The writers have treated in hospital a two-year and 4 month boy child with Guillain-Barre syndrome whose chief complaints are flaccid tetraparalysis and hypesthesia for about three months from December 2, 1996. In the early stage, the principles and methods of treatment such as wind expelling and removal of dampness(?風濕) and obstruction in meridians and collaterals(通經活絡) were used and in the late stage the principles and methods of treatment to invigorate the spleen, replenish Ki(健脾益氣), and nourish the liver and kidneys(滋補肝腎) were applied, together with acupuncture, indirect moxibustion and massotheraphy. Since then, the symptom has gradually improved. Six months after onset, the boy child was recovered to a nearly normal condition. Therefore, this case of treatment is reported, together with consideration of literature.

1) Objective External treatments have various curative effects. So it had been used to cure various patients. But, it has a limited sphere of application in the present South Korea. And the ${\ulcorner}$Li-Yao-Pian-Won${\lrcorner}$ had been written by Wu-Shang-Xian(吳尙先) in 1864. The book is the first technical book of external treatments. So, he has been held in respected as the father of external treatments by many people. Therefore we would like to bring out it’s external treatments theory 2) Conclusions Wu-Shang-Xian(吳尙先) had insisted that external treatments principles are identical with internal treatments. So, prescriptions of external treatment are selected and made by principles of internal treatment. (1) The factors of determination external treatment’s methods are focus (meridian, inside and outside etc.), attribute of diseases, patient’s liking. (2) The treatment regions are decided by meridian theory, diseases region and external treatment’s methods.

Cancer treatment remains a serious problem worldwide. Analysis of the relationship between cancer cells and normal cells reveals that these two share characteristics in contradiction, thus could be analyzed by using contradictory principles. Under the theory of contradictory principles, induction of a dormant state or reversal of cancer cells is an important treatment strategy beyond traditional cytotoxic therapy. Normal cells are also the targets and under the influence of anti-cancer treatments and should be considered during therapy. Findings based on crosstalk between these two cell types may offer opportunities for the development of new biomarkers and therapies.

1. Objectives: This research was proposed to find out how the recognition on Mangeum-syndrome(亡陰證) of Soyangin in Sasang Constitutional Medicine(SCM) evolved from "Donguisusebowon-GabObon(東醫壽世保元甲午本)"(DGO) to "Donguisusebowon-ShinChukbon(東醫壽世保元辛丑本)"(DSC). 2. Methods: We compared "Donguisusebowon-GabObon(東醫壽世保元甲午本)"(DGO) with "Donguisusebowon-ShinChukbon(東醫壽世保元辛丑本)"(DSC) to know how the symptom, mechanism, treatment principle and treatment methods on Mangeum-syndrome(亡陰證) of Soyangin in Sasang Constitutional Medicine(SCM). 3. Results and Conclusions: (1) The way to categorize the Exterior Disease and Interior Disease was different between DSC and DGO. (2) There was only a fundamental mechanism about the Boktongseolsa-syndrome(gastralgia and diarrhea) and no treatment principles and treatment methods about it in DGO. But the Boktongseolsa-syndrome was evolved into Mangeum-syndrome(亡陰證) in DSC with a detailed mechanism and treatment principles of it. (3) The evolution of Mangeum-syndrome(亡陰證) in DSC from Boktongseolsa-syndrome in DGO was attributed to the experience of treatment on Seomeo-syndrome(譫語證).

Objectives : 'Pi Wei Lun' is the principal medical work of Li Dongyuan's writings, which contains most of his medical theories. There are sixty-three prescriptions in 'Pi Wei Lun', and fifty-two of them were originated from him. This study was planned to present assistance to those who apply Dongyuan's theory clinically. Methods : We investigated those fifty-two prescriptions literary, and studied them from a viewpoint of the principle and method of treatment. Results : Dongyuan's fifty-two prescriptions can be classified into eight groups from the viewpoint of the principles and methods of treatment which are composed of 'tonify the spleen and stomach & elevate the spleen Yang', 'elevate the spleen Yang & expel fire', 'elevate the spleen Yang & relieve dampness', 'promote blood flow to eliminate blood stasis', 'invigorate the spleen', 'replenish Ki & and dispel phlegm', 'purgation with drugs warm in nature', and 'the other' eight methods. Conclusions : From above, we concluded that Dongyuan considered 'the primordial energy of the spleen and stomach' as the most important when making up prescriptions, but, at the same time, he used diverse methods of treatment on the ground of differentiation of syndromes.

Exhaust facility has basically the role of flame deflector, and considering additional functions, it can be classified by noise/emission suppressor and altitude simulation facility. In this paper, principles of flame deflector, jet pump, emission suppression are presented for exhaust treatment facility. Principles of noise suppression caused by Mach wave mitigation, jet energy mitigation by water evaporation and condensation are shown. In addition, a concept of vertical exhaust treatment facility is presented applying basic principles aforementioned.

Sedative principles of the seeds of Zizyphus vulgaris var. sphinosus have been characterized as sanjoinine-A (frangufoline), nuciferine and their congeners. Also, heat treatment of sanjoinine-A-produced a more active artifact, sanjoinine-Ahl, which provides a scientific basis for heat-processing (roasting) of this Oriental medicine.

Tribological conditions and additive chemistry between frictional Interfaces were discussed in the present paper. The principles of the tribochemical surface modification were drawn on the basis of data of literatures and experiments. Results of gear tests proved experimentally that the principles would have potential applications in industry.
