  • An efficient adaptive scheme based on a triple mixed quadrature rule of precision nine for approximate evaluation of line integral of analytic functions has been constructed. At first, a mixed quadrature rule SM1(f) has been formed using Gauss-Legendre three point transformed rule and five point Booles transformed rule. A suitable linear combination of the resulting rule and Clenshaw-Curtis seven point rule gives a new mixed quadrature rule SM10(f). This mixed rule is termed as triple mixed quadrature rule. An adaptive quadrature scheme is designed. Some test integrals having analytic function integrands have been evaluated using the triple mixed rule and its constituent rules in non-adaptive mode. The same set of test integrals have been evaluated using those rules as base rules in the adaptive scheme. The triple mixed rule based adaptive scheme is found to be the most effective.

  • Triple-tower double-cable suspension bridges have increased confinement stiffness imposed by the main cable on the middle tower, which has bright application prospects. However, vertical bending and torsional vibrations of the double-cable and the girder are coupled in such bridges due to the hangers. In particular, the bending vibration of the towers in the longitudinal direction and torsional vibrations about the vertical axis influence the vertical bending and torsional vibrations of the stiffening girders, respectively. The conventional analytical algorithm for assessing the dynamic features of the suspension bridge is not directly applicable to this type of bridge. This study attempts to mitigate this problem by introducing an analytical algorithm for solving the triple-tower double-cable suspension bridge's natural frequencies and mode shapes. D'Alembert's principle is employed to construct the differential equations of the vertical bending and torsional vibrations of the stiffening girder continuum in each span. Vibrations of stiffening girders in each span are interrelated via the vibrations of the main cables and the bridge towers. On this basis, the natural frequencies and mode shapes are derived by separating variables. The proposed algorithm is then applied to an engineering example. The natural frequencies and mode shapes of vertical bending and torsional vibrations derived by the analytical algorithm agreed well with calculations via the finite element method. The fundamental frequency of vertical bending and first- and second-order torsion frequencies of double-cable suspension bridges are much higher than those of single-cable suspension bridges. The analytical algorithm has high computational efficiency and calculation accuracy, which can provide a reference for selecting appropriate structural parameters to meet the requirements of dynamics during the preliminary design.

  • In this thesis, a 2 stage 6-pole bandpass filter(BPF) is designed and implemented by using triple-mode cavity for satellite payload system. The BPF has a 100MHz bandwidth at the center frequency of 14.5GHz(Ku-band) and the response of the filter is the Chebyshev function. The cavity filter uses two orthogonal $TE_{113}$ modes and one $TM_{012}$ mode. The coupling between the adjacent cavityes(intercavity coupling) results in a Chebyshev response and is accomplished by only H-filed component of TE modes. The size and location of intercavity slot is determined by the coupling equation from E- and H-field of TE and TM resonant modes in circular cavity. The 2-stage 6-pole triple-mode cavity BPF has the insertion loss of 2.4dB and the reflection loss of 15dB in the passband. The triple-mode BPF proposed in this thesis can be used as channel filters for satellite payload system and can minimize filter assembly in general wireless communication system.

  • This paper describes a tripple-mode DC-DC buck converter with DPSS Fucntion. The DC-DC buck converter operate in PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) mode at moderate to heavy loads(80mA~500mA), in PFM(Pulse Frequency Modulation)at light loads(1mA~80mA), and in LDO(Low Drop Out) mode at the sleep mode(<1mA). In PFM mode DPSS(Dynamic Partial Shutdown Strategy) is also employed to increase the efficiency at light loads. The triple-mode converter can thus achieve high efficiencies over wide load current range. The proposed DC-DC converter is designed in a CMOS 0.18um technology. It has a maximum power efficiency of 97.02% and maximum output current of 500mA. The input and output voltages are 3.3V and 2.5V, respectively. The chip size is $1465um{\times}895um$ including pads.

  • In this paper, the behavior of two collinear Mode-I cracks in piezoelectric/piezomagnetic materials subjected to a uniform tension loading was investigated by the generalized Almansi's theorem. Through the Fourier transform, the problem can be solved with the help of two pairs of triple integral equations, in which the unknown variables were the jumps of displacements across the crack surfaces. To solve the triple integral equations, the jumps of displacements across the crack surfaces were directly expanded as a series of Jacobi polynomials to obtain the relations among the electric displacement intensity factors, the magnetic flux intensity factors and the stress intensity factors at the crack tips. The interaction of two collinear cracks was also discussed in the present paper.

  • This study proposes a triple-loop current control method for the auxiliary power unit of fuel cell trains. The auxiliary power unit of fuel cell trains has a grid-connected function when power is supplied to the utility grid. Moreover, the auxiliary power unit of trains has a 1500 V DC link voltage; thus, PWM frequency cannot be increased to a high frequency. Owing to this low PWM frequency condition, creating a triple-loop design is difficult. In this study, a triple-loop controller is developed for a capacitor voltage controller in standalone mode that operates as an auxiliary power supply for trains and for a grid current controller in grid control mode with an inner capacitor voltage controller. The voltage controller employs an inductor current controller inner loop. To overcome low PWM frequency, a design method for the bandwidth of the capacitor voltage controller considering the bandwidth of the inner inductor current controller is described. The effectiveness of the proposed method is proven using PSIM simulation.

  • This study proposes the control strategy for the seamless mode transfer of indirect current controlled parallel grid-connected inverters. Under the abnormal grid condition, the grid-connected inverter can convert the operation mode from grid-connected to stand-alone mode to supply power to the local load. For a seamless mode transfer, the time delay problems caused by the accumulated control variable error must be solved, and the indirect current control method has been applied as one of the solutions. In this study, the design of control parameters for the proportional-resonant-based triple-loop indirect current controller and the control strategy for the seamless mode transfer of parallel grid-connected inverters are described and analyzed. The validity of the proposed mode transfer method is verified by the PSiM simulation results.

  • A monopulse feeder gives the most important impact upon the radiation pattern characteristics of a multi-function radar or a tracking radar which uses the space feed. It is described that the triple-mode type monopulse feeder which possesses the optimum aperture illumination for three monopulse channels is designed and measured in this paper. The measured results show that the designed feeder has not only the characteristics of the optimum aperture illimination in each channel and also very low return loss over the 10 % of fractional bandwidth at X-band. This means that the feeder provides the antenna system with low sidelobe level and high monopulse slope characteristics.
