  • The goal of this study is to propose an efficient model for recognizing and classifying tree images to measure the accuracy that can be applied to smart devices during class. From the 2009 revised textbook to the 2015 revised textbook, the learning objective to the fourth-grade science textbook of elementary schools was added to the plant recognition utilizing smart devices. In this study, we compared the recognition rates of trees before and after retraining using a pre-trained inception V3 model, which is the support of the Google Inception V3. In terms of tree recognition, it can distinguish several features, including shapes, bark, leaves, flowers, and fruits that may lead to the recognition rate. Furthermore, if all the leaves of trees may fall during winter, it may challenge to identify the type of tree, as only the bark of the tree will remain some leaves. Therefore, the effective tree classification model is presented through the combination of the images by tree type and the method of combining the model for the accuracy of each tree type. I hope that this model will apply to smart devices used in educational settings.

  • Studies on the electrical treeing deterioration and dielectric breakdown phenomena in the polymeric insulator of polyethylene and epoxy resin were carried out. Block type samples with needle-plane electrode geometry were electrically stressed and the tree pattern from the needle tip was observed. In LDPE the density of electrical tree was very high and its pattern was bush type. For the case of XLPE, branched tree was observed. As temperature and SN content increased, the dielectric breakdown voltage decreased and the treeing phenomena became more complicated. Fan type cracks were observed around the conducting tree path in the brittle DGEBA/MDA system.

  • This study investigated the effect of forest type changes in Daegu, the hottest city in Korea, on the land surface temperature (LST). The LST change by forest type was analyzed by 2scene of Landsat TM image from 1990 to 2007. The land cover types were classified into 4 types; forest areas, urban areas, cultivated areas and other areas, and water areas. The forest areas were further classified into the coniferous tree areas and the broadleaf tree areas. The result of the statistical analysis of the LST change according to the forest type showed that the LST increased when the forest was changed to the urban area. The LST increased by about $0.6^{\circ}C$ when a broadleaf tree area was changed to an urban area and about $0.2^{\circ}C$ when a coniferous tree area was changed to an urban area. This was the temperature change as the result of the simple type change for 17 years. The temperature change was larger when considering both cases of the forest type being retained and changed. The LST increased by $2.3^{\circ}C$ more when the broadleaf tree areas were changed to the urban areas than when broadleaf trees were maintained. The LST increased by $1.9^{\circ}C$ more when the coniferous tree areas were changed to the urban areas than when the coniferous tree areas were maintained. The LST increased by $0.4^{\circ}C$ more when the broadleaf tree areas were destroyed than when the coniferous tree areas were destroyed. The results confirmed that the protection of broadleaf trees in urban forests was more effective for mitigating climate change.

  • BCH code is one of the most widely used error correcting code for the detection and correction of random errors in the modern digital communication systems. The conventional BCH encoder that is operated in bit-serial manner cannot adequate with the recent high speed appliances. Therefore, parallel encoding algorithms are always a necessity. In this paper, we introduced a new systolic array type BCH parallel encoder. To study the area and speed, several parallel factors of the systolic array encoder is compared. Furthermore, to prove the efficiency of the proposed algorithm using tree-type structure, the throughput and the area overhead was compared with its counterparts also. The proposed BCH encoder has a great flexibility in parallelization and the speed was increased by 40% than the original one. The results were implemented on synthesis and simulation on FPGA using VHDL.

  • The column-tree type steel beam-column connections are commonly used in East Asian countries, including Korea. The welding detail between the stub beam and column is similar to the WUF-W connection; thus, it can be expected to have sufficient seismic performance. However, previous experimental studies indicate that premature slip occurs at the friction joints between the stub and link beams. In this study, for the accurate seismic performance evaluation of column-tree type moment connections, a moment-slip model was proposed by investigating the previous test results. As a result, it was found that the initial slip occurred at about 25% of the design slip moment strength, and the amount of slip was about 0.15%. Also, by comparing the analysis results from models with and without the slip element, the influence of slip on the performance of overall beam-column connections was examined. As the panel zone became weaker, the contribution of slip on overall deformation became greater, and the shear demand for the panel zone was reduced.

  • This study aims to identify the characteristics of businesses influencing the choice of their type in the 6th industry and analyze how they work. This study analyzed data of 752 businesses certified as belonging to the 6th industry in 2015 through the classification and regression tree (CART) algorithm in decision tree analysis. The results of analysis showed that the type of agricultural product processing, region, the type of service, and the production percentage in a province affected a choice of the type. The most important variable that impacted how businesses in the 6th industry chose their type was the type of agricultural product processing, and if a business produced simple agricultural products, it was likely to specialize into $1st^*2nd$ or $1st^*3rd$. Access to large consumption areas was a critical factor in the growth of 2nd and 3rd industrial functions. These findings would contribute to establishing a model to develop the 6th industry and empirically demonstrate the importance of access to large consumption areas for agricultural businesses and rural tourism.

  • PURPOSES : The objective of this study is to develop a pavement rehabilitation decision tree considering current pavement condition by evaluating severity and distress types such as roughness, cracking and rutting. METHODS : To improve the proposed overall rehabilitation decision tree, current decision tree from Korea and decision trees from other countries were summarized and investigated. The problem when applying the current rehabilitation method obtained from the decision tree applied in Seoul was further analyzed. It was found that the current decision trees do not consider different distress characteristics such as crack type, road types and functions. Because of this, different distress values for IRI, crack rate and plastic deformation was added to the proposed decision tree to properly recommend appropriate pavement rehabilitation. Utilizing the 2017 Seoul pavement management system data and considering all factors as discussed, the proposed overall decision tree was revised and improved. RESULTS :In this study, the type of crack was included to the decision tree. Meanwhile current design thickness and special asphalt mixture were studied and improved to be applied on different pavement condition. In addition, the improved decision tree was incorporated with the Seoul asphalt overlay design program. In the case of Seoul's rehabilitation budget, rehabilitation budget can be optimized if a 25mm milling and overlay thickness is used. CONCLUSIONS:A practical and theoretical evaluation tool in pavement rehabilitation design was presented and proposed for Seoul City.

  • This paper describes the new method for Internet multicast routing protocols using MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching) networks. Internet multicast routing protocols are divided into three categories in terms if tree types and tree characteristics : a shortest path tree a shared tree and hybrid tree types. MPLS should support various multicast mechanisms because of extremely different IP multicast architectures, such as uni-/bi-directional link, Flooding/prune tree maintenance mechanism. the existence of different tree types with the same group, etc. There are so many problems over MPLS multicast that the solutions can't be easily figured out. In this Paper, we make a few assumptions on which the solutions of IP multicast routing protocols over MPLS networks are given. A broadcasting label is defined for the shortest path tree types. Cell interleaving problems of the shared tree types is solved by using block-based transmission mechanism. Finally, the existing hybrid-type multicast routing protocol is reasonably modified Shortest Path tree type to support MPLS multicast. It has been shown that these modifications give better performance (transmission delay) than the orignal method.
