This study investigated tree vigor of damaged forest by Thecodiplosis japonensis Uchida et Inouye. In damaged forest by pine gall midge, the investigation result of damaged rate section (severe, moderate, light) indicated that severe stand showed higher value of electric resistance ($k{\Omega}$) than that of light stand, the investigation result of tree density section(crowed, middle, little) indicated that crowed stand showed higher value of electric resistance than that of little stand (the value of electric resistance at which low reading show high vigor tree and high reading low vigor tree). The crown width and DBH (diameter of breast height) of external factors showed lower value of electric resistance than that of small size. The results of comparative between Crown area and value of electric resistance in each stand were $13.4m^2$ in severe stand, $10.9m^2$ in moderate stand and $7.9m^2$ in light stand. Therefore, the tree which have big crown showed low value of electric resistance (below $15k{\Omega}$)that has high possible of survial.
In the year 2000 we culminated a successful five year investigation of climate change by completing a preliminary east-west transect across Mongolia. An earlier tree-ring study at Tarvagatay Pass, Mongolia indicated unusual warming during the 20th century similar to other paleo-investigations of the northern hemisphere. This record had represented one of the few tree-ring records for central Asia. New data from several sites in western Mongolia confirmed the preliminary temperature. The highest twenty-year growth period for the composite record is from 1973-1994. The western Mongolian record was significantly correlated with the Taimyr Peninsula and two northern hemisphere temperature reconstructions reflecting large-scale temperature patterns while showing some important regional differences. These differences should prove useful for climate models. We have also developed a millennial length temperature-sensitive record at the Solongotyin Davaa site (formerly Tarvagatay Pass) using relict wood and living trees. Conspicuous features over the last 1000 years are a century scale temperature decline punctuated by the end of the Little Ice Age in the late-1800s and 20th century warming. The record also shows a cold period early in the 12th century and warm intervals late in the 10th, early in the 15th and at end of the 18th centuries. Despite a limited sample size before 900 AD, the long Solongotyin Davaa record is useful in indicating severe cold events and suggests some cold intervals nearly as severe. These tree ring series, spanning much of the circumpolar northern treeline, have been compiled to create a long-term reconstruction of the Earth's temperature over centuries. The new chronology, in addition to its value as a detailed record of Mongolian climate, provides independent corroboration for such hemispheric and global reconstructions and their indications of unusual warming during the 20th century.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to specify major tongue diagnostic indicators and evaluate their significance in discriminating pattern identification subtypes in stroke patients. Methods: This study used a community based multi-center observational design. Participants (n=1,502) were stroke patients admitted to 11 oriental medical university hospitals between December 2006 and February 2010. To determine which tongue indicator affected each pattern identification, a decision tree analysis of the chi-square automatic interaction detector (CHAID) algorithm was performed. The chi-squared test was used as the criterion in splitting data with a p-value less than 0.05 for division, which is the main procedure for developing a decision tree. The minimum sample size for each node was specified as n =10, and branching was limited to two levels. Results: From the 9 tongue diagnostic indicators, 6 major tongue indicators (red tongue, pale tongue, yellow fur, white fur, thick fur, and teeth-marked tongue) were identified through the decision tree analysis. Furthermore, each pattern identification was composed of specific combinations of the 6 major tongue indicators. Conclusions: This study suggests that the 6 tongue indicators identified through the decision tree analysis can be used to discriminate pattern identification subtypes in stroke patients. However, it is still necessary to re-evaluate other pattern identification indicators to further the objectivity and reliability of traditional Korean medicine.

Birds play a main role in the formation and change of forest structures as they are seed-dispersal agents. This study aims to identify birds consuming fruits and seeds of the tree and their associated fruits and seeds on Jeju Island in the context on the forest restoration in Korea. We conducted field surveys twice a month from 2013 to 2015 at nine study sites located across Jeju Island and collected available photographic and observation records. A total of 50 species of birds consuming fruits and seeds of the tree were identified and birds belonging to Bombycillidae, Pycnonotidae, Zosteropidae, Sturnidae and Fringillidae were confirmed as major birds consuming fruits and seeds of the tree. Gulping was the dominant type of feeding as well as crushing, but relationship between the size of a bird and the number of fruit and seed species used by the bird was not significant. We also documented that 118 fruit and seed species were consumed by birds and that shrubby fruits and seeds were more consumed by birds than those of other plant types. The relative consumption rate of fruits and seeds ranged from 0.02 to 0.44, but five species were the most important fruits and seeds for birds. Our finding suggest that avian frugivorous gulpers will benefit the seed dispersal, especially of five fruiting plants, providing useful baseline data for forest restoration and urban park design.
In this paper, a performance evaluation model of the Fat-tree Network with the multiple-buffered crossbar switches is proposed and examined. Buffered switch technique is well known to solve the data collision problem of the switch network. The proposed evaluation model is developed by investigating the transfer patterns of data packets in a switch with output-buffers. Two important parameters of the network performance, throughput and delay, are then evaluated. The proposed model takes simple and primitive switch networks, i.e., no flow control and drop packet, to demonstrate analysis procedures clearly. It, however, can not only be applied to any other complicate modern switch networks that have intelligent flow control but also estimate the performance of any size networks with multiple-buffered switches. To validate the proposed analysis model, the simulation is carried out on the various sizes of Fat-tree networks that uses the multiple buffered crossbar switches. Less than 2% differences between analysis and simulation results are observed.
Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and Southern hybridization analyses were carried out to identify clones of silk worm thorn (Cudraria tricuspidata) and Rose of sharon (Hibiscus syriacus) which look like one tree with two ar three, branches or two or three different trees. For PCR five different PCR primers $(17{\sim}24\;nucleotides)$ are derived from CaMV 35S promoter, nopaline synthase terminator and coding region of thylakoid membrane protein gene. In the case of silk worm thorn, about 500 bp of PCR product was produced from DNAs of one tree or branch in the presence of 35S primer alone. Southern hybridization analysis of genomic DNAs hybridized with $^{32}P$ labeled PCR product showed that the same size of DNA fragments were hybridized with different intensities. In addition, PCR analyses using 20 different primers of OPERON 10-mer kits showed that only OPA01 primer produced PCR products of different size. These results indicate that two different trees of silk worm thorn combined to one tree. In the case of the Rose of Sharon, the same size of PCR products were produced from three different samples but Southern hybridization with the above PCR product as a probe did not show any hybridized bands. PCR analyses in the presence of OPERON 10-mers showed OPA04 and OPA13 produced different products including same sizes of products. These, results indicate that three different trees of the Rose of Sharon seem to be derived from the tree.
Due to the characteristics of a data stream, it is very important to confine the memory usage of a data mining process regardless of the amount of information generated in the data stream. For this purpose, this paper proposes the Prime pattern tree(PPT) for finding frequent itemsets over data streams with using the confined memory space. Unlike a prefix tree, a node of a PPT can maintain the information necessary to estimate the current supports of several itemsets together. The length of items in a prime pattern can be reduced the total number of nodes and controlled by split_delta $S_{\delta}$. The size and the accuracy of the PPT is determined by $S_{\delta}$. The accuracy is better as the value of $S_{\delta}$ is smaller since the value of $S_{\delta}$ is large, many itemsets are estimated their frequencies. So it is important to consider trade-off between the size of a PPT and the accuracy of the mining result. Based on this characteristic, the size and the accuracy of the PPT can be flexibly controlled by merging or splitting nodes in a mining process. For finding all frequent itemsets over the data stream, this paper proposes a PPT to replace the role of a prefix tree in the estDec method which was proposed as a previous work. It is efficient to optimize the memory usage for finding frequent itemsets over a data stream in confined memory space. Finally, the performance of the proposed method is analyzed by a series of experiments to identify its various characteristics.

Little is known of the life history of Garcinia kola; the objective of this study, therefore, was to assess the fruiting age and tree size of the species in a coastal humid tropical climate plantation condition. A total 103 trees were used in the study viz; 80 ten-year-old trees at reproductive maturity onset and 13 thirty-year-old trees with several cycles of reproduction that constitute two independent variables. Data collected were age of onset of flowering and size at reproductive maturity onset. Relative size at reproductive maturity onset (RSOM) was estimated as size at reproductive maturity onset (SOM) divided by asymptotic maximal size (AMS). Data analysis was conducted using pairwise t-test and principal component analysis (PCA). Reproductive maturity onset (flowering) was recorded in the ten-year-old stand eight (8) years after planting. Mean size at reproductive maturity onset (SOM) was height 5.32±1.7 m, dbh 0.11±0.03 m, total number of branches was 29.6±7.3, crown depth 5.24±1.05 m, crown diameter was 4.78±0.7 m, branch diameter 0.098±0.01 m, leaf length 0.13±0.02 m, leaf breadth 0.37±0.01 m, twig length 0.35±0.11 m and leaf per twig 6±0.84 and asymptotic maximal size (AMS) was height 19.85±0.76 m, dbh 0.95±0.09 m, total number of branches 62±5, crown depth 18.83±0.7 m, crown diameter 12.5±1.64 m, branch diameter 0.5±1.6 m, leaf length 0.16±0.023 m, leaf breadth 0.45±0.12 m, twig length 0.37±0.11 m and leaf per twig 19±7.5. Pairwise t-test analysis showed there was significant differences between SOM and AMS in all growth factors except leaf length, leaf breadth, and twig length. Highest relative size at reproductive maturity onset (RSOM) was recorded in leaf length 0.82, twig length 0.82, and leaf breadth 0.80, while, the lowest was branch diameter 0.11. Four components out of the total of eleven were extracted to explain the relationship in RSOM: Principal component one (PC1) explained 37.23%; PC2 26.4%, PC3 22.73%, and PC4 13.64%.

Captions include information which relates to the images. In order to obtain the information in the captions, text extraction methods from images have been developed. However, most existing methods can be applied to captions with a fixed height or stroke width using fixed pixel-size or block-size operators which are derived from morphological supposition. We propose an edge connected components based method that can extract Korean captions that are composed of various sizes and fonts. We analyze the properties of edge connected components embedding captions and build a decision tree which discriminates edge connected components which include captions from ones which do not. The images for the experiment are collected from broadcast programs such as documentaries and news programs which include captions with various heights and fonts. We evaluate our proposed method by comparing the performance of the latent caption area extraction. The experiment shows that the proposed method can efficiently extract various sizes of Korean captions.
