In this paper, we present a fast face detection algorithm by estimating the eye region using neural network. To implement a real time face detection system, it is necessary to reduce search space. We limit the search space just to a few pairs of eye candidates. For the selection of them, we first isolate possible eye regions in the fast and robust way by modified histogram equalization. The eye candidates are paired to form an eye pair and each of the eye pair is estimated how close it is to a true eye pair in two aspects : One is how similar the two eye candidates are in shape and the other is how close each of them is to a true eye image A multi-layer perceptron neural network is used to find the eye candidate region's closeness to the true eye image. Just a few best candidates are then verified by eigenfaces. The experimental results show that this approach is fast and reliable. We achieved 94% detection rate with average 0.1 sec Processing time in Pentium III PC in the experiment on 424 gray scale images from MIT, Yale, and Yonsei databases.

Myxoma is an uncertain mesenchymal cell origin, characterized by irregular round, stellate or spindle cells surrounded by the matrix containing abundant mucoid material and scant vascularity. Their occurrence in descending order of frequency is in the heart, subcutaneous tissue, bone and genitourinary tract. In the head and neck region, the most predilection sites are mandible and maxilla(more than 80%). Laryngeal myxoma is extremely rare：only 5 cases have been reported in the English literature. We report a rare case of laryngeal myxoma. A 60-year-old man with hoarseness visited the out-patient department. The mass was located between the vocal fold and the vocal ligament, filling with the left laryngeal ventricle. We planned the laryngo-microsurgery and successfully excised using $CO_2$ laser. The histopathologic finding revealed the myxoma. After 18 months of surgery, there is no evidence of recurrence and mucosal scarring in the vocal fold. This report is the first case of laryngeal myxoma involving the laryngeal ventricle and the true vocal cord together.

Effects of caffeine, heparin and caffeine-heparin treatments for in vitro capacitation of Korean Native Cattle sperm on acrosorne reaction and viability were studied using the methods of Wells-Awa and Dual stain. The results were summerized as follows: 1. The acrosome reaction of sperm when treated with caffeine after 0 to 4 hrs of preincubation were 11.0~75.7% for Wells-Awa stain, and 14.3~75.55% for Dual stain. True acrosome reaction of sperm for Dual stain was 3.0~29.2%. The viability of sperm was 62. 2~27.2%. 2. The acrosome reaction of sperm when treated with heparin after 0 to 4 hrs of preincubation were 17.0~81.2% for Wells-Awa, and 14.3~75.5% for Dual Stain. True acrosome reaction of sperm for Dual stain was 1.5~26.6%. The viability of sperm was 58.6~35. 8%. 3. The acrosome reaction of sperm when treated with caffeine-heparin after 0 to 4 hrs of preincubation were 13.0~83.2% for Wells Awa, and 11.0~78.5% for Dual stain. True acrosome reaction of for Dual stain was 5.1~26.3%. The viability of sperm was 60.5~30.1%.

Background and Objectives : There are so many methods to investigate the causes of voice disorders. However, they were almost invasive or non-physiologic methods. And none of them showed the laryngeal movements. Phonation pharyngogram is non-invasive method to see the laryngeal movement directly. Authors studied to evaluate the availability of phonation pharyngogram in laryngeal nodule. Materials and Methods : 30 laryngeal nodules and 10 control groups were evaluated. Acoustic analysis and maximum phonation time were measured and pharyngogram was taken during sustaining /a/ phonation immediately after swallowing the barium. We measured the width of hypopharyngeal wall, shape of hypopharyngeal wall and pyriform sinus apex, level difference between both true vocal folds, angle of subglottis, location of true vocal folds, elevated distance of vocal folds and shape of c-spine. Results : Jitter, Shimmer of laryngeal nodule were higher than control group and maximum phonation time was shorter in laryngeal nodule. There was a significance in width of hypopharyngeal wall, shape of pyriform sinus apex, level difference between both true vocal folds, elevated distance of vocal folds and shape of c-spine. Conclusions : Authors knew that there were differences when we used the phonation pharyngogram between normal group and laryngeal nodule group.

Formally p$\rightarrow$q means that affirming p one implicitly affirms q and that denying q one implicitly denies p. Denying p or affirming q do not lead to certain conclusions. Middle school students can recognize practical implication p$\rightarrow$q is true whenever p is false, but they don't recognize theoretical implication p$\rightarrow$q is true whenever p is false. They have not assimilated intuitively the complete structure of implication. Thus they do not distinguish naturally between the uncertain conclusion which can be drawn by affirming p and the certain rejection of p which follows from the negation of q. Also they can not recognize the uncertain conclusion which can be drawn by negation of p. There is no significant difference between practical conditional statements, formal conditional statements and conditional Inferences in advanced mathematics students. But there is a significant difference between formal conditional inferences and specific conditional inferences with statement p$\rightarrow$q is true when p is false.

The advanced computer network and Internet technology enables connectivity of computers through an open network environment. Despite the growing numbers of security threats to networks, most intrusion detection identifies security attacks mainly by detecting misuse using a set of rules based on past hacking patterns. This pattern matching has a high rate of false positives and can not detect new hacking patterns, making it vulnerable to previously unidentified attack patterns and variations in attack and increasing false negatives. Intrusion detection and prevention technologies are thus required. We proposed a network based hybrid Probe Intrusion Detection model using Fuzzy cognitive maps (PIDuF) that detects intrusion by DoS (DDoS and PDoS) attack detection using packet analysis. A DoS attack typically appears as a probe and SYN flooding attack. SYN flooding using FCM model captures and analyzes packet information to detect SYN flooding attacks. Using the result of decision module analysis, which used FCM, the decision module measures the degree of danger of the DoS and trains the response module to deal with attacks. For the performance evaluation, the "IDS Evaluation Data Set" created by MIT was used. From the simulation we obtained the max-average true positive rate of 97.064% and the max-average false negative rate of 2.936%. The true positive error rate of the PIDuF is similar to that of Bernhard's true positive error rate.

As Daniel Bell says, that modern society is an information society. In contrast to earlier days, modern society has placed a high value on information and knowledge. Therefore, modern civilization depends largely on information and knowledged, which is the most valuable sources of all intelligence activities. By coordinating a large number of human action, the information creates a powerful social tool. It combines its personnel with its resources and new materials at various level. At the same time, It continually evaluates how well it is performing and tries to adjust itself accordingly in order to achieve social goals. As we shall see, all this allows information to sew the various needs of society. In connection with above mentioned problem consciousness, the study is designed to sew the following purposes. As its title indicates, and perhaps most significant. This study is to review and reinterpret the existing literature on local telecommunication system, networks, and policy direction in order to arrive at a somewhat more general approach to understanding them. In local telecommunications service, the service exploitation and promotion and database development must be accomplished by establishing local telecommunications. If we develop local telecommunications toward the progressing direction, we would dissolve the regional information disparity and could also make the local policy suited for high-intelligence society. It is true of any science that knowledge is never complete. It is also true of a science that knowledge should grow, through systematic reexamination of the body of findings. There are certainly true of this study on the developmental direction for local telecommunication system.

The intensity-hue-saturation (IHS) technique has become a standard procedure in image analysis. It enhances the colour of highly correlated data. Unfortunately, IHS technique is sensitive to the properties of the analyzed area and usually faces colour distortion problems in the fused process. This paper explores the relationship of colour between before and after the fused process and the change in colour space of images. Subsequently, the fused colours are transformed back into the 'simulative' true colours by the following steps: (1) For each pixel of fused image that match with original pixel (of the coarse spectral resolution image) is transformed back to the true colour of original pixel. (2) The value for interpolating pixels is compensated to preserve the DN ratio between the original pixel and it's vicinity. The 'compensative matrix' is constructed by the DN of fused images and simulation of scaling process. An illustrative example of a Landsat and SPOT fused image also demonstrates the simulative true colour fusion methods.

This paper explains the construction of the filesystems which could be utilized in embedded systems as an implementation of ubiquitous computing. It includes the formal architecture of filesystem hierarchy for the DOC (Disk-On-Chip) filesystem and the flash filesystem based on the MTD (Memory Technology Devices). For DOC, the root filesystem and the user filesystem are constructed by the TrueFFS supported by the M-Systems. For MTD filesystem, the root filesystem is implemented in the fast RAM disk, and the user filesystem is implemented in the JFFS2 that supports large capacity. In order to support the GUI filesystem, the porting process of Qt/E is also included in this paper.

To evaluate remodeling of infarcted myocardium with contrast-enhanced MRI (co-MRI) at true end-diastole (ED) MRI was performed with a Gyroscan Intera (1.5 Tesla, Philips, Netherlands) in 13 patients with acute subendocardial myocardial infarction. The First exam was done 0-15 days (mean 5.2days) after symptom onset and the second exam 28-88days (mean 49 days) after the first exam. Ce-MRI encompassing the entire left ventricle was performed with a multi-shot, turbo-field-echo, breath-hold sequence and a non-selective, inversion prepulse 10 minutes after the intravenous injection of Gd-DTPA at a dose of 0.2 mmol/kg body weight. To allow the long TD, ECG synchronization should use two RR-intervals for one acquisition of a segment of k-space by setting the heart rate to half that of the true heart rate. Trigger delay time (TD) was adjusted to the RR-interval for true end-diastolic imaging. The other typical parameters were TR=5.4ms, TE=1.6ms, voxel size=1.37${\times}$1.37${\times}$10mm, k-space data segmented into 8 segments with 32 lines of segment per two cycles over 16 cardiac circles. The thickness of hyperenhanced myocardium and epicardially nonenhanced myocardium were followed.
