Solution-processed metal-oxide semiconductors have been considered as the next generation semiconducting materials for transparent and flexible electronics due to their high electrical performance. Moreover, since the oxide semiconductors show high sensitivity to light illumination and possess persistent photoconductivity (PPC), these properties can be utilized in realizing optical memory devices, which can transport information much faster than the electrons. In previous works, metal-oxide semiconductors are utilized as a memory device by using the light (i.e. illumination does the "writing", no-gate bias recovery the "reading" operations) [1]. The key issues for realizing the optical memory devices is to have high photoconductivity and a long life time of free electrons in the oxide semiconductors. However, mono-layered indium-zinc-oxide (IZO) and mono-layered indium-gallium-zinc-oxide (IGZO) have limited photoconductivity and relaxation time of 570 nA, 122 sec, 190 nA and 53 sec, respectively. Here, we boosted up the photoconductivity and relaxation time using a double-layered IZO/IGZO active layer structure. Solution-processed IZO (top) and IGZO (bottom) layers are prepared on a Si/SiO2 wafer and we utilized the conventional thermal annealing method. To investigate the photoconductivity and relaxation time, we exposed 9 mW/cm2 intensity light for 30 sec and the decaying behaviors were evaluated. It was found that the double-layered IZO/IGZO showed high photoconductivity and relaxation time of 28 uA and 1048 sec.
GZO single layer, Ni buffered GZO(GZO/Ni), Ni intermediated GZO (GZO/Ni/GZO) and Ni capped GZO (Ni/GZO) films were prepared on poly-carbonate (PC) substrates by RF and DC magnetron sputtering without intentional substrate heating and then the influence of the Ni (2 nm thick) thin film on the optical, electrical and structural properties of GZO films were investigated. As deposited GZO single layer films show the optical transmittance of 81.3% in the visible wavelength region and a resistivity of $1.0{\times}10^{-2}{\Omega}cm$, while GZO/Ni/GZO trilayer films show a lower resistivity of $6.4{\times}10^{-4}{\Omega}cm$ and an optical transmittance of 74.5% in this study. Based on the figure of merit, it can be concluded that the intermediated Ni thin film effectively enhances the opto-electrical performance of GZO films for use as transparent conducting oxides in flexible display applications.
Transparent Sn-doped $In_2O_3$ (ITO) single-layer and ITO/Au/ITO multilayer films were deposited on glass substrates by reactive magnetron sputtering to compare the properties of the films. They were then annealed in a vacuum of $1{\times}10^{-2}\;Pa$ at temperatures ranging from 150 to $450^{\circ}C$ for 20 min to determine the effect of the annealing temperature on the properties of the films. As-deposited 100 nm thick ITO films exhibit a sheet resistance of $130{\Omega}/{\square}$ and optical transmittance of 77% at a wavelength length of 550 nm. By inserting a 5 nm-thick Au layer in ITO/metal/ITO (IMI) films, the sheet resistance was decreased to as low as $20{\Omega}/{\square}$ and the optical transmittance was decreased to as little as 73% at 550 nm. Post-deposition annealing of ITO/Au/ITO films led to considerably lower electrical resistivity and higher optical transparency. In the Xray diffraction pattern, as-deposited ITO films did not show any diffraction peak, whereas as-deposited ITO/ Au/ITO films have Au (222) and $In_2O_3$ (110) crystal planes. When the annealing temperature reached the 150 - $450^{\circ}C$ range, the both diffraction peak intensities increased significantly. A sheet resistance of $8{\Omega}/{\square}$ and an optical transmittance of 82% were obtained from the ITO/Au/ITO films annealed at $450^{\circ}C$.

Application of organic materials with low cost, easy fabrication and advantages of flexible device are increasing attention by research work. Recently, one of them, organic solar cells were rapidly increased efficiency with regioregular poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) and [6,6]-phenyl-C61-butyricacidmethylester (PCBM) used typical material. To increased efficiency of organic solar cell has tried control of domain of PCBM and crystallite of P3HT by thermal annealing and solvent vapor annealing. [4-6] In those annealing effects, be made inefficiently efficiency, which is increased fill factor (FF), and current density by phase-separated morphology with blended P3HT and PCBM. In addition, increased conductivity by modified hole transfer layer (HTL) such as Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS), increased both optical and conducting effect by titanium oxide (TiOx), and changed cathode material for control work function were increased efficiency of Organic solar cell. In this study, we had described effect of organic photovoltaics by conductivity of interlayer such as PEDOT:PSS and TCO (Transparent conducting oxide) such as ITO, which is used P3HT and PCBM. And, we have measured with exactly defined shadow mask to study effect of solar cell efficiency according to conductivity of hole transfer layer.
We investigated the properties of inorganic diatomic films like silicon oxide ($SiO_2$) and zinc oxide (ZnO) and their composite films are packed as a passivation layer around Ca cells on glass substrates by using an electron-beam evaporation technique and rf-magnetron sputtering method. When these Ca cells are exposed to an ambient atmosphere, the water vapor penetrating through the passivation layers is adsorbed in the Ca cells, resulting in a gradual progress of transparency in the Ca cells, which can be represented by changes of the optical transmittance in the visible range. Compared with the saturation times for the Ca cells to become completely transparent in the atmosphere, the protection effects against permeation of water vapor are estimated for various passivation films. The thin composite films consist of$SiO_2$ and ZnO are found to show a superior protection effect from water vapor permeation compared with diatomic inorganic films like $SiO_2$ and ZnO. Also, this inorganic thin composite films are also found that their protection effect against permeation of water vapor can be significantly enhanced by choosing their suitable composition ratio and deposition method, in addition, the main factors affecting the permeation of water vapor through the oxide films are found to be the polarizability and the packing density.
An OLED(Organic Light-Emitting Diode) device based on the emissive electroluminescent layer a film of organic materials. OLED is used for many electronic devices such as TV, mobile phones, handheld games consoles. ULVAC's mass production systems are indispensable to the manufacturing of OLED device. ULVAC is a manufacturer and worldwide supplier of equipment and vacuum systems for the OLED, LCD, Semiconductor, Electronics, Optical device and related high technology industries. The SMD Series are single-substrate sputtering systems for deposition of films such as metal films and TCO (Transparent Conductive Oxide) films. ULVAC has delivered a large number of these systems not only Organic Evaporating systems but also LTPS CVD systems. The most important technology of thin-film encapsulation (TFE) is preventing moisture($H_2O$) and oxygen permeation into flexible OLED devices. As a polymer substrate does not offer the same barrier performance as glass substrate, the TFE should be developed on both the bottom and top side of the device layers for sufficient lifetimes. This report provides a review of promising thin-film barrier technologies as well as the WVTR(Water Vapor Transmission Rate) properties. Multilayer thin-film deposition technology of organic and inorganic layer is very effective method for increasing barrier performance of OLED device. Gases and water in the organic evaporating system is having a strong influence as impurities to OLED device. CRYO pump is one of the very useful vacuum components to reduce above impurities. There for CRYO pump is faster than conventional TMP exhaust velocity of gases and water. So, we suggest new method to make a good vacuum condition which is CRYO Trap addition on OLED evaporator. Alignment accuracy is one of the key technologies to perform high resolution OLED device. In order to reduce vibration characteristic of CRYO pump, ULVAC has developed low vibration CRYO pumps to achieve high resolution alignment performance between Metal mask and substrate. This report also includes ULVAC's approach for these issues.

We investigated characteristics of ITO/Ag-Pd-Cu (APC)/ITO multilayer electrodes prepared by direct current magnetron sputtering for use as an anode in organic solar cells (OSCs). To optimize electrical properties of ITO/APC/ITO multilayer, we fabricated the ITO/APC/ITO multilayer at a fixed ITO thickness of 30 nm as a function of APC thickness. Compare to the surface of Ag layer on ITO, the APC had a smooth surface morphology. At optimized APC thickness of 12 nm, the ITO/APC/ITO multilayer exhibited a sheet resistance of $6{\Omega}/square$ and optical transmittance of 84.15% at a wavelength of 550 nm which is comparable to conventional ITO/Ag/ITO multilayer. However, the APC-based ITO multilayer showed a higher average transmittance in a visible region than the Ag-based ITO multilayer. The higher average transmittance of ITO/APC/ITO multilayer indicated the multilayer is suitable anode for organic solar cells with P3HT:PCBM active layer. OSCs fabricated on the optimized ITO/ACP/ITO multilayer exhibited a better performance with a fill factor of 64.815%, a short circuit current of $8.107mA/cm^2$, an open circuit voltage of 0.59 V, and power conversion efficiency (3.101%) than OSC with ITO/Ag/ITO multilayer (2.8%).
Transparent conducting oxides (TCOs) used in the antireflection layer and current spreading layer of heterojunction solar cells should have excellent optical and electrical properties. Furthermore, TCOs need a high work function over 5.2 eV to prevent the effect of emitter band-bending caused by the difference in work function between emitter and TCOs. Sn-doped $In_2O_3$ (ITO) film is a highly promising material as a TCO due to its excellent optical and electrical properties. However, ITO films have a low work function of about 4.8 eV. This low work function of ITO films leads to deterioration of the conversion efficiency of solar cells. In this work, ITO films with various Zn contents of 0, 6.9, 12.7, 28.8, and 36.6 at.% were fabricated by a co-sputtering method using ITO and AZO targets at room temperature. The optical and electrical properties of Zn-doped ITO thin films were analyzed. Then, silicon heterojunction solar cells with these films were fabricated. The 12.7 at% Zn-doped ITO films show the highest hall mobility of 35.71 $cm^2$/Vsec. With increasing Zn content over 12.7, the hall mobility decreases. Although a small addition of Zn content increased the work function, further addition of Zn content over 12.7 at.% led to decreasing electrical properties because of the decrease in the carrier concentration and hall mobility. Silicon heterojunction solar cells with 12.7 at% Zn-doped ITO thin films showed the highest conversion efficiency of 15.8%.
