  • In this study, the dynamic route choice behavior of driver is assumed to be affected by the current conditions of traffic environments as well as the Past traffic environments and activities. The repeated survey of multi-timed to owner drove in Chon-ju city by the virtual traffic information system was performed by the stated preference method. And the LISREL(An analysis of linear structural relationship) model was used. As the results. the variable Parameter and t-value of travel time information on applied model was high and their results have an effect greatly to the route choice. After all, the route choice was negative from Kirin-ro, which Penetrates the downtown, and positive from Chunbyun-ro which was a roundabout way was confirmed. Estimated result of the reasonability, the highest suitable model was ode which applied the concept of serial correlation and stated dependence and was shown applying rightfulness to dynamic model. As the serial correlation and stated dependence parameter value, when time interval was large, parameter value was small and the serial correlation and stated dependence was in inverse proportion ratio to the time interval.

  • This paper presents an investigation result that is made to determine dominant influencing factors and their specific impacts on motorist detour makings for VMS placements on freeway. This was necessary to provide engineers with a tool for evaluating VMS cost-effectiveness and its feasibility. This research found that additional travel time delay is the most influential variable in determining motorist detour makings. Also, more than 70% freeway motorists recognize the adjacent national roads as their detour routes, and both AADT and the distance to the entering point of the detour path are found to be dominating factors. Motorist detour ratio model by VMS placement on freeway is developed based on the Stated Preference. In model validation, actual detour making behaviors observed by the Revealed Preference values verify the detour ratio on the Stated Preference. These research findings should be useful for cost-effective placements of VMS on freeway, and it is recommended that the results be tested by practicing engineers in the ITS sector.

  • Traffic congestion is a source of significant economic and social costs in urban areas. Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) are a promising means to help alleviate congestion by utilizing advanced sensing, computing, and communication technologies. This paper proposes and investigates a basic and advanced ITS framework Advanced Traveler Information System (ATIS) using wireless Vehicle to Roadside (Centralized ATIS model: CA model) and Vehicle to Vehicle (DeCentralized ATIS model: DCA model) communication and assuming an ideal communication environment in the typical $6{\times}6$ urban grid traffic network. Results of this study indicate that an ATIS using wireless communication can save travel time given varying combinations of system characteristics: traffic flow, communication radio range, and penetration ratio. Also, all tested metrics of the CA and DCA models indicate that the system performance of both models is almost identical regardless of varying traffic demand and penetration ratios. Therefore, DCA model can be a reasonable alternative to the fixed infrastructure based ATIS model (CA model).

  • To conserve the population of a hesperiid butterfly, Leptalina unicolor, inhabiting the protected areas of Jaeyaksan, we provide ecological information on their behavior and propose habitat conservation measures, such as the creation of alternative habitats based on comprehensive information. The behavioral study used a method of re-capture after releasing the butterfly with enamel marks on the wings. Adult behaviors were shown in four patterns: flying, settling on a plant, nectar absorption, and water absorption. Both males and females had the highest proportion of flight movement overall; however, males had a slightly higher proportion of flight movement. As for duration, females spent more time settling on plants to select spawning sites, and males seemed to take a longer time for water absorption activities, to absorb minerals needed to form the spermatophore. The average travel distance of butterflies was 27.5 m for females and 46.7 m for males, with daily activity ranges from 11.2 m to 43.8 m, and 21.4 to 57.6 m, respectively. The most important condition to preserve the habitat of Leptalina unicolor is to maintain the community of Miscanthus sinensis, a food plant. Additionally, because this butterfly has a high rate of water absorption activities, wetlands should be maintained.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the purchase behavior, the level of shopping satisfaction for inbound Chinese tourists buying fashion products and the analysis of the influence of fashion product purchase criteria and effects of store attributes toward shopping satisfaction in Korea. Subjects were selected through convenient sampling technique in Incheon International Airport. A self-administered questionnaire was developed in Chinese by translation and back-translation method. Finally, 284 questionnaire out of 420 were used for data analysis. To analyze data, factor analysis, correlation analysis, regression analysis, etc. were carried out. A used statistical package was PASW 18.0. The analysis results were as follows. First, most of the repondents were women in 20s and 30s, who were purchasing fashion products more than other during the period of travel. Second, the product purchase criteria were identified as 'practicality', 'design and quality', 'memorabilia' and 'hallyu'. As the analysis results, shopping satisfaction was influenced by 'design and quality' and 'hallyu'. Thirdly, the effects of store attributes were identified as 'product', 'environment' and 'employees'. and customer's shopping satisfaction was influenced by all of those. By the end of this paper, For the purpose of achieving more competitive fashion products, the 4P marketing strategies targeting Chinese tourists were discussed based on the results.

  • The real-time traffic information is considered to be the system to alleviate traffic congestion. An effective traffic information will help drivers make efficient travel decision, and network performance will be improved. To make efficient strategy of providing information, the analyst should quantify reduced congestion by the media traffic informations. Many other route diversion models considered only media-informations as information sources and ignored the impact of on-site informations such as visible delays and average speeds, which affect drivers' route diversion decision in practice. In those models, the effect of on-site informations could be treated to be the effect of media informations, and the effects of media informations would be over-estimated. The proposed model including the impact of on-site information can estimate the effect of media-informations. The results are expected to be applied to the analysis of traffic management policy such as ITS.

  • It has become important to have some proper guidelines of how to provide public transport information services in response to the rapid IT developments and the wide spread of public information services. The current study takes a contextual approach to the analysis of public transportation information use under a dynamic decision situation, complementing the conventional cross-sectional approaches. Using the CHAID of decision tree induction based on decision table formalism applied to the survey data of activity travel and information use, the study found that the information type and medium choices are strongly affected by the decision contexts in addition to the individuals' socio-demographic characteristics. The results suggest an important implication to the market segmentation of information services for public transportation.

  • New CCD BVR light curves of BD And are presented. Our light curves with nearly equal depths for both primary and secondary eclipses show well-defined photometric waves outside eclipse for all of BVR bandpasses. The orbital period is greatly revised as $0.^d92580519$ which is twice longer than that known previously. Sixteen timings from our observations and thirteen ones from the SuperWASP measurements were calculated. All available timings over 76 years, including ours, were analyzed to figure out the dynamical behavior of the system. It was found that the recent CCD O-C residuals varied in a cyclical way with a period of $9.^y18$ and a semi-amplitude of $0.^d0046$. The secondary period of $9.^y18$ is the most shortest one among those which have been ever found in the short period RS CVn binary stars. The periodic variation most likely arises from the light-travel time effect due to a low-mass ($m_3{\sim}0.88\;M_{\odot}$) tertiary companion moving in an orbit with an large eccentricity ($e_3$=0.70) and a low inclination ($i_3{\sim}28^{\circ}$). The Applegate mechanism could not operate properly in both components because the model parameters require too much large luminosity changes of ${\Delta}L/L_{p,s}$ > 10. The new light curves were synthesized using the 2003 version of Wilson-Divinney code. It was found useful to model two huge spots on the surface of the hotter star and a third-light in order to minimize the residuals from the observations. Astronomical basic parameters were deduced from our photometric solution.

  • In this study, the author suggests utilizing unsold and unused land as temporary commercial parking lots as a way to raise funds for active public transport use. In addition, reasonable parking fee scheme is suggested by estimating marginal parking fee and marginal parking distance for the commercial parking lots based on the CVM. The author conducts a survey to investigate citizens' opinion on utilizing unsold and unused land in the urban development project area as temporary commercial transport facilities such as parking lots. Based on survey outcome, travel behavior and requirements are analyzed and marginal parking fee and marginal parking distance are estimated through the Contingent Valuation Method (CVM). The results are as follows: in the single-bounded dichotomous choice model, people are willing to pay 216 KRW for 165m in average for 10 minutes and their willingness to pay goes down against reaching distance to the parking lots from 365 KRW for 50m, 295 KRW for 100m, 173 KRW for 200m, and 51 KRW for 300m; in the double-bounded dichotomous choice model, people are willing to pay 285 KRW for 165m in average for 10 minutes and their willingness to pay goes down as well against reaching distance to the parking lots from 310 KRW for 50m, 297 KRW for 100m, 272 KRW for 200m and 248 KRW for 300m. It is clearly appeared that people's willingness to pay goes higher as distance to reach the parking lots goes shorter.

  • A design method of fuzzy modeling is presented for the model identification of route choice of traffic problems. The proposed fuzzy modeling implements system structure and parameter identification in the eficient form of""IF..., THEN-.."", using the theories of optimization theory, linguistic fuzzy implication rules. Three kinds ofmethod for fuzzy modeling presented in this paper include simplified inference (type I), linear inference (type 21,and proposed modified-linear inference (type 3). The fuzzy inference method are utilized to develop the routechoice model in terms of accurate estimation and precise description of human travel behavior. In order to identifypremise structure and parameter of fuzzy implication rules, improved complex method is used and the least squaremethod is utilized for the identification of optimum consequence parameters. Data for route choice of trafficproblems are used to evaluate the performance of the proposed fuzzy modeling. The results show that the proposedmethod can produce the fuzzy model with higher accuracy than previous other studies -BL(binary logic) model,B(production system) model, FL(fuzzy logic) model, NN(neura1 network) model, and FNNs (fuzzy-neuralnetworks) model -.fuzzy-neural networks) model -.
