  • In this paper, we propose an optimal multi-hop transmission scheme to maximize the end-to-end data rate from the source to the destination node in a wireless powered communication network. The frame structure for multi-hop transmission is presented to transmit multi-hop data while harvesting energy. Then, the transmission time of each node that maximizes the end-to-end transmission rate is determined through mathematical analysis in consideration of different harvested energy and link quality among nodes. We derive an optimization problem through system modeling of the considered wireless powered multi-hop transmission, and prove that there is a global optimal solution by verifying the convexity of this optimization problem. This analysis facilitates to find the optimal solution of the considered optimization problem. The proposed optimal multi-hop transmission scheme maximizes the end-to-end rate by allocating the transmission time for each node that equalizes the transmission rates of all links.

  • Acoustic communication system is a transmission technology sending sound and data simultaneously. However, data signal can be audible in this system when data is transmitted with high transmission power. The more transmission power is reduced, the more distance that can transmit data is shortened. Therefore, the study that increase the transmission distance is needed. In this paper, we would like to increase transmission distance by adapting receive diversity in acoustic communication system. We measure received performance of both proposed system and Single Input Sing Output (SISO) system according to distance with same transmission power. When SISO satisfies Bit Error Rate (BER) of $7{\times}10^{-3}$ at about 2m, Selection Combining (SC) technique satisfies 2 meters, and Equal Gain Combining (EGC) technique satisfies 4 meters.

  • In the model Utilizing the TCP / IP socket communication to transmit and receive data, if the size of data is small and if data-transmission aren't frequently requested, the importance of communication speed between a server and a client isn't emphasized. But nowadays, it has emerged for large amounts of data transfer requests and frequent data transfer request. This paper propose the TCP/IP communication model that can be improved the data transfer rate in multi-core environment by changing the receiving structure of the client to receive large amounts of data and the transmission structure of the server to send large amounts of data.

  • In this paper, we propose a prgressive image transmission technique using hierarchical pyramid data structure which is constructed based on the projection data of an image. To construct hierarchical Gaussian pyramids, we first divide an image into 4$\times$4 subblocks and generate the projection data of each block along the horizontal, vertical, diagonal, and antidiagonal directions. Among images reconstructed by backprojecting the projection data along a single direction, the one giving the minimum distortion is selected. The Gaussian pyramid is recursively generated by the proposed algorithm and the proposed Gaussian images are shown to preserve edge information well. Also, based on the projection concept a new transmission scheme of the lowest Laplacian plane is presented. Computer simulation shows that the quantitative performance of the proposed pyramid coding technique using projection concept is similar to those of the conventional methods with transmission rate reduced by 0.1 ~ 0.2 bpp and its subjective performance is shown to be better due to the edge preserving property of a projection operation.

  • Vehicular networks are part of the next generation wireless and smart Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). In the future, autonomous vehicles will be an integral part of ITS and will provide safe and reliable traveling features to the users. The reliability and security of data transmission in vehicular networks has been a challenging task. To manage data transmission in vehicular networks, road networks are divided into clusters and a cluster head is selected to handle the data. The selection of cluster heads is a challenge as vehicles are mobile and their connectivity is dynamically changing. In this paper, a novel secure cluster head selection algorithm is proposed for secure and reliable data sharing. The idea is to use the secrecy rate of each vehicle in the cluster and adaptively select the most secure vehicle as the cluster head. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme improves the reliability and security of the transmission significantly.

  • In this paper, we propose a new DPCM-based transmission scheme for flight data. The amount of the flight data from LRU to MC has been increased due to the emergence and development of avionics systems and functions. It becomes a serious issue for satisfying the hard real-time processing required in the MC. In order to solve this problem, we observed the flight data produced by X-Plane simulator and discovered that the most flight data are moderately varied during flight. Based on this fact, a new data format is suggested by modifying that of ARINC-429 protocol in this paper. And the different value of the flight data is transmitted in the proposed scheme. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme achieves 20% data transfer gain compared to the ARINC-429 based transmission method.

  • Energy constraint of wireless sensor networks makes energy saving and prolonging the network lifetime become the most important goals of routing protocols. In this paper, we propose an Energy Efficient Chain-based Routing Protocol (EECRP) for wireless sensor networks to minimize energy consumption and transmission delay. EECRP organizes sensor nodes into a set of horizontal chains and a vertical chain. Chain heads are elected based on the residual energy of nodes and distance from the header of upper level. In each horizontal chain, sensor nodes transmit their data to their own chain head based on chain routing mechanism. EECRP also adopts a chain-based data transmission mechanism for sending data packets from the chain heads to the base station. The simulation results show that EECRP outperforms LEACH, PEGASIS and ECCP in terms of network lifetime, energy consumption, number of data messages received at the base station, transmission delay and especially energy${\times}$delay metric.

  • For pneumatic system control, we need a data transmission system with high speed and reliability for information interchange between main computer and I/O devices. This paper presents a set of design techniques for a data communication system that is mainly used for pneumatic system control. For this purpose, we first designed hardware modules for an interface between central control module and local node that handles the operation of solenoid valves. In addition, we developed a communication protocol for construction of RS-485 based multi-drop network, and this protocol is basically designed with a kind of polling technique. Finally we evaluated performance of the developed system. The field test results show that, even under high noise environment, the data transmission of 375Kbps rate is ...

  • This paper introduces and analyzes SAE J2716 SENT (Single Edge Nibble Transmission) protocol, a technical standard for serial transmission of digital sensor data in automotive applications. SENT can transmit both high-speed sensor data and low-speed sensor data in one data frame and has a total of 6 transmission modes, including 3 high-speed channel modes and 3 low-speed channel modes. In this paper, a SENT controller that supports all six modes of the SENT protocol was designed in Verilog HDL, implemented in FPGA, and verified with an oscilloscope and PC.

  • In the adaptable bandwidth allocation technique, a transmission plan for variable rate video data is made by the CBA algorithm and the data is transmitted by considering network traffic. But the CBA algorithm produces a transmission plan where the size of the increasing interval of transmission rate is generally larger than the size of the decreasing interval. And the transmission rate in CBA algorithm is changed in overflow curve during the increasing interval of transmission rate. This ぉy cause many frames to be discarded when available transmission rate is small. In this paper, a smoothing algorithm is proposed, where transmission rate is changed in the middle of underflow curve and overflow curve, but the transmission rate increases at the minimum. In order to show the performance, the proposed algorithm and a CBA algorithm were applied to a transmission plan in the adaptable bandwidth allocation technique, and the minimum frame rates, the average frame rates, the variation of frame rates, and the numbers of discarded frames were compared in both algorithms.
