  • 현재 통신 시장은 보다 편리하고 다양한 서비스를 찾는 소비자의 욕구와 맞물려 TPS(Triple Play Service) 방향으로 급속히 나아가고 있다. 인터넷 전화의 보급은 이미 보편적 서비스가 된 초고속인터넷 서비스와 연계하여 빠르게 확산되고 있으며, 2007년 들어 방송서비스까지 결합한 TPS에 대한 통신사업자간 경쟁이 본격화되고 있는 추세이다. 트리플 플레이 서비스(Triple Play Service;이하 TPS)는 초고속 인터넷과 인터넷 전화와 방송 서비스를 하나의 회선으로 제공하는 종합 인터넷 서비스로, 광대역 통합망(BcN; Broadband Convergence Network)의 핵심 서비스이다. 액세스 스위치(Access Switch) 단은 TPS로 인해 더욱 많은 역할을 담당할 것으로 전망되는데, 디지털 방송을 인터넷 프로토콜을 통해 전송하기 위한 멀티캐스트 기능과 혼재된 이종간의 디지털 신호를 각 서비스의 품질에 맞게 보장해 주는 QoS(Quality of Service) 기능이 무엇보다 중요하게 고려 되어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 TPS의 핵심일 수 있는 방송 서비스를 위해 액세스 스위치 단에서 제공해야 할 멀티캐스트와 QoS 기능 구현 방안에 대해 제시한다

  • In this paper, we address TPS (Triple Play Service) based on E-PON and also develop QoS control function for both directions, which is disadvantage of E-PON. E-PON technology has the configuration suitable for TPS, but relatively the large delay characteristics in upstream, so if QoS control function must be supported to transfer the real time traffic for both directions, E-PON technology can support TPS efficiently. Therefore, in this paper, we address the diverse requirements of quality for TPS, and then develop TPS platform to verify the quality characteristics according to QoS characteristics of each element in real environment based on this. This result will be used to improve the quality of TPS that become conventional in near future. ISP will use this result as the basis in establishing quality reference and as the guidance in developing new system.

Bandwidth Dimensioning for High-Speed Internet Access Networks (초고속인터넷 가입자망의 대역설계)

  • Recently, Internet service providers are offering triple play service which combines voice and video services with the existing high speed Internet service under the common network infrastructure of IP protocol, so that they can create more benefit from operating a single network architecture. In line with this movement in the convergence of network and services, in this work we propose a bandwidth dimensioning method for the subscriber network of the IP network at flow level. To that purpose, let us propose a series of bandwidth dimensioning methods: bandwidth for best effort service only, bandwidth dimensioning for premium services, and bandwidth dimensioning schemes for the premium Internet services as well as the best effort service which comprise the TPS. Our link dimensioning method is based on the flow level that incorporates the flow blocking probability as a measure of grade of services(GoS), and investigates the characteristics of the proposed methods via extensive numerical experiments. After that, let us carry out a simulation experiment concerning the delay and loss performance of the packet scheduling for the premium services (QoS) using the bandwidth designed by our proposed method, via which the packet level quality of service (QoS) for the proposed link dimensioning method can be observed.

  • IPTV is well known services of TPS (Triple play service). Since TPS supplies the bundle service, service providers can supply low-priced services for their subscribers. To supply high quality contents stably, it is an essential requirement to make payment for the services. According to the type of services, either CAS or DRM is used to protect the pay-contents service. Also IPTV uses or will use these security systems to protect the service. In this paper, we will describe security problems when a IPTV service provider chooses either CAS or DRM, and then propose a new security system to solve the problems.

  • The multimedia streaming service in NGN architecture is not only to deliver video streaming (VoD, Broadcasting TV, etc.) but also to provide new services and service bundles, such as Triple Play (IPTV + VoIP + Internet). Among these services, Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) is becoming a convergence of communication, content, computing, as well as an integration of broadcasting and telecommunication services. In this paper, we addresses enhanced IPTV management scheme aspect of E2E from Home Network to Head End Center over NGN to support efficient service management with a full quality of service (QoS) guarantee.

  • IPTV is referred to the service which provide integrated IPTV services for providing video, 10/100-Mbit/sec Internet, voice, video-on-demand (VOD), and other broadband applications including home security, video conferencing, and telemedicine. All services are integrated into an IP (Internet Protocol) architecture designed specifically for Gigabit Ethernet FTTH systems, HFC or xDLC. It is absolutely necessary that telecon operators provide IP video delivery platforms that enable service providers to transform their business. With their own products, they can better manage their existing services and generate new revenues from broadcast TV, movies on demand and multimedia. Triple-play is a combination of broadcast, telephony and broadband services offered through IPTV networks. With cable operators allowed to offer a triple-play bundle, the nation's telecom operators are beginning to get a little anxious. Cable operators assert that triple-play is a must-have and natural extension of the cable service bundle. The Korean Cable TV Association asserts that the triple-play model is of paramount importance to the cable industry's future growth. But the telecom sector considers itself unfairly disadvantaged, saying they cannot compete until regulatory issues are resolved. The start of web-based television in Korea may still be some time off with a confrontation between the nation's IT regulator and broadcasting sector over the service's legal boundaries shows no signs of being resolved my time soon. korea should be is the fastest-growing provider of IPTV solutions in the industry, with over worldwide customers.

  • PON(Passive Optical Network) is the promising technology applicable to TPS(Triple Play Service). To improve process the packet, MAC(Multiple Access Control) is the most important technology in the PON. The core of MAC is DBA(Dynamic Bandwidth Assignment), it classifies SR-DBA(Status Report DBA) and NSR-DBA(Non Status Report DBA). But GPON DBA is using BPON's DBA, so it's bad in network efficiency. This study develop BR(Borrow-Refund)-DBA for improve network efficiency and prompt process. For take the gauge of performance evaluation, estimate about throughput, fairness and queue delay in SR-DBA and NSR-DBA environment

  • Recently, broadband access networks have been competitively deployed all over the world with the development of various multimedia services for such a network. ETRI(Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute) built the FTTH(Fiber-To-the-Home) service center to develop a next-generation equipment and a high-quality service/platform as well as to promote domestic industry in the field of optical communication. The FTTH service center has a variety of test equipments such as FTTH standard testbed for a BMT(bench mark test), a network operation center, and IPTV service equipments. Also, ETRI deployed a new type of commercial optical access networks cooperating with ISP(Internet Service Provider). This paper presents the performance evaluation of FTTH E-PON(Ethernet Passive Optical Network) system as a platform for TPS(Triple Play Service) based on QoS(Quality of Service) and QoE(Quality of Expericence) issues. This FTTH E-PON system is successfully demonstrated as an optical access network system by commercial network service provider and the FTTH service center of ETRI.

  • Recently, as the expectation about the IPTV (Internet Protocol TV) service quality is rapidly increased by the development of the national high-speed internet and TPS (the Triple Play Service : data + image + audio) service Therefore, the enactment of the national quality standards about the IPTV service quality guaranteeing the real time video quality of a subscriber and the international standards are hastily needed. This paper built a test bed with the network domain and the subscriber set-top box domain including the headend area and commercial network characteristic in order to test in the environment which is similar to the characteristic of the service business network. And by using the constructed environment, the characteristics required for SLA(service Level Agreement) of the IPTV service are presented as the quality test according to the service environment change.
