in Korea. It is true that PDA can provide useful information regarding bearing capacity, integrity, hammer performance, time effect, etc. However it is also true that inappropriate execution of PDA could result in harmful effects for the safety of the superstructure or causing delay in the construction process. In this paper several cases of inappropriate application of PDA are introduced. Most of the problems seemed to be caused by unqualified personnel who carry out testing and analysis. From the evaluation of the cases a proposal has been made for the proper application of PDA.

  • Nowadays , The function of telecommunication contributes to maintaining the peace of the world, and the internetional cooperation in the communication field can not be emphasized too much. The pioneers in telecommunication field devoted their lives to the Infinite love for humanity. However, the modern communication system in our country was initiated, in the later part of the Lee-Dynasty, not for the international cooperation but for the invasive avarices of the neighbouring nations such as Japan and China. The true internationaL cooprration should be based on the love of humanity and the peace of the world such as the pionreers. This paper proposes to resoarch the historic process of initiation and development of the international organs relating to telecommunication as well as the intenational elecomunication network. Finally, I will make the foIlowing suggestions for the promotive direction of the true international coonperation, 1. Intensification of the radio administrative power 2. Promotion of the international cooperation on the man-power and economy in telecommunication field. 3. Establishment and Adjustment of the research institutes Of telecommunication. 4. Establishment of the world telecommunication network for world-wide peace

  • 이 논문에서는 트루타입 폰트(TrueTypeFont: TTF)로부터 한자의 외곽선 정보를 얻어 자동으로 획을 분리해 내는 방법을 제안한다. 트루타입 폰트는 각 글자에 대한 외곽선 정보를 벡터 형식으로 저장하고 있다. 저장된 벡터의 방향과 위치 정보를 사용하여 한자의 획을 하나씩 분리해 낸 후, 그것을 조합하면 효율적으로 한자 학습 컨텐츠를 완성 할 수 있다. 제안한 방법으로 완성된 컨텐츠는 트루타입 폰트가 갖고 있는 벡터 이미지로서의 특성을 그대로 취할 수 있다는 장점이 있다. 제안한 방법으로 획을 분리하고 분리된 획을 순서대로 조합하여 보다 양질의 학습 컨텐츠를 제작할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

Financial Data Assessment Using Table-Graph-Mixed Reality Visualization

  • Usability and knowledge drawn from utilizing various ways of representing accounting data were examined. Classroom experiments were conducted to compare students' assessment of financial data using table of numbers, 2-dimensional column graphs (2D), 3-dimensional column graphs (3D), and mixed reality visualization of true 3-dimensional graphs (MR). The results showed that in assessing the financial status and performance of a firm, Table of numbers and MR took longer than 2D and 3D graphs. The time spent on true 3D graphs using MR technology was about the same as Table of numbers. When compared the assessment scores of the firm's financial status and performance between participants and experts, the difference was the least when participants used 2D graphs. However, MR was seen as being a new way to provide data of greater complexity and was very useful for financial information.

  • A series of soil bin experiments was carried out on land to evaluate the soil physical properties whether they are pertinent to soil-wheel system and to investigate if true model theory u applicable to powered rigid wheel-soil system. Four different sized wheels having diameter of 45, 60, 75 and 90 em were wed for the experiment. The following conclusion was derived from the study. (1) True model theory can be sufficiently utilized to study the wheel traction and linkage on lands. (2) For both dry and wet sands, Cone Index(CI) and soil shear parameters (c, ${\phi}$) with bulk density (${\gamma}$) were found to be good measures of soil physical properties which are pertinent to predict the performance of the powered rigid wheel-soil system.

Revisiting the Bradley-Terry model and its application to information retrieval

  • The Bradley-Terry model is widely used for analysis of pairwise preference data. We explain that the popularity of Bradley-Terry model is gained due to not only easy computation but also some nice asymptotic properties when the model is misspecified. For information retrieval required to analyze big ranking data, we propose to use a pseudo likelihood based on the Bradley-Terry model even when the true model is different from the Bradley-Terry model. We justify using the Bradley-Terry model by proving that the estimated ranking based on the proposed pseudo likelihood is consistent when the true model belongs to the class of Thurstone models, which is much bigger than the Bradley-Terry model.

  • 이 논문에서는 트루타입 폰트의 글자 외곽선 데이터를 이용하여 자동으로 한자의 획을 분리하고 획 순서를 정하는 방법을 제안한다. 트루타입 폰트에는 글자의 외곽선 정보가 벡터 형식으로 저장되어 있으며, 이러한 벡터들은 일정한 규칙으로 배열되어 있다. 이와 같은 벡터들의 배치를 이용하여 한자의 획이 될 수 있는 벡터들의 집합을 조합하여 독립적인 획을 분리해 내고, 글자를 획 별로 분리하여 본래 트루타입 폰트의 저장 형식과 동일한 파일 형식으로 저장한다. 또한 분리된 모든 획에 대하여, 획 이름을 정의하고, 정의된 획들 간의 위치와 상관관계를 이용하여, 획 사이의 우선순위를 결정하여 획 순서를 부여한다. 이 작업들은 사람의 작업 없이 순수하게 자동으로 이루어지므로, 시간과 노력을 최소화 할 수 있다. 게다가, 획 별로 분리되고 순서대로 정리된 한자들은 트루타입 폰트에 저장되어 있는 모양과 특성을 그대로 가지고 있으므로, 단순히 폰트 자체로써 사용할 수도 있을 뿐만 아니라, 한자 학습 컨텐츠로도 이용이 가능하며, 각종 애니메이션 효과 등 다양한 분야에서 융통성 있게 활용될 수 있다.

Variational Expectation-Maximization Algorithm in Posterior Distribution of a Latent Dirichlet Allocation Model for Research Topic Analysis

  • In this paper, we propose a variational expectation-maximization algorithm that computes posterior probabilities from Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) model. The algorithm approximates the intractable posterior distribution of a document term matrix generated from a corpus made up by 50 papers. It approximates the posterior by searching the local optima using lower bound of the true posterior distribution. Moreover, it maximizes the lower bound of the log-likelihood of the true posterior by minimizing the relative entropy of the prior and the posterior distribution known as KL-Divergence. The experimental results indicate that documents clustered to image classification and segmentation are correlated at 0.79 while those clustered to object detection and image segmentation are highly correlated at 0.96. The proposed variational inference algorithm performs efficiently and faster than Gibbs sampling at a computational time of 0.029s.
