낙동강 모래의 반복응력이력에 의한 거동 (Behaviour of Nak-dong River Sand on Cyclic Stress History)

  • Earthquakes not only produce additional load on the structures and underlying soil, but also change the strength characteristics of the soil. Therefore, in order to analyze soil structures for stability, the behaviour after earthquake must be considered. In this paper, a series of cyclic triaxial tests and monotonic triaxial tests were carried out to investigate the undrained shear strength and liquefaction strength characteristics of Nak-Dong River sand soils which were subjected to cyclic loading. The sample was consolidated in the first stage and then subjected to stress controlled cyclic loading with 0.1Hz. After the cyclic loading, the cyclic-induced excess pore water pressure was dissipated by opening the drainage valve and the sample was reconsolidated to the initial effective mean principal stress(p/sub c/'). After reconsolidation, the monotonic loading or cyclic loading were applied to the specimen. In the results, the undrained shear strength and liquefaction strength characteristics depended on the pore pressure ratio(Ur=U/p/sub c/'). The volume change following reconsolidation can be a function of cyclic-induced excess pore water pressure and the maximum double amplitude of axial strain.

직접단순전단시험을 통한 세립토의 강도와 강성저하 예측 (Prediction for degradation of strength and stiffness of fine grained soil using Direct Simple Shear Test (DSST))

  • Based on an estimating method for post-cyclic strength and stiffness with cyclic triaxial tests, Direct Simple Shear (DSS) tests were carried out to confirm whether the method can be adapted to DSS test on fine-grained soils: silty clay, plastic silt, and non-plastic silt. Results from post-cyclic DSS tests were interpreted by a modified method as adopted for post-cyclic triaxial tests. In particular, influence of plasticity index for fine-grained soils was emphasised. Findings obtained from the present study are: (i) the higher the plasticity index of fine-grained soils is, the less not stiffness ratio but strength ratio decreases with increment of a normalised excess pore water pressure; and (ii) post-cyclic strength and stiffness results from DSS tests agree well with those predicted by the method modified from a procedure used for triaxial test results.

정규압밀된 재성형 이암풍화토의 비배수 전단특성 (The Characteristics of Undrained Shear Strength for Normally Consolidated Decomposed Weathered Mudstone Soil)

  • 일반적으로 자연상태의 흙은 일차원 압밀을 받고 있으므로 등방압밀시료와는 그 거동양상이 상이하게 나타난다. 그러나 대부분의 실내시험에서는 실험상의 어려움과 시험장비의 부족으로 인하여 주로 등방시험을 통한 연구가 실시되고 있는 것이 현실이다. 따라서 비교적 간단한 등방 삼축 압축시험 결과로부터 $K_o$상태의 간극수압 및 비배수 전단강도를 추정할 수 있다면 매우 효과적이라 할 수 있을 것이다. 본 연구에서는 재성형된 이암풍화토를 이용하여 등방삼축압축시험과 $K_o$ 삼축압축시험을 실시하고, 쌍곡선 모델을 적용하여 간극수압비에 관련된 상수를 도출하였다. 그리고 Lo(1969)가 제안한 식을 적용하여 등방시험에서 얻어진 간극수압의 결과로부터 Ko 시험시 발생하는 간극수압의 거동을 예측함으로써 Lo(1969)식의 타당성을 검토하였다. 또한 압밀방법에 따른 비배수 전단강도를 함수비와 연관지어 살펴봄으로서 압밀방법이 전단강도에 미치는 영향을 파악하였다. 끝으로 한계상태 개념에 기초한 Wroth(1984)을 식을 적용하여 등방시험시의 비배수 전단강도로 부터 $K_o$ 상태의 비배수 전단강도를 예측하고 그 결과를 실험치와 비교함으로서 식의 유용성을 검증하였다.

띠근 보강 고강도 콘크리트 기둥의 강도 및 축변형 특성 산정에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Prediction of the Strength and Axial Strain of High-Strength Concrete Columns Confined by Tie Reinforcement)

  • 고강도 콘크리트는 기둥부재에서 그 사용효과가 극대화될 것이 예상되지만, 아직 고강도 콘크리트를 사용한 기둥의 연성특성과 최대강도효과에 대한 구체적인 자료가 부족한 실정이다. 띠근 보강된 콘크리트 기둥은 삼축압축상태가 되며, 고강도 콘크리트의 연성을 증가시키므로 이에 대한 많은 연구가 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 축하중을 받는 띠근보강 고강도 콘크리트 기둥부재의 횡보강효과에 의한 극한강도와 변형율 특성에 대하여 정성적 평가와 정량적 평가를 수행하는 것을 목적으로, 삼축압축상태하의 콘크리트 파괴이론과 기존의 실험결과들을 활용한 통계적기법을 이용하였다. 그 결과 콘크리트 강도, 띠근의 항복강도 및 간격비, 체적비 등을 변수로 고려하는 띠근의 횡보강응력 산정식, 최대압축강도 추정식 그리고 변형율 특성식을 제안하였다. 또한 제안된 식들은 실험결과를 적절히 예측하고 있음을 확인하였다.

모관흡수력에 따른 화강풍화토의 유효응력과 전단강도의 관계 (The Relationship Between Effective Stress and Shear Strength of Weathered Granite Soils Based on Matric Suctions)

  • 불포화토를 대상으로 $K_0$ 압밀조건에서 삼축시험을 수행하여 전단강도를 분석하였다. 불포화 삼축압축시험에서는 대구지역에 있는 풍화토 시료를 성형하여 다양한 모관흡수력을 조절하였다. 건조 및 습윤 시 함수특성시험을 수행하여 실험치들을 van Genuchten 곡선으로 모델하였다. 함수특성곡선으로부터 모관흡수력이 유효응력에 기여하는 성분을 평가할 수 있다. 이로부터 유효응력을 산정하였으며 유효응력에 따른 전단강도를 결정하였다. 다양한 모관흡수력에 따른 전단강도는 유효응력으로 기술하였을 때, 유일한 직선으로 나타나며 포화토의 파괴포락선과 일치함을 알 수 있었다.

  • Shearing properties of soil reinforced with discrete randomly oriented inclusions depend on soil density, particle size, grading, fiber length, tensile strength and stiffness of fiber, mixing ration of fiber, confining stress, etc.. In this paper the effects of those various factors on shear strength of the fiber-reinforced soil was evaluated through triaxial tests and uniaxial tests. Tests were performed on two sandy soils and one silty soil with inclusions in varing lengths, contents and tensile strengths and tested at different confining stresses in triaxial test. From the experimental results, it was investigated if there is an optimal range of fiber lengths and fiber contents for the tested soils.

흡인력에 따른 불포화토의 전단강도 특성 (Characteristics of Shear Strength for an Unsaturated Soil with the Matric Suction)

  • In order to analyse the strength problems for an unsaturated soil, it is required to examine closely the characteristics of the parameters of shear strength which was changed with the metric suction and void ratio. To this ends, a triaxial compression test was conducted on the three samples-granular soil, cohesive soil and silty soil. The specimen was made by pressing the static pressure on the mold filled soil and was controled the void ratio with the different compaction ratio. And the test was performed by using the modified apparatus of the triaxial compression tester. The range of matric suction was 0-90 kPa.The measured results for the deviator stress and parameters of shear strength were analysed with the void ratio and the compaction ratio, and they were examined closely the characteristics of the strength for an unsaturated soil.

유기산계 지반개량재를 혼합한 점토의 강도 특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Strength Characteristics of Clay Mixed with Organic Acid Ground Improvement Material)

  • 본 연구에서는 저에너지, 친환경적인 방법의 지반개량을 목적으로 하는 유기산재의 지반개량재로서의 강도특성을 모색하였다. 이에 유기산재를 활용하여 재령 28일까지의 일축압축강도시험 및 삼축압축시험을 통한 흙의 강도 변화에 대해 분석하였다. 유기산 재료를 첨가한 점토의 강도는 재령이 길어질수록, 유기산재 혼합비가 커질수록 전반적으로 증가하는 경향을 나타내었다. 유기산계 지반개량재 혼합에 따른 점토의 강도 증진 효과를 파악하는데 있어서, 일축압축강도시험과 삼축압축시험 결과를 통해 유기산재가 지반개량재로 쓰였을 때 가져오는 강도 증대효과가 있다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 결과적으로, 실내시험을 통해 지반개량에 있어 유기산계 지반개량재의 활용가능성을 볼 수 있었다. 향후 세부적인 시험과 현장시험이 좀 더 명확한 강도증진을 규명하는데 도움이 될 것으로 판단된다.

Hydro-mechanical behavior of compacted silt over a wide suction range

  • To achieve a wide suction range, the low suction was imposed on compacted silt specimens by the axis translation technique and the high suction was imposed by the vapor equilibrium technique with saturated salt solutions. Firstly, the results of soil water retention tests on compacted silt show that the soil water retention curves in terms of gravimetric water content versus suction relation are independent of the dry density or void ratio in a high suction range. Therefore, triaxial tests on compacted silt with constant water content at high suctions can be considered as that with constant suction. Secondly, the results of triaxial shear tests on unsaturated compacted silt with the initial void ratio of about 0.75 show a strain-hardening behavior with a slightly shear contraction and then strain-softening behavior with an obviously dilation. As the imposed suction increases, the shear strength increases up to a peak value and then decreases when the suction is beyond a special value corresponding to the peak shear strength. The residual strength increases to fair value and those at high suctions are almost independent of imposed suctions. In addition, the contribution of suction to the strength of compacted silt would not diminish even in a high suction range.

Effect of grain size on the shear strength of unsaturated silty soils

  • In this study, shear strength behavior of fine-grained soils was investigated under unsaturated conditions. The samples in the unsaturated state were subjected to a net normal stress (σ-ua) of 40 kPa and different matric suctions (ua-uw) of 50, 100 and 150 kPa. The matric suction values applied in the triaxial tests were selected according to the bubbling pressures determined from the SWC curves. The study was carried out on prepared re-constituted cylindrical samples by uniaxial consolidation of soil slurries. First, consolidated drained (CD) triaxial compression tests were performed on the saturated samples and the cohesion and angle of internal friction were determined. After that, drained triaxial compression tests under matric suctions were performed on the unsaturated samples. In order to obtain unsaturated test results, cohesion and internal friction angle values of saturated samples were used. The nonlinear surface representing the shear strength surface was approximated consisting of two planes (double planar surface). The reason for the nonlinear behavior of some soils is that the amount of sand content contained in it is relatively high and the bubbling pressure/permanent water content value is relatively low.
