Sliding Multiple Symbol Differential Detection of Trellis-coded MDPSK (트랠리스 부호화된 MDPSK의 흐름 다중심볼 차동검파)

  • In this paper, the idea of using a multiple symbol obervation interval to improve error probability performance is applied to differential detection of MTCM(multiple trellis code modulation) with ${\Pi}$/4 shift QPSK, 8DPSK and 16DPSK. We propose two types of sliding multiple symbol differential detection algorithm, type 1 and type 2. The two types of sliding detection scheme are examined and compared with conventional(symbol-by-symbol) detection and bolck detection with these modulation formats in an additive white Gaussian noise(AWGN) using the Monte Carlo simulation. We show that the amount of improvement over conventional and block detection depends on the number of phases and the number of additional symbol intervals added to the observation. Computer simulagtion results are presented for 2,4,8 states in AWGN channel.

A Reduced Complexity Decoding Scheme for Trellis Coded Modulation

  • In this paper, we propose a technique used to simplify the trellis diagram, thus, reduce the complexity of Viterbi decoder in term of the number of Compare-Select (CS) operations needs in decoding process. It is shown that if the branch metrics are properly decomposed into orthogonal components. The trellis diagram can be modified that each original state with large number branches terminating to it can be broken into a number of sub-states having smaller number of branches terminating to them. Simulation results shown that the newly proposed technique can be used reduced the complexity of 8 and 16 PSK-TCMs without degrading the BER performance.

  • Recently, research on the enhancement of the conventional VSB scheme for DTV signal transmission have been done. Not to affect on the performance of the widely spread conventional receivers and at the same time be able to receive the enhanced stream. there have been efforts to enhance the coding scheme which is backward compatible with the conventional method. The conventional schemes proposed so far is based on the idea of combining a new trellis encoder with the standard 8-VSB trellis encoder. In this paper, we Propose serial concatenated turbo TCM scheme which combines two trellis encoder with the interleaver between them. We compare the performance of the proposed scheme and the existing scheme through computer simulation.

  • In this paper, we propose the trellis coded spread spectrum communication system with one channel signal selection of the subset by the PN code. This paper proposes the Viterbi decoder that have the squared Euclidean distance of the order phase difference as well as 1st order phase difference as the branch metrics by using the multiple symbol detection method. TCM method was developed to overcome limited power and bandwidth efficiently in digital communication. we multiply one of convolution code's output data to PN code for applying TCM to the spread spectrum. We investigated the performance of the direct sequence/spread spectrum communication system with trellis coded modulation. In this system, we could improved the coding gain in the spread spectrum.

  • This paper described an Enhanced-xVSB system for improving mobile/pedestrian reception performance to the ATSC(Advanced Television System Committee) DTV 8-VSB transmission standard. E-xVSB system can transmit a mixture of normal (8-VSB) stream and enhanced (robust) stream. The robust stream has a higher threshold of visibility (TOV) compared to the standard stream, and legacy receivers ignore the robust packets. Thus, Enhanced-xVSB system is fully backward compatible with a current ATSC standard. For mobile and portable reception support, E-xVSB system adopts a reduced constellation methodas well as enhanced trellis-coded modulation scheme. E-xVSB system supports a variety of enhanced modulation schemes : Pseudo-2VSB, Enhanced-4VSB, modified Enhanced-8VSB and Hybrid-VSB. Proposed E-xVSB system performs well under serious dynamic multipath reception environment.

  • In land mobile communications, multipath fading is one of the key factors which affect the system performance. Some extensive studies have been carried out to improve the degraded performance under this fading channels. The PSAM channel compensation method using channel fading estimation is widely used and TCM is a combined coding and modulation technique that has been shown to provide significant coding gain without increasing the transmission bandwidth. In this paper, we analyze the performance of PSA-TC-8PSK which combines PSAM and TCM over frequency nonselective fading channels. To estimate channel fading, Wiener filter which minimizes error variance is used as compensation method and we analyze the affects on the system performance of the number of filter taps, period of the pilot symbol frame, and the Doppler frequency. In addition, we consider the symbol timing recovery circuit which can be implemented in the full-digital method and analyze the effects of symbol timing error on the system performance.

  • In this paper, the Viterbi decoder containing new branch metrics of the squared Euclidean distance with multiple order phase differences is introduced in order to improve the bit error rate (BER) in the differential detection of the trellis-coded MDPSK-OFDM. The proposed Viterbi decoder is conceptually same as the Continuous multiple phase differential detection method that uses the branch metric with multiple phase differences. Also, we describe the Viterbi algorithm in order to use this branch metrics. Our study shows that such a Viterbi decoder improves BER performance without sacrificing bandwidth and power efficiency Also. the proposed algorithm ran be used in the single carrier modulation.

Suboptimum detection of space-time trellis coded OFDM over slowly fading channel (느린 페이딩 채널에서 공간-시간 트렐리스 부호화된 OFDM의 준최적 검파)

  • We present a space-time trellis coded OFDM system in flow fading channels. Generalized principal ratio combining (GPRC) is also analyzed theoretically in frequency domain. The analysis show that the decoding metric of GPRC include the metrics of maximum likelihood (ML) and PRC. The computer simulations with M-PSK modulation are obtained in frequency flat and frequency selective lading channels. The decoding complexity and simulation running times are also evaluated among the decoding schemes.

  • 본 논문에서는 터보 TCM(Turbo Trellis Coded Modulation)에서 복호기 입력 전에 수신데이터를 이용하여 SNR을 추정하고, SNR에 따라 요구하는 성능을 만족하는 반복 복호수를 적응적으로 복호기 앞단에서 미리 설정하는 반복복호 제어기법을 제안한다. 성능분석결과 최대 반복 복호를 수행했을 때와 비교하여 성능 감소 없이 평균 반복 복호수를 줄일 수 있었다. 따라서 제안구조는 터보 TCM의 복호화 과정에서 문제점 중 하나인 복호 계산량과 지연을 성능 저하 없이 효율적으로 감소시킬 수 있다.

  • 본 논문에서는 고품질의 DTV, HDTV와 인터넷 등의 고속 광대역 멀티미디어 서비스를 위한 HFC(Hybrid Fiber Coaxial)-CATV망의 상향채널을 SPW(Signal Processing Worksystem)를 사용하여 모델링하고, HFC-CATV망 상향채널의 문제점인 유입잡음의 영향을 전산모의 실험을 통해 분석하였다. 그리고 상향채널의 열악성을 극복할 수 있는 방법으로 트렐리스 부호화 변조(Trellis-Coded Modulation)와 OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing)을 결합한 OFDM-TC8PSK 시스템을 제안하고 그 성능을 CATV 상향채널 환경에서 전산모의 실험하고 기존의 QPSK 시스템의 성능과 비교 분석하였다.
