The introduction of competition in electricity markets emphasizes the importance of sufficient transmission capacities to guarantee effective power transactions. Therefore, for the economic and stable electric power system operation, transmission security constrains should be incorporated into the dispatch scheduling problem. With the intent to solve this problem, we decompose a dispatch scheduling problem into a master problem(MP) and several subproblems(SPs) using Benders decomposition. The MP solves a general optimal power flow(OPF) problem while the SPs inspect the feasibility of OPF solution under respective transmission line contingencies. If a dispatch scheduling solution given by the MP violates transmission security constraints, then additional constraints corresponding to the violations are imposed to the MP. Through this iterative process between the MP and SPs, we derive an optimal dispatch schedule incorporating the post-contingency corrective rescheduling. In addition, we consider interruptible loads as active control variables since the interruptible loads can participate as generators in competitive electricity markets. Numerical examples demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed algorithm.

In this paper, we present a new sensing method based on phase entropy. Entropy is a measurement which quantifies the information content contained in a signal. For the PSK modulation, the information is encoded in the phase of the transmitted signal. By focusing on phase, more information is collected during sensing, which suggests a superior performance. The sensing based on Phase entropy is not limited to PSK signal. We generalize it to PAM signal as well. It is more advantageous to detect the phase. The simulation results have confirmed the excellent performance of this novel sensing algorithm.
We present the analysis of phase-shifted fiber Bragg gratings by coupled-mode equations. The transmission is expressed as that of a Fabry-Perot resonator with complex reflectance and complex transmittance. The transmission spectrum, the effective cavity length, and the behaviors with different phase-shifts are investigated. A very flattered transmission peak is obtained by introducing three phase-shifts in a grating.
In this paper, we investigate maximum transmission capacity of wireless ad-hoc networks. In the investigation, we consider a network topology with regularly located nodes. For the topology, we investigate the maximum transmission capacity with RTS/CTS medium access protocol, and next, we study the maximum transmission capacity without the protocol. We see that the results of our study overall follows the result of Gupta and Kumar's research.
High speed optical fiber transmission technology has been remarkably improved during the past 20 years. This paper presents recent research status and future technological issues for the future information society, that is, the Tb/s transmission by frequency division multiplexing and the ultra long-distance by optical soliton transmission. Erbium-doped fiber amplifier and recent optical technology have brought optical transmission system of up to 10 Gb/s to the point of commercialization. Taking into account the future super information highway, that is, B-ISDN network, ultra wide-band picture-based information can be provided for many subscribers via existing optical fiber cables. However, to achieve the high speed transmission, the technologies must be developed not only for transmission lines but also for transmission nodes. Since the conventional signal transmission/processing technique using electronics has the limit in its speed, novel photonic technology is being developed for this purpose. On the other hand, optical solitons propagate stably through optical fibers, without pulse broadening effect of the fiber dispersion. Since the pulse broadening effect becomes serious as the transmission speed increases, optical solitons is the important technologies to realize the high speed, long distance transmission.

Transmission tower structures are particularly susceptible to damage and even collapse under strong seismic ground motions. Conventional seismic analyses of transmission towers are usually performed by considering only ground motion uncertainty while ignoring structural uncertainty; consequently, the performance evaluation and failure prediction may be inaccurate. In this context, the present study numerically investigates the seismic responses and failure mechanism of transmission towers by considering multiple sources of uncertainty. To this end, an existing transmission tower is chosen, and the corresponding three-dimensional finite element model is created in ABAQUS software. Sensitivity analysis is carried out to identify the relative importance of the uncertain parameters in the seismic responses of transmission towers. The numerical results indicate that the impacts of the structural damping ratio, elastic modulus and yield strength on the seismic responses of the transmission tower are relatively large. Subsequently, a set of 20 uncertainty models are established based on random samples of various parameter combinations generated by the Latin hypercube sampling (LHS) method. An uncertainty analysis is performed for these uncertainty models to clarify the impacts of uncertain structural factors on the seismic responses and failure mechanism (ultimate bearing capacity and failure path). The numerical results show that structural uncertainty has a significant influence on the seismic responses and failure mechanism of transmission towers; different possible failure paths exist for the uncertainty models, whereas only one exists for the deterministic model, and the ultimate bearing capacity of transmission towers is more sensitive to the variation in material parameters than that in geometrical parameters. This research is expected to provide an in-depth understanding of the influence of structural uncertainty on the seismic demand assessment of transmission towers.

This paper considers a scenario that more D2D users exist in the cell, they compete for cellular resources to increase their own data rates, which may cause transmission interference to cellular users (CU) and the unfairness of resource allocation. We design a resource allocation scheme for selfish D2D users assisted by cooperative relay technique which is used to further enhance the users' transmission rates, meanwhile guarantee the QoS requirement of the CUs. Two transmission modes are considered for D2D users: direct transmission mode and cooperative relay transmission mode, both of which reuses the cellular uplink frequency resources. To ensure the fairness of resource distribution, Nash bargaining theory is used to determine the transmission mode and solve the bandwidth allocation problem for D2D users choosing cooperative relay transmission mode, and coalition formation game theory is used to solve the uplink frequency sharing problem between D2D users and CUs through a new defined "Selfish order". Through theoretical analysis, we obtain the closed Nash bargaining solution under CUs' rate constraints, and prove the stability of the formatted coalition. Simulation results show that the proposed resource allocation approach achieves better performance on resource allocation fairness, with only little sacrifice on the system sum rates.

In this paper, we propose a relay-based wireless power transmission scheme in order to solve the problems of an existing wired power transmission for energy harvesting system. The proposed scheme can be transferred electromagnetic induction-based wireless power transmission by placing a 4-way coils in the energy block. We confirm the reliability of the electricity transmission through the relay control algorithm. Consequently, the proposed scheme can extend the transmit receive paths of transmission power.
