운동 형태가 흰쥐의 뼈형성에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Various Types of Exercise on Bone Formation and Resorption in Rats)

  • This study examined the effect of various types of exercise on bone formation and resorption in rat. Five-week-old male Sprague-Daweley rats were randomly assigned to one of four groups with 10 animals in each; Control, Treadmill, Swimming, Resistance. The exercise regimen consisted of treadmill running at 25m/min, 1 hr per day, 5 days a week, and swimming for 1 hr per day, 5 days a week. Resistant exercise type with weight-bearing was designed to extend lower and upper extremities in order to feed the diet and water. Food intake showed no significant difference among groups but body weight gain and food efficiency were significantly increased in Control group as compared with exercise groups. Femur and tibia length and weight were higher in Control group and the density of therm tended to be higher in exercise groups than Control group, but this difference was not statistically significant. The breaking force of femur was the highest in Swimming group and tibia was the highest in Resistance group among groups, while there was no signigicant difference among the exercise groups. The calcium content of femur was significantly increased in Resistance group than the other groups. Calcium intake and urinary calcium showed no significant difference among groups, while calcium absorption and retention were significantly higher in exercise group than Control group. In conclusion, exercise training enhanced bone formation due to the positive effect on metabolism of calcium and bone which were different according to the types of exercise. Effect of Soy Protein and Exercise on Bone Mineral Density and Bone Mineral Content in Growing Male Rats

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of dietary protein and exercise on bone mineral density and bone mineral content of growing male rats. Forty male, Sprague-Dawley rats(age 21 days) were assigned to four groups that underwent 9 weeks of experimental treatment. Animals were assigned to one of two exercise treatments (treadmill running or sedentary). The exercise and nonexercise group were fed a diet containing casein or soy with rich isoflavones (3.4mg/g protein). The exercise group ran on a rodent treadmill(speed of 15m/min for 30min) three days per week during the 9-week study period. All rats were fed an experimental diet and deionized water ad libitum for 9 weeks. Total bone mineral density (BMD), total bone mineral content (BMC), total body calcium, spine BMD and BMC, and femur BMD and BMC were determined by using dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (FIXI-mus, GE Lunar Radiation Cooperation, Madison, WI, USA). The soy diet group appears to have a significantly higher total BMD/weight and total BMC/ weight, spine BMD/weight, spine BMC/weight, femur BMD/weight and femur BMC/weight compared to the casein group in nonexercise and exercise. The exercise group had significantly greater total BMD/weight and BMC/ weight, spine BMD/weight and BMC/weight, femur BMD/weight and BMC/weight compared to the nonexercise group when the protein source was casein. The exercise combined soy group had significantly greater total BMD/weight and BMC/weight, spine BMD/weight and BMC/weight, femur BMD/weight and BMC/weight, compared to the exercise combined casein group. The results indicate that exercise had a positive influence on bone mineral density and bone mineral content and soy significantly affect on bone mineral density and bone mineral content for the 9 weeks experimental period. It can be concluded that exercise combined with a soy diet is most beneficial for acquisition of spine bone mineral density in young growing male rats. This convincing evidence suggests that a change in life style such as increasing exercise and consumption of soy protein is a practical strategy for significantly reducing the incidence of osteoporosis.

강도가 점증하는 전신활동에 따른 반응시간의 변화와 정신작업의 정확도 (Variation of reaction time and accuracy of mental work with strength of whole-body activity gradually increasing)

  • 산업현장에서는 높은 강도의 육체적 작업에 병행하여 정신적 작업이 요구되는 경우가 있다. 육체적 작업 후에 피로의 회복을 위한 충분한 시간이 주어지지 않는 경우, 이 피로에 수반되는 정신적 피로에 의해 정신적 작업의 정확도는 저하된다는 보고가 있다. 그러나 본 연구에서는 높은 강도의 근육활동에 숙련된 그룹과 숙련되지 못한 그룹 모두에서 본 연구를 위한 실험조건 하에서는 오히려 육체적 활동 후의 정신적 작업의 정확도가 증가한다는 것이 밝혀졌다. 또한 물리적 자극에 대한 이들 그룹의 반응시간을 측정하여 정신작업의 정확도와의 관계를 해석하였다. 그 결과 반응시간은 높은 강도의 근육활동에 숙련된 그룹에서만 운동강도에 따라 안정적으로 점증하였고, 모든 피실험자 그룹에 대해서 정신작업의 정확도와 반응시간은 밀접한 관계에 있지 않음을 알 수 있었다.

Three-dimensional Kinematics of Knee Joint in a Complete Gait Cycle: A Comparative Study between Handball Players and Non-athletes

  • Objective: The purpose of this study is to investigate whether the athletic knee show greater rotation and translation movement than non-athletic knee during the treadmill walking with their preferred speed in a complete gait cycle. Method: Thirty young and healthy male subjects participated in the study, fifteen handball players (mean age: 19.6 ± 1.4 years old, mean weight: 85 ± 11.9 Kg, mean height: 179.8 ± 4.7) and fifteen non-athletes (mean age: 22.8 ± 1.2 years old, mean weight: 74.5 ± 8.6 Kg, mean height: 175 ± 5.9). Three-dimensional positional coordinate of lower limb during treadmill walking were analyzed. Results: There were significant differences (t (22.014)=1.585, p=0.127 in the range of internal and external rotation with mean value for handball player (M=14.4513, SD=2.3839) was higher than non-athletes (M=13.3327, SD=1.337). The magnitude of the difference in the means (mean difference=1.11867, 95% CI: -0.34489 to 2.5822) was significant. There were also significant differences (t (17.956)=1.654, p=0.116 in the max abduction and adduction with mean value for handball player (M=5.7160, SD=2.49281) was higher than non-athletes (M=4.5773, SD=0.94667). The magnitude of the difference in the means (mean difference=1.138, 95% CI: -0.30805 to 2.58539) was significant. At significance level 0.05. Conclusion: Finding of this study suggest that to understand the actual characteristic of knee motion studies have to be done in different walking and running trial at variable speed.

고지혈증 흰쥐에서 운동훈련이 혈액, 대사 변인 및 유전자 발현에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Exercise Training on Blood and Metabolic Variances, and Genes Expressions in Hyperlipidemic Rats)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effect of exercise training on blood and metabolic variances and genes expressions in hyperlipidemic rats. Three weeks-old male rats were randomly assigned into chow (n=7), high-fat diet (HF, n=7) and HF+exercise (HF+EX, n=7) groups. Exercise training consisted of the treadmill running 5 times per week during 8 weeks (0% grade, 30 min/time for first 4 weeks and 0% grade, 60 min/time the other 4weeks). The levels of triglyceride and total -cholesterol were increased in HF diet compared with chow group, and recovered to level of chow group by exercise training. Plasma glucose and insulin concentrations increased by 40 and 50%, respectively in HF diet compared with chow diet group, and these increases returned to the level of chow group by exercise training (p<.05). Body weight and abdominal fat mass were increased by high-fat diet compared with chow diet, and recovered to level of chow group by exercise training. Long-chain fatty acid oxidation rate and AMPK protein expression was not changed by HF diet, but increased by exercise training compared with high-fat diet (p<.05). UCP3 protein expression was not changed by either high-fat diet or exercise training compared with chow group. There was high correlation between plasma triglyceride and total cholesterol concentrations(p<.01). Plasma triglyceride or total cholesterol level showed correlation with following factors; plasma insulin and glucose levels, body weight, abdominal fat weight, UCP3 protein expression and long-chain fatty acid oxidation rate. These results showed that exercise training on the treadmill recovered hyperlipidemia, hyperglycemia and hyperinsulinemia induced by high-fat diet for 8 weeks. These exercise effects may be related with decreased body weight and abdominal fat mass, and increased long-chain fatty acid oxidation rate.

일회성 탈진운동과 장기간 지구성 트레이닝이 심장근의 Mn-SOD, HSP70 및 PPAR-γ 단백질 발현에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Acute Exhaustive Exercise and Long-term Endurance Exercise Training on the Protein Expression of Mn-SOD, HSP70 and PPAR-γ in the Heart of rats)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate whether two different exercises, acute exhaustive exercise and long-term endurance exercise training could affect to the expression of Mn-SOD, HSP70, and PPAR-γ protein in myocardium. The Wistar-Kyoto rats(n=24, 4 weeks) were used and randomly divided into 3 groups; endurance exercise training group (EET, n=8), acute exhaustive exercise group (AEE, n=8) or control group (CON, n=8). EET performed treadmill exercise for 12 weeks (5 days/week, 30~60 min/day). AEE exercised treadmill running (speed increased gradually to 14-26 m/min, 60 min ±10min) until exhausted when EET finished the program. Then, all the rats were sacrificed 48 hours rest at least after the last session of their own exercise program. Hearts were isolated and then the expression of Mn-SOD, HSP70, and PPAR-γ were analyzed by western blotting. One-way repeated ANOVA was used and p value under 0.05 was considered as statistical significance. The results were followed as; the expression of Mn-SOD of AEE was decreased compared with CON. However, the expression of Mn-SOD of EET was increased compared with CON. There was significant difference between AEE and EET in the expression of Mn-SOD. The expressions of HSP70 and PPAR-γ in the both AEE and EET were significantly increased compared with CON. In conclusion, acute exhaustive exercise might induce oxidative stress wheres endurance exercise training could ameliorate the oxidative conditions by increase of Mn-SOD, HSP70, and PPAR-γ. Therefore, we suggested that endurance exercise training could enhance the complementary antioxidant system and improve to prevent apoptosis. Further, a long-term moderat aerobic exercise program might play a important role in mitochondrial biogenesis in the heart.

흰쥐에서 고혈당 및 고지질혈증이 운동 중 골격근 당원이용에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Hyperglycemia and Hyperlipidemia on Muscle Glycogen Utilization during Exercise in Rats)

  • 고혈당과 고지질혈증이 운동 중 골격근의 당원절약효과가 있는지 또는 골격근섬유의 특생에 따른 차이가 있는지를 규명하기 위해서 흰쥐(Sprague Dawley)를 대상으로 실험한 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 먼저 고혈당에 의한 결과는 하지근 중 족척근의 운동부하 45분군의 당원농도가 고혈당군에서 대조군의 그것보다 약 13% 높아서 고혈당에 의한 족척근의 당원절약효과를 관찰할 수 있었으며 또한 백색 비복근의 운동부하 45분군에서 절약효과를 관찰할 수 있었다. 그러나 서근인 가자미근과 서근의 특성이 강한 적색 비복근에서는 모든 실험군에서 5-13%의 절약경향이 있었다. 이때 고혈당군의 혈당농도는 운동부하 전, 운동부하 30 및 45분후에 각각 $145.7{\pm}7.4$, $164{\pm}6.2$$156{\pm}6.8mg/dL$로서 대조각군의 혈당농도보다 유익하게 높았다. 고지질혈증은 복강내 heparin투여와 10% 인트라리포즈를 경구 투여하여 유도하였으며 대조군, 대조운동부하군 및 고지질혈증군에서 유리지방산 농도(uEq/L)가 $247{\pm}41.1$, $260{\pm}58.6$$444{\pm}23.1$로서 고지질혈증군이 다른 양 군보다 유의하게 높았다. 고지질혈증에 의한 근당원절약효과가 있는지 여부를 관찰한 결과 가자미근, 적색 비복근 및 족척근 등에서 통계적으로 유의한 절약효과를 관찰할 수 없었으나 백색 비복근에서 절약의 경향을 보였다. 이상의 결과로 보아 흰쥐에서 비교적 단시간의 운동부하 중 평균 155mg/dL의 고혈당을 유지하였을 때 족척근과 백색 비복근에서 근 당원이 절약되었으며 고지질혈증에 의해서는 근당원의 절약효과가 없었다. 또한 속근섬유의 근육에서 고혈당에 의한 당원절약효과가 서근보다 뚜렷하였다.

규칙적인 운동부하가 Streptozotocin 투여 흰쥐 골격근의 당섭취와 당내성에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Regular Physical Exercise on Glucose Uptake in Soleus and Intravenous Glucose Tolerance in Streptoztocin Diabetic Rats)

  • STZ투여 전후 2주씩 4주간의 규칙적인 운동 부하가 당뇨흰쥐의 골격근 당섭취와 당내성에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위하여 Sprague-Dawley종 수컷 흰쥐를 사용하여 soleus근의 당섭취를 시험관에서 $^3H$-3-O-methyl-glucose의 섭취로 추적하였으며 정맥으로 당을 부하 (0.5g/kg BW)하여 당내성을 평가한 본 실험의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. STZ의 투여로 대조군에 비하여 공복시 혈당과 유리지방산이 증가하고 인슐린 농도, soleus근의 당섭취, 인슐린에 대한 예민도와 반응도, 및 근 glycogen농도는 감소하였으며 내당능이 저하하였다. STZ 투여 흰쥐에서 4주간의 규칙적인 운동으로 인한 변화로 안정군에 비하여 공복시 혈당이 감소하고 soleus근의 당섭취와 인슐린에 대한 반응도 및 근glycogen 의 농도가 증가하였으며 유리지방산의 농도가 감소하는 경향을 보였다. 그러나 인슐린 농도는 차이가 없었으며 당내성은 개선되지 않았다. 위의 결과로 보아 4주간의 운동은 STZ 투여후 당뇨 흰쥐 발생율에는 영향을 미치지 못하였으나 골격근의 인슐린 반응도는 향상시켰으며 공복시 혈당도 감소시키는 효과를 나타내었다. 그러나 저하된 내당능은 골격근의 인슐린 반응도가 향상되었음에도 불구하고 개선되지않은 것으로 사료된다.

영양과 훈련이 흰쥐의 운동지구력과 혈청성분에 미치는 효과;Selenium을 첨가한 고지방식이를 중심으로 (Effect of Nutrition and Exercise Training on the Endurance and the Serum Lipid Components in Rats;Selenium Added High Fat Diet)

  • The effects of exercise and selenium added high fat diet on edurance and serum lipid components were studied in rats. A total of 72 male Sprague-Dawley ($150{\pm}35g$, body weight) were divided into trained group and untrained group and were bred for 7 weeks. Each group had 6 different dietary subgroups; namely, basal diet, 20% shortening and 20% soybean oil subgroup and selenium (0.01mg%) added each subgroups. Exercises of 8-min treadmill running and 10-min swimming were given to the trained group every other day during the experimental period while only treadmill running was given to the untrained group during the last week. The amounts of food intake, changes in body weight and endurance were determined once a week and serum lipid components were measured before and after experimental period. Following are the results obtained : 1) The untrained group took a slightly larger amount of food than that in the trained group. The food efficiency is, however, higher in the trained group. Body weight increased more in untrained group, while high fat diet resulted in greater increment in body weight than that in normal diet groups. 2) The trained group showed remarkably longer endurance than the untrained group and selenium added high fat diet enhanced the effect. 3) The trained group showed lower blood level of T-chol., TG and TG/PL than the untrained group. All the other blood values of HDL-chol., PL, MDL-chol./T-chol., HDL/LDL and A/G ratio were higher in trained group. 4) Soybean oil added dietary groups exibited lower blood levels of T-chol., TG, TG/PL and A/G than those in shortening added dietary groups. On the contrary, the former groups showed higher blood HDL-chol., PL., HDL, HDL-chol. and HDL/LDL ratio than those of soybean oil added dietary groups. 5) $LDH_5$ was the most abundant one among serum LDH isozymes. The electrophoretic pattern of serum LDH isozymes was not changed by exercise training and selenium added high fat diet. 6) Exercise training lowered blood GOT and TBA. These effects were enhanced by soybean oil added diets. From the above results it was concluded that a regular and long term exercise training as well as a small amount of selenium added high fat diet result in reduction of body weight and TBA and improve dietary efficiency and physical endurance in rats.

여자 중 . 고등 학생의 최대 산소 섭취량 (Maximal Oxygen Uptake in the Secondary School Girls)

  • Maximal oxygen uptake was measured in thirty-three secondary school girls by means of the treadmill test. Eighteen middle school girls aged 14.0 (range: $13.0{\sim}15.9$) years and fifteen high school girls aged 16.9 (range: $16.0{\sim}18.0$) years served as subjects. Maximal treadmill run lasted for 2 minutes and 20 seconds and the expired air was collected in a Douglas bag through a J-valve during the last one minute period. In general, absolute values of various measurements in the high school girls were greater than those of the middle school girls. When values were expressed on the body weight or lean body weight basis, however, work capacity of middle school girls was superior to that of the high school girls. The detailed results are as follows: 1. In middle school girls maximal oxygen uptake was 1.78 l/min., 47.4 ml/kg body weight, 12.3 ml/cm body height, and 61.7ml/kg lean body mass. In high school girls maximal oxygen uptake was 1.93 l/min., 39.7ml/kg body weight, 12.3 ml/cm body height, and 51.2 ml/kg LBM. Although the absolute value of maximal oxygen uptake was greater in high school girls than in middle school girls, values expressed on the body weight basis showed the reverse trend, namely, values of the middle school girls was greater than those of the high school girls. 2. The ratio of maximal to resting oxygen uptake was 8.8 in the middle school girls and was 10.2 in the high school girls. 3. Maximal pulmonary ventilation in the middle school girls was 55.3 l/min. and 66.1 l/min. in the high school girls. The ratio of maximal to resting pulmonary ventilation was 10.2 in the middle school girls and 10.1 in the high school girls. 4. The correlation between body weight and maximal oxygen uptake was relatively high, namely, r=0.79 both in middle and high school girls. The correlation coefficient between body weight and maximal pulmonary ventilation was a little less that of between maximal oxygen uptake and showed a value of r=0.60 both in middle and high school girls. The lean body mass was a poor reference of maximal oxygen uptake or maximal pulmonary ventilation as compared to body weight. The correlation between maximal oxygen uptake and maximal pulmonary ventilation was high and the coefficient of correlation in middle school girls was 0.927 and in high school girls it was 0.856. 5. Maximal ventilation equivalent was 30.9 liters in middle school girls and 33.9 liters in high school girls. This indicated that no hyperventilation was induced during the maximal of oxygen uptake exercise period as related to the maximal oxygen uptake. 6. Heart rate reached to the peak value within 1.5 minutes after beginning of maximal oxygen uptake run and remained at the same peak plateau level throughout the entire running period. Heart rate decreased steeply on cessation of running and subsided slowly thereafter. The maximal heart rate was 184 beat/min. in middle school girls and 189 beat/min. in high school girls. 7. Maximal oxygen pulse was 9.4 in middle school girls and 9.9 ml/beat in high school girls.
