A Study on the Design of Upward and Downward Traverse Units in an Automatic Object Changer Unit to Establish a Flexible Production System (Part 1) (유연생산 시스템 구축을 위한 공작물 자동교환 유닛의 상하 이송 기구 설계에 관한 연구(파트 1))

  • The objective of this study is to develop an automatic object changer unit to improve processing problems existed in the conventional horizontal machining center. In order to perform this objective, a upward and downward traverse unit in which a unit that consists of a motor and reducer, chain and sprocket wheel, and upper and lower base employed in an automatic object changer unit performs sliding contact motion in a frame was designed. To achieve this design, constraint conditions for the upward and downward traverse unit first designed. Then, an operation mechanism was designed and that was introduced as a sum of kinetic energy for the sprocket wheel and upper and lower base based on the moment of inertia, which is the kinetic energy of the converted upward and downward traverse unit in the side of the reducer. In addition, The work required to rotate the converted upward and downward traverse unit in the side of the reducer by one revolution can be calculated using the sum of work that is required in the sprocket wheel and upper and lower base that is a part of the upward and downward traverse unit. Furthermore, the converted equation of motion in the side of the motor can be introduced using the equation of motion using the converted upward and downward traverse unit in the side of the motor. Then, Then, a proper motor can be determined using predetermined specifications employed in the motor and several parameters in the upward and downward traverse unit in order to verify such predetermined specifications. Also, a design of a horizontal traverse unit that performs sliding motion on a upward and downward traverse unit and simulation that verifies the results of this design are required as a future study.

  • The objective of this study is to develop an automatic object changer unit to improve processing problems existed in the conventional horizontal machining center. To achieve this goal, this study designed a horizontal transfer as the second project continued to the first project that designed a upward and downward traverse unit. A horizontal traverse unit shows a symmetric structure and consists of frame, which consists of four unit tools, motor and reducer, which are fixed at a frame, operation unit with pinions, first traverse unit, and second traverse unit. Constraint conditions based on the operation mechanism with these elements were configured and obtained following results after modeling a model for a traverse motor. In the kinematic expression of sliding motion with one degree of freedom, the sliding motion is constrained. Also, the rack 3 installed at a frame is used to configure possible kinematic constraint conditions of the rack 2 according to the rolling motion of the pinion 2 in the first traverse unit. In addition, the moment of inertia that is a type of kinetic energy in a converted horizontal traverse unit in the side of the reducer can be applied to introduce the moment of inertia of a converted horizontal traverse unit in the side of the reducer by using the sum of kinetic energy in the rack and pinion, which is a part of the horizontal traverse unit. Also, the equation of motion of the converted upward and downward traverse unit in the side of the motor using the equation of motion of the motor. Furthermore, the horizontal traverse unit predetermines the mass of the first and second traverse unit and applied load including the radius and reduction ratio of the pitch circle in the pinion 1 and applied load to the rack 2. Then, a proper motor can be determined using several parameters in the upward and downward traverse unit in order to verify such predetermined specifications. In future studies later this study, a simulation that verifies the results of the previous two stages of studies using a finite element method.

In order to perform this objective, an upward and downward traverse unit was designed. This unit consists of a motor, reducer, chain and sprocket wheel, and an upper and lower base. This automatic object changer unit performs a sliding contact motion in a purpose built and designed frame. Constraint conditions for the upward and downward traverse unit were first designed. Then, an operation mechanism was designed and introduced as the sum of the kinetic energy for the sprocket wheel and the upper and lower base and which was based on the moment of inertia, which is the kinetic energy of the converted upward and downward traverse unit in the side of the reducer. The paper covers the design of th e Automatic Pallet Changer for th e machining center.

  • In this paper, we propose a schedulatility analysis method for real-time programs. Several approaches to anlayzing schedulability have been developed, but since these approaches use a fixed priority scheduling method and/or traverse all possible state spaces, there take place exponential time and space complexity of these methods, Therefore it is necessary to reduce the state space and detect schedulability at earlier time. Our schedulability analysis method uses a minimum unit time taken to terminate synchronization action, a minimum unit time taken to terminate actions after synchronization, and a deadline of processes to detect unschedulability at earlier time and dynamic scheduling scheme to reduce state space. We conclude that our method can detected unschedulability earlier 50 percent unit time than Fredette's method.

Effect of Air Void System of High Strength Concrete on Freezing and Thawing Resistance (고강도콘크리트의 동결융해저항에 미치는 기포조직의 영향)

  • It is generally known that the frost-resistance of concrete is much affected by the air content in concrete and by the air void system or air distribution. And also the frost-resistance is believed to vary with the stre¬ngth of concrete. This article is prepared to describe, based on experiment, the effect of the air content and the air void system, particularly the effect of the spacing factor, on the freeze-thaw resistance of the high strength conc¬rete. For this purpose, I first worked on Non-AE concrete to make its compressive strength set about 400 to 500 kg/em'. However, the freeze-thaw test on the Non-AE concrete resulted in low durability factor, I.e., 10-2~0%. Thus to enhance the durability, another supplementary step was needed. I used AE admixture. which enhanced durability by changing the air content from 2% to 12%. The frost-thaw test was then performed 500 cycles on the 20 kind of concrete mixtures which differ in unit cement content and in water-cement ratio.   • This paper introduces the developed geometry PIG (Pipeline Inspection Gauge), one of several ILI (In-Line Inspection) tools, which provide a full picture of the pipeline from only single pass, and has compact size of the electronic device with not only low power consumption but also rapid response of sensors such as calipers, IMU and odometer. This tool is equipped with the several sensor systems. Caliper sensors measure the pipeline internal diameter, ovality and dent size and shape with high accuracy. The IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) measures the precise trajectory of the PIG during its traverse of the pipeline. The IMU also provide three-dimensional coordination in space from measurement of inertial acceleration and angular rate. Three odometers mounted on the PIG body provide the distance moved along the line and instantaneous velocity during the PIG run. The datum measured by the sensor systems are stored in on-board solid state memory and magnetic tape devices. There is an electromagnetic transmitter at the back end of the tool, the transmitter enables the inspection operators to keep tracking the tool while it travels through the pipeline. An experiment was fulfilled in pull-rig facility and was adopted from Incheon LT (LNG Terminal) to Namdong GS (Governor Station) line, 13 km length.

Comparison of cutting performance of an AWJ with several types of abrasives (Water jet 절단에서의 연마재 종류별 성능 비교 시험)

  • Linear cutting tests on granite were conducted to evaluated the cutting performance of abrasive water jet(AWJ) using several types of abrasives. The abrasives used in the tests were grarnet, alumimum oxide, and silicon carbide. And one type of granite which is comercially known as "KeuchangSuk" was used as workpiece throughout the tests. The results from the tests were described in terms of cutting depth and abrasive productivity. Authors tried to confirm the effects of the operational parameters of abrasive mass flow rate, water pressure, and traverse speed of nozzle on cutting depth and presented almost all the data obtained in the tests. Abrasive productivity can be defined as the area of kerf wall cut by unit weight of abrasive and is an important factor to evaluated the cutting ability of abrasive and assess the cost effectiveness of an AWJ system. In the tests the maximum abrasive productivities of garnet, alumina, and silicon carbide were about 0.21, 0.24, and 0.20 $\textrm{cm}^2$ respectively under similar operational conditions.onditions.

  • The testing philosophy and control schemes are investigated and applied to construct the Automatic Microwave Leakage Inspection System (AMLIS) . AMLIS is consists of three major parts such as Material Handling Mechanism, Fine Positioning Mechanism and Scanning Mechanism. The material Handling unit is designed to perform loading and unloading microwave oven onto the testing point by pneumatic cylinder and vacuum pump. The Fine positioning part includes X-Y-.THETA. table and distance sensing equipment. The scanning part is composed of five SCARA robots, which traverse X-Y-Z catesian coordinates respectively. The leakage testing probes are placed at the end of this each robot then the path and speed are both controlled via microprocessors. A performance test of this system combined with electric parts and software is done and the basic major function of system are accomplished.

  • The study on the measurement method of the aerodynamic performance of a turbo compressor was conducted. It is well known that the performance and the efficiency of the compressor can be calculated from the temperature and pressure distribution in each stage of the compressor. In the past Pitot tubes and thermocouples were used to measure pressure and temperature respectively, and recently pressure and temperature rake is used in order to decrease the measuring time and the number of measurement. The miniature total pressure rake which is available in the compressor with a small axial gap is designed and is under development.

A Study on Jet Characteristic using a Coanda Effect in a Constant Expansion Rate Nozzle (코안다 효과를 이용한 제트 특성에 관한 연구)

  • The jet structure issuing from a conventional convergent nozzle of variable expansion rate is compared with the result from the nozzle of a constant expansion rate using a normal type annular slit. In experiments, to investigate the jet characteristics between the two cases of jet, the mean velocity of nozzle exit is fixed to be 90m/s, the pressures along the jet axis and radial directions are measured by a scanning valve system moving with 3-axis auto-traverse unit, and the velocity distribution obtained by calculation from the measured static and total pressures is compared. Also to obtain the highly stable and convergence jets, it is turned out that the flow through a nozzle of constant expansion rate using the Coanda effect with an annular slit is the most preferable than that case through variable expansion rate nozzle. Furthermore, it is found that the pressure drop along the nozzle for the constant expansion rate nozzle is small relatively against to the case of variable expansion rate nozzle.
