Passivation for flexible organic light emitting diodes using parylene

  • In this study, we tested parylene as the passivation layer for flexible organic light emitting diodes (FOLEDs).Parylene as passivtion layer has several advantages which are good optical transparent and low moisture penetration. For more an effective passivation of FOLEDs, we suggest hybrid passivation layer with parylene and silicon oxide. We compared electrical properties and stability of the device with and without passivation layer. The lifetime of FOLED with hybrid passivation layer was increased over three times than that of non-passivated of FOLED.

전도성 고분자를 이용한 ARAS 코팅 (ARAS coating with a conducting polymer)

  • A method for designing antireflection (AR) and antistatic (AS) films by the use of conducting polymer as an electrically conductive transparent layer is proposed. The conducting AR film is composed of four-layer with alternating high and low refractive index layer: silicon dioxide (n=1.44) and titanium dioxide (n=2.02) prepared at low temperature by sol-gel method are used as the low and high refractive index layer, respectively. The 3,4-polyethylenedioxythiophene (PEDOT) which has the sheet resistance of 10$^4$$\Omega$/$\square$ is used as a conductive layer. Optical constant of ARAS film was measured by the spectroscopic ellipsometer and from the measured optical constants the spectral properties such as reflectance and transmittance were simulated in the visible region. The reflectance of ARAS films on glass substrate was below 0.8 %R and the transmittance was higher than 95 % in the visible wavelength (400-700 nm). The measured AR spectral properties was very similar to its simulated results.

  • Efficient electrodes are devised for organic luminescent device(OLED). ITO electrode is treated with $O_2$ plasma. In order to inject hole efficiently, there is proposed the shape of anode that inserted plasma polymerized films as buffer layer between anode and organic layer using thiophene monomer. In the case of device inserted the buffer layer by using the plasma polymerization after $O_2$ plasma processing for ITO transparent electrode, since it forms the stable interface and reduce the moving speed of hole, the recombination of hole and electronic are made in the emitting layer. Therefore it realized the device capability of two times in the aspect of luminous efficiency than the device which do not be inserted the buffer layer. Experiments are limited to the device that has the structure of TPD/$AIq_3$, however, the aforementioned electrodes can similarly applied to the organic luminous device and the Polymer luminous device.

  • The dielectric layers in AC plasma display panel(AC PDP) are essential to the discharge cell structure, because they protect metal electrodes from sputtering by positive ion and from a sheath of wall charges which are essential to memory function of AC PDP. Furthermore, this layer should be transparent because the visible light must pass through the layer. In this paper, the dielectric breakdown strength and transparency of the dielectric layer on the discharge electrodes are studied. The variables in this test are the dielectric layer thickness, dielectric firing condition, gas pressure, species of gas and so on.

Content production method based on OLED film and dual layer display system

  • It is common practice to display high-quality video images on the large display among the methods of developing tourist attractions and culture in the region as experience contents differentiation is required. This paper combines the local attractions with the OLED dual layer display system and the extended image implementation and augmented interaction technique to give the experiencer a realistic space, such as directing to new experiences and beautiful sights. In this paper, we added UI layer to additional layers of images to enable users to experience sightseeing information, weather, maps, accommodation, festivals and photo materials with images. It is implemented to add fun through interlocking. We also developed transparent OLED and dual layer panel and 3-channel multi-image playback technique.

  • 지역의 관광지 및 문화를 체험 콘텐츠로 개발하는 방법 중 고화질의 비디오 영상을 대형 디스플레이에 표시하는 게 일반적인 방식으로 체험자의 능동적 참여와 다른 지역의 영상 체험과의 특별한 차별성이 필요하게 된다. 본 논문은 단분자 OLED와 능동형을 사용하여 지역의 명소를 투명 OLED 듀얼 레이어 디스플레이 시스템과 확장형 영상 구현 및 증강형 인터렉션 기법을 융합하여 체험자에게 새로운 경험과 아름다운 명소에 직접 와 있는 것과 같은 현실감 있는 체험을 제공 한다. 본 논문에서는 영상의 레이어에 추가적인 영상과 UI 레이어를 입혀 관광지 정보, 날씨, 지도, 숙박, 축제, 사진 자료등을 영상과 함께 체험할 수 있도록 하였으며, 듀얼 레이어 시스템 외에 추가로 양단에 세로형 55인치 디스플레이를 보조적으로 각각 1대씩 추가 연동하는 멀티 디스플레이 시스템을 더해 체험자에게 웅장한 몰입감과 인터페이스 연동의 재미를 더할 수 있도록 구현하였으며, 투명 OLED 및 듀얼 레이어 패널과 3채널 멀티 영상 재생 기법을 활용하여 한국의 전라남도 지역의 명소를 시공간의 제약 없이 상시 체험 가능한 증강형 체험 콘텐츠을 개발하였다.

  • Thin-film transistors (TFT) have become the key components of electronic and optoelectronic devices. Most conventional thin-film field-effect transistors in display applications use an amorphous or polycrystal Si:H layer as the channel. This silicon layers are opaque in the visible range and severely restrict the amount of light detected by the observer due to its bandgap energy smaller than the visible light. Therefore, Si:H TFT devices reduce the efficiency of light transmittance and brightness. One method to increase the efficiency is to use the transparent oxides for the channel, electrode, and gate insulator. The development of transparent oxides for the components of thin-film field-effect transistors and the room-temperature fabrication with low voltage operations of the devices can offer the flexibility in designing the devices and contribute to the progress of next generation display technologies based on transparent displays and flexible displays. In this thesis, I report on the dc performance of transparent thin-film transistors using amorphous indium tin zinc oxides for an active layer. $SiO_2$ was employed as the gate dielectric oxide. The amorphous indium tin zinc oxides were deposited by RF magnetron sputtering. The carrier concentration of amorphous indium tin zinc oxides was controlled by oxygen pressure in the sputtering ambient. Devices are realized that display a threshold voltage of 4.17V and an on/off ration of ${\sim}10^9$ operated as an n-type enhancement mode with saturation mobility with $15.8\;cm^2/Vs$. In conclusion, the fabrication and characterization of thin-film transistors using amorphous indium tin zinc oxides for an active layer were reported. The devices were fabricated at room temperature by RF magnetron sputtering. The operation of the devices was an n-type enhancement mode with good saturation characteristics.

  • AZO(Aluminium-doped Zinc Oxide)는 기존의 LCD, OLED, 광센서, 유기태양전지 등의 투명전극에 널리 사용되는 ITO(Indium Tin Oxide)를 대체하기 위한 물질로 주목받고 있다. 본 연구에서는 유기태양전지의 투명 전극으로 많이 사용되는 ITO 를 대체하기 위해 원자층 증착(ALD) 공정의 저온 선택적 증착 특성을 이용하여 유연성 폴리머인 PEN 기판상에 AZO 투명전극을 직접 패턴방식으로 제조하고, 그 투명전극의 구조적, 전기적, 광학적 특성을 평가하였다. 전기적, 광학적 특성 결과들로부터 원자층 증작공정의 저온 선택적 증착 특성을 통해 형성된 AZO 투명전극의 유기태양전지로의 적용 가능성을 확인할 수 있었다.
