Performance Analysis of Chromatic Dispersion Compensation of a Chirped Fiber Grating on a Differential Phase-shift-keyed Transmission

  • The properties of the chirped fiber Bragg grating (CFBG) as a chromatic dispersion compensator in differential phase-shift-keyed (DPSK) transmission are analyzed. Comparisons of a performance of a CFBG in between DPSK and On-Off Key (OOK) are shown by simulations using the commercial numerical modeling software, $OptSim^{TM}$. In the simulation, we compared the performance of the CFBG when they were used in the RZ-OOK 40 Gbps and the RZ-DPSK 40 Gbps transmission. The simulation results show the performance of an overall transmission with a CFBG in DPSK is inferior to the case of OOK, although DPSK generally has a 3 dB higher SNR (signal-to-noise ratio) than OOK.

Design of Planar Microwave Bandstop Filters by Control of Wave Propagation on Nonuniform Transmission Line

  • A design method is newly presented for the creation of planar type filters which shapes will be nonuniform transmission line with continuously varying characteristic impedances. Those filters yield frequency characteristics of the bandstop filter in transmission, and have not nay discontinuities. The design is achieved by the control of wave propagation in view to both reflection an transmission properties on the dispersive nonuniform line within the desired frequency band. The developed algorithm is based on optimized perturbations of inherent nulls of lobes from the solution of first-order nonlinear differential equation for reflection coefficients of the nonuniform line, and an appropriate distribution of reflection coefficient which affects to filter length and bandwidth. Practical measurements for designed wideband microstrip and stop filter show very good agreement with theoretical results.

수동휠체어의 변속 기능이 추진 동작에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Manual Wheelchairs' Transmission on the Propulsion Motion)

  • This work intends to investigate the effects of shift characteristics on the propulsion performance of a manual wheelchair with an automatic transmission. A planetary gear train is employed to generate a two-stage shift automatically, based on the distance traveled from rest. Motion analysis has been performed for measuring kinematic properties of the arm and then the inverse dynamics has been applied for estimating joint forces/torques. Then, a parametric study has been performed to find a set of the shift ratios and the shift intervals for optimizing propulsion performance. Results show that the propulsion performance is closely related to the shift condition. It is found that a short shift interval is desirable for a short distance propulsion. However, an optimum shift interval for a long distance propulsion is inversely proportional to the shift ratio approximately. Consequently, the automatic transmission can greatly lower the joint loadings by the speed reduction, which eventually contribute to prevent joint injuries of wheelchair users.

SEA 기법을 이용한 저중량 대시판넬 흡,차음재 성능에 대한 연구 (Acoustic Study of light weight insulation system on Dash using SEA technique)

  • In this paper Statistical Energy Analysis has been considered to predict high frequency air borne interior noise. Dash panel Insulation is major part to reduce engine excitation noise. Transmission loss and absorption coefficient are considered to predict dash insulation performance. Transmission lose is derived from coupling loss factor and absorption coefficient is derived from internal damping loss factor. Material Biot properties were used to calculate each loss factors. Insulation geometry thickness distribution was hard to measure, so FeGate software was used to calculate thickness map from CAD drawing. Each predicted transmission losses between conventional insulation and light weight insulation were compared with SEA. Transmission loss measurement was performed to validate each prediction result, and it showed good correlation between prediction and measurement. Finally interior noise prediction was performed and result showed light weight insulation system can reduce 40% weight to keep similar performance with conventional insulation system, even though light weigh insulation system has lower sound transmission loss and higher absorption coefficient than conventional system.

Layer-by-layer assembled graphene oxide films and barrier properties of thermally reduced graphene oxide membranes

  • In this study, we present a facile method of fabricating graphene oxide (GO) films on the surface of polyimide (PI) via layer-by-layer (LBL) assembly of charged GO. The positively charged amino-phenyl functionalized GO (APGO) is alternatively complexed with the negatively charged GO through an electrostatic LBL assembly process. Furthermore, we investigated the water vapor transmission rate and oxygen transmission rate of the prepared (reduced GO $[rGO]/rAPGO)_{10}$ deposited PI film (rGO/rAPGO/PI) and pure PI film. The water vapor transmission rate of the GO and APGO-coated PI composite film was increased due to the intrinsically hydrophilic property of the charged composite films. However, the oxygen transmission rate was decreased from 220 to 78 $cm^3/m^2{\cdot}day{\cdot}atm$, due to the barrier effect of the graphene films on the PI surface. Since the proposed method allows for large-scale production of graphene films, it is considered to have potential for utilization in various applications.

차음재의 음향투과손실 측정에 Two-Microphone Impedance Tube Method의 적용과 한계 (The Limit and Application of Two-microphone Impedance Tube Method to the Sound Transmission Loss Measurement of Sound Isolation Materials)

  • This study describes the limit and application of the two-microphone impedance tube method to the sound transmission loss measurement of several sound isolation materials with different physical properties. For the sound isolation materials having small flexural rigidity, it is shown that the two-microphone impedance tube method is validated to practically measure the sound transmission loss. For the sound isolation materials having large flexural rigidity, on the other hand, it is found that the two-microphone impedance tube method is no longer valid to measure the sound transmission loss because the regions of resonance and mass law are moved into the higher frequencies. In addition, in order to accurately measure the sound transmission loss of sound isolation materials, their size should be decided based on the consideration of the effect of acoustic excitation on their vibration response.

  • The one of the most important thing for the successful realization of display functions in modern exhibition activities is based on exhibition space and the information communication between designers and visitors. Therefore, the information transmission has become an important function of modern exhibition activities. How to transmit information effectively is the key factor of successful exhibition design. However, 'people flow' and 'transportation' are taken as the main issues for a lot of the design works in space design of exhibition. But the information transmission is seldom taken into account as an important factor. The ultimate objective of exhibition design is to transmit the exhibits' information effectively to visitors, so the effective transmission of exhibiting information becomes the most important criteria in exhibition design. The successful exhibition can be well designed through information transmission by means of material objects, a lighting, properties, sounds, color, performance, etc The successful effects of the exhibition also depends on a great extent of the display design and a modeling in exhibition space. Modern exhibition design is getting more importance on the research on forms including basic features and exhibition space relations of forms. This research discusses on the design method that is favorable to information transmission In order to deal with the factor of display and modeling in exhibition space.

적응형 위성통신 시스템 설계를 위한 동적 강우 감쇠 모델 (A Dynamic Rain Attenuation Model for Adaptive Satellite Communication Systems)

  • 고주파수 대역을 사용하는 위성통신 시스템의 링크 성능 저하의 가장 큰 요인 중의 하나가 강우 감쇠라고 할 수 있으며, 이러한 강우 감쇠를 보상하기 위한 가장 효율적인 방법으로써, 적응형 전송방식을 사용하고 있다. 강우 감쇠에 대처하기 위한 적응형 전송 방식을 개발하고 설계하는데 있어서 중요한 요소 중의 하나가 실제 발생하는 강우 감쇠에 대한 동적 시뮬레이션 모델이다. 본 논문에서는 초 단위 강우 감쇠 실측 데이터에 대한 통계치를 바탕으로 Markov 프로세스 모델을 이용하여 모델링하는 절차를 기술한다. 먼저 실측된 데이터의 통계적 특성을 추출하여 4가지 상태를 가지는 Markov 프로세스를 정의하고, 이를 이용하여 모델링된 데이터와 실측 데이터를 비교 분석한 결과를 제시한다.

  • 차세대 근거리 무선 통신망 및 무선 사설교환기 시스템들을 위해서 2.5GHz 대역의 주파수대역이 광범위하게 사용될 것이 기대된다. 이러한 시스템을 옥내에 설치하여 효율적으로 운용하기 위해서는 전파의 전파 특성의 이해가 중요하다 하겠다. 이 주파수대역의 파장의 길이가 건물의 크기에 비해 상당히 작으므로 광추적 기법을 이용한 전파 전파 예측방식이 많이 개발되고 있다. 그러나 광추적 기법의 정확도는 샐내외 벽에서 전파의 반사 및 투과 특성에 의존하는 바가 상당하다. 이에 본 논문에서는 현대 건축물에 흔히 많이 쓰이는 석고보드 벽과 시멘트 블록 벽의 전자파 특성을 이론적 및 실험적으로 분석하였다.

CRLH 전송선로 대칭구조의 이중모드 평형 필터 (Dual-Mode Balanced Filter in Symmetric Composite Right/Left-Handed Transmission Line Structure)

  • 본 논문은 대칭 구조의 CRLH 전송선로를 바탕으로 이중모드에서 동작하는 평형 필터 설계를 제안한 것이다. 기존의 대칭 구조와는 다르게 이 구조에서는 공통 모드와 차동 모드의 이중모드에서 동작한다. 이러한 성질은 이 구조의 대칭면에 단락회로를 그라운드 비아에 의해서 동작되도록 구현하였다. 이렇게 하면 공통 모드와 차동 모드에서 모두 동작하는 특성을 얻을 수 있으며, 이러한 성질을 이용하여 평형 필터를 구현하였다. 이러한 특징들을 확인하기 위하여 5개의 대칭 CRLH 단위 셀로 시뮬레이션, 제작 및 측정을 하여 공통 모드와 차동 모드에서 동일하게 동작하는 평형 필터의 특성을 얻었다.
