This study has conducted an experiment of comparing the flame resistant performance and combustion characteristics according to flame resistant treatment using the Cypress Luba and particle board that is commonly used for interior decoration and furniture. As a result of testing the flame resistant performance of Cypress Luba, the Cypress Luba injected with flame resistant resin using the vacuum pressure treatment has shown to have better performances (carbonized area 9.55% and carbonized length 22.91%) than the Cypress Luba treated with flame resistant coating having rubberized plastic components on its surface. For particle board, the specimen attached with fireproof film was identified to be better (carbonized area 40.10% and carbonized length 43.40%) than the specimen with non-fireproof film. For the results of combustion characteristics using the Cone Calorimeter, the specimen treated with flame resistant coating on the surface had faster ignition than the Cypress Luba injected with fire resistant resin using vacuum pressure treatment, and in the total release of calories, the Cypress Luba injected with fire resistant resin using vacuum pressure had $68.2MJ/m^2$, and the specimen treated with fire resistant coating on the surface had $111.52MJ/m^2$. For the particle board, the ignition time had a little difference but in the total release of calories, the specimen attached with fireproof film had $90.1MJ/m^2$ and the specimen with non-fireproof film had $107.6MJ/m^2$.

For the purpose of developing liner board for water resistant corrugated board in the cold chain system, several types of base paper for corrugated board were purchased from the market and 6 different boards were produced in the mill by applying the chemicals, chosen in the previous studies, on the base paper. Then water-moisture resistance and physical properties of the boards were compared each other. The liner board which is dried at high temperature with pressure by Condebelt (CK paper) showed a superior performance in strength over common liner boards. Strength of the board increased by surface chemical treatment up to $60\%$ of compressive strength and $30\%$ of burst strength. Starch insolubilization with Ammonium Zirconium Carbonate and surface coating with a surface sizing agent and a moisture resistant chemical on CK paper showed the best result. Therefore this method was recommended to produce the outer liner board for water resistant corrugated board.
Tuberculosis (TB) is still a major health problem worldwide. Especially, multidrug-resistant TB (MDR-TB), which is defined as TB that shows resistance to both isoniazid and rifampicin, is a barrier in the treatment of TB. Globally, approximately 3.4% of new TB patients and 20% of the patients with a history of previous treatment for TB were diagnosed with MDR-TB. The treatment of MDR-TB requires medications for a long duration (up to 20-24 months) with less effective and toxic second-line drugs and has unfavorable outcomes. However, treatment outcomes are expected to improve due to the introduction of a new agent (bedaquiline), repurposed drugs (linezolid, clofazimine, and cycloserine), and technological advancement in rapid drug sensitivity testing. The World Health Organization (WHO) released a rapid communication in 2018, followed by consolidated guidelines for the treatment of MDR-TB in 2019 based on clinical trials and an individual patient data meta-analysis. In these guidelines, the WHO suggested reclassification of second-line anti-TB drugs and recommended oral treatment regimens that included the new and repurposed agents. The aims of this article are to review the treatment strategies of MDR-TB based on the 2019 WHO guidelines regarding the management of MDR-TB and the diagnostic techniques for detecting resistance, including phenotypic and molecular drug sensitivity tests.
Objective: The objective of this study was to determine whether a dietary vitamin E (VE) supplement could alleviate any detrimental effects of aged corn on lipid metabolism and antioxidant status in laying hens. Methods: The experiment consisted of a 2×3 factorial design with two corn types (normal corn and aged corn (stored for 4 yr) and three concentrations of VE (0, 20, and 100 IU/kg). A total of 216 Lohmann laying hens (50 wk of age) were randomly allocated into six treatment diets for 12 wk. Each treatment had 6 replicates of 6 hens per replicate. Results: The results show that aged corn significantly decreased the content of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (p<0.05), and reduced chemokine-like receptor 1 (CMKLR1) mRNA expression (p<0.05) in the liver compared to controls. Diet with VE did not alter the content of crude fat and cholesterol (p>0.05), or acetyl-CoA carboxylase, lipoprotein lipase, fatty acid synthase or CMKLR1 mRNA expression (p>0.05) in the liver among treatment groups. Aged corn significantly increased the content of malondialdehyde (MDA) (p<0.05) and decreased superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity (p<0.05) in the liver. The VE increased the content of MDA (p<0.05) but decreased glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) activity in serum (p<0.01) and in the ovaries (p<0.05). Adding VE at 20 and 100 IU/kg significantly increased GSH-Px activity (p<0.05) in liver and in serum (p<0.01), 100 IU/kg VE significantly increased SOD activity (p<0.05) in serum. Aged corn had no significant effects on GSH-Px mRNA or SOD mRNA expression (p<0.01) in the liver and ovaries. Addition of 100 IU/kg VE could significantly increase SOD mRNA expression (p<0.01) in the liver and ovary. Conclusion: Aged corn affected lipid metabolism and decreased the antioxidant function of laying hens. Dietary VE supplementation was unable to counteract the negative effects of aged corn on lipid metabolism. However, addition of 100 IU/kg VE prevented aged corninduced lipid peroxidation in the organs of laying hens.
Effect of tempering treatment on the mechanical properties of 12Cr heat resistant steel with ferrite phase was investigate in this study. As time and temperature of tempering treatment were increase, C and Cr contents in matrix structure were decreased. Due to increase of the amount of Cr26C6 type carbides. It was confirmed in mechanical properties experimental that tensile strength and hardness were decreased, while elongation and impact value were, increased with increasing the time and temperature.
Treatment-resistant schizophrenia (TRS) has been defined as the persistence of positive symptoms despite two or more trials of antipsychotic medication of adequate dose and duration. TRS is a serious clinical problem and occurs in approximately 30% of patients with schizophrenia. It is important that patients who do not adequately respond to antipsychotics be reevaluated to exclude or address causes other than non-responsiveness to medication, that is, the possibility of pseudo-resistance. In particular, non-adherence to oral antipsychotic treatment should be monitored to rule out pseudo-resistant cases of TRS. Moreover, patients with TRS who take their medication as required may have subtherapeutic antipsychotic plasma levels, secondary to pharmacokinetic factors. In this paper, we review the concept and exclusion of pseudo-resistance, especially owing to non-adherence or pharmacokinetic factors, and present methods to enhance drug adherence.

A partial response or resistance to chemotherapeutic agents is considered as a main obstacle in treatment of patients with cancer, including breast cancer. Refining taxane-based treatment procedures using adjuvant or combination treatment is a novel strategy to increase the efficiency of chemotherapy. PPM1D is a molecule activated by reactive oxygen species. whose expression is reported to modulate the recruitment of DNA repair molecules. In this study we examined the impact of arsenic trioxide on efficacy of paclitaxel-induced apoptosis in paclitaxel-resistant MCF-7 cells. We also investigated the expression of PPM1D and TP53 genes in response to this combination treatment. Resistant cells were developed from the parent MCF-7 cell line by applying increasing concentrations of paclitaxel. MTT assays were applied to determine the rate of cell survival. DAPI staining using fluorescent microscopy was employed to study apoptotic bodies. Real-time RT-PCR analysis was also applied to determine PPM1D mRNA levels. Our results revealed that combination of arsenic trioxide and paclitaxel elevates the efficacy of the latter in induction of apoptosis in MCF-7/PAC resistant cells. Applying arsenic trioxide also caused significant decreases in PPM1D mRNA levels (p<0.05). Our findings suggest that arsenic trioxide increases paclitaxel-induced apoptosis by down regulation of PPM1D expression. PPM1D dependent signaling can be considered as a novel target to improve the efficacy of chemotherapeutic agents in resistant breast cancer cells.

Purpose: The prevalence of antibiotic-resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae meningitis has increased worldwide. There are some reports about postoperative antibiotic-resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae infection after craniofacial surgery, but, there is no report in Korea. We present a report on the treatment of postoperative multidrug-resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae (MRSP) meningitis and sepsis after craniofacial surgery based on our experience. Methods: The patient was a 7-year-old boy with Crouzon's disease who was treated by fronto-orbital bar advancement. Intraoperatively, frontal sinus opening was seen during osteotomy which was covered with forehead galeopericranial flap. MRSP meningitis was diagnosed after the surgery, he was treated with intravenous vancomycin, meropenem, and levofloxacin. Results: The patient was treated successfully after 3 weeks of intravenous antibiotics treatment. During the 8 month follow-up period, there was no neurologic sequelae. Conclusion: Postoperative infection after craniofacial surgery is an important phenomenon that needs immediate recognition. Prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment immediate after onset are important as countermeasures against postoperative drug-resistant bacterial infection. To prevent adverse outcome and reoperation, proper antibiotics treatment should be performed.

Objectives: Recent studies have reported that delayed initiation of clozapine can affect clinical response in patients with treatment-resistant schizophrenia (TRS). This study aimed to explore the relationship between delayed initiation of clozapine and acute treatment response. Methods: Sixty-five inpatients with TRS who started clozapine for the first time were included through a retrospective chart review. Acute treatment response was defined as a 30% reduction in the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale score or a Clinical Global Impression of Improvement score of 1 (very much improved) or 2 (much improved) at 4 weeks after initiating clozapine. Results: After meeting the TRS criteria, the mean delay for initiating clozapine was approximately 13.8 months. The delay was shorter in patients who showed a better response to clozapine in logistic regression analysis (p=0.037). Conclusion: Our findings suggest that reducing the delay in initiating clozapine increases the effectiveness of clozapine in patients with TRS.
Andongpo, 100% Korean hemp fabric was treated with the glyoxale resin type finishing agent and/or the soluble urethane type finishing agent to determine the optimum process condition of the crease resistant finish and the crease recovery of treated sample fabrics was evaluated for the study. The treatment conditions for the study were 6 conditions, such as, A-1~A-6, in which A-1 was the condition of treatment glyoxale resin type finishing agent only and A-2~A-6 were the condition of treatment both glyoxale resin type finishing agent and soluble urethane type finishing agent. Among the 6 conditions, the crease recovery of the sample treated with A-4 condition was $148^{\circ}$(angle of recovery method) and grade 3.2(appearance method) and so, these samples showed the excellent crease recovery. From the result, 15g/l of the catalyst conc., 50g/l of the glyoxale resin type finishing agent cone., and 40g/l of the softner were the optimum treatment condition for the crease resistant finish of the andongpo.
