  • This paper proposes a new TPC (Transmission Priority Change) algorithm which is used to diagnose failures of a CAN (Controller Area Network) based network system for the oil tank monitoring. The TPC algorithm is aimed to increase the total amount of data transmission and to minimize the latency for an urgent message by changing transmission priority. The urgency of the data transmission has been determined by the conditions of sensors. There are multiple sensors inside of the oil tank, such as temperature, valve, pressure and level sensors. When the sensors operate normally, the sensory data can be collected through the CAN network by the monitoring system. However when there is a dangerous situation or failure situation happened at a sensor, the data need to be handled quickly by the monitoring system, which is implemented by using the TPC algorithm. The effectiveness of the TPC algorithm has been verified by the real experiments. In addition, this paper introduces a method that people can figure out the condition of oil tanks and also can perform the fault diagnosis in real-time by using transmitted packet data. By applying this TPC algorithm to various industries, the convenience and reliability of multiple sensors network system can be improved.

  • Capacity is a traditional issue in wireless network and is closely related to the service quality of network providers, therefore it is a main interest of them. Especially, when a big match of sport game or a special event are held in a place and a large crowd temporarily gathers, a need of big transmission capacity greater than usual usage in the area is required, where network providers need a scheme to temporarily expand network capacity in any specified area. This paper focuses on temporary expansion of wireless network capacity for such situations. In this paper, we first investigate maximum transmission capacity of wireless ad-hoc networks. In the investigation, we consider a network topology with regularly located nodes. For the topology, we investigate the maximum transmission capacity with RTS/CTS medium access protocol, and then we study the maximum transmission capacity without the protocol. Next, we propose a scheme to expand network capacity and analyze the performance of the proposed scheme. From the results of analysis, we see that our proposed scheme is effective for temporary expansion of wireless network capacity.

  • MANTET(Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks), which is configured and operated by each terminals with no support of communication infra-structures, is recently expanded its application fields from terrestrial communications to underwater environments with technical advances of Wi/Fi and minimized portable terminals. Underwater sensor network, undersea environment explorations and probes, information transmission for underwater area, etc., is typical application fields of underwater MANET. Especially, Performance measurement and analysis on this application fields is one of important research area and base of design, implementation and operation for underwater MANET. However, the research results are focued on various transmission parameters on network level, and its objects of analysis are also performance of network level. In this paper, transmission performances for application levels are measured and analyzed for user levels on underwater MANET. In this study, voice traffic is assumed as object application traffic, computer simulation which is based on NS-2 having additional implemented functions for underwater communications is used. on some defined scale of MANET, transmission performances according to varying traffic environments are measured and analyzed, operation conditions on underwater MANET is suggested with the analysis.

  • In this paper we proposed a hopping routing scheme to resolve the hot spot problem for periodic monitoring services in wireless sensor networks. Our hopping routing scheme constructs load balanced routing path, where an amount of energy consumption of all nodes in the sensor networks is predictable. Load balanced routing paths can be obtained from horizontal hopping transmission scheme which balances the load of the sensor nodes in the same area, and also from vertical hopping transmission scheme which balances the load of the sensor nodes in the other area. The direct transmission count numbers as load balancing parameter for vertical hopping transmission are derived using the energy consumption model of the sensor nodes. The experimental results show that the proposed hopping scheme resolves the hot spot problem effectively. The efficiency of hopping routing scheme is also shown by comparison with other routing scheme such as multi-hop, direct transmission and clustering.

  • Bluetooth is a promising wireless personal area network technology and is on the verge of being ubiquitously deployed over wide range of devices. This paper aims to implement a wireless network for image transmission using Bluetooth technology. The characteristics of Bluetooth are small size, low band width and low power consumption, However, there are some difficulties in implementing a wireless radio network using Bluetooth since a lot of repeaters may needed when Bluetooth depends a role of host on personal computer for data transmission. In this paper, a method to implement a wireless radio network is proposed and applied for image transmission using a small size microprocessor for each Bluetooth.

  • Laser bonding between similar and dissimilar thermoplastics has been investigated by making use of laser transmission weld technique. Spot welding of two layers of plastic materials has been demonstrated by using of a high-quality diode-laser with 808nm wavelength. Weld areas increases according to power density, exposure time. The results of peel out test show that peel strengths increase with the area of molten plastics. Layers, which have the same chemical properties, have good bonding qualities. A bonding method which dye film is coated on the interface is used for laser bonding between plastics with high transmission for laser wavelength. Laser transmission bonding is worthy of attention because it is not in contact, requires a few tooling devices, allows a flexible energy delivery and produces nearly invisible welds

  • In order to streamline the procedure of data transmission in port and logistics industries, MOMAF introduced EDI systems as the method of data transmission of 19 documents 5 years ago. While operating EDI system, MOMAF has found the inconvenience and the inefficiency of using EDI systems in the field of requesting fast response. This thesis focuses on finding the possible fields of on-line processing system instead of EDI system and suggests the economic effects occurred by the on-line processing system. The result of the paper presents that if data transmission area such as 'ocean vessel entrance report', 'application for using tug boat'and 'application for pilot'is changed to on-line processing method, the processing cost and time will be reduced compared with EDI processing method.

  • The tensile strength of an overhead transmission line's conductor in response to an aging is being assessed in this paper. It is our view that, the decrement in the conductor's tensile strength is a key index that can be used to determine a conductor's end of life and a current limits. This paper describes a probabilistic method of assessing this index for main transmission lines which are responsible for the north bound power flow in the Seoul metropolitan area. Such an assessment can be a useful guide for economic system operation.

  • We have developed a remote diagnosis system using the LAN and MODEM which enables a routine check for a patient remotely. We used $LabVIEW^{TM}$ as the programing development tool and DAQ (Data Aquisition) board from National Instrument for data aquisition. The LAN card and MODEM are used for the transmission of patient's data. A patient data are aquired by DAQ board and signal processing is done by $LabVIEW^{TM}$, which is a graphical prgamming language. Two methods for the data of transmission. One is the Client-Server model using TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Address) in the LAN (Local Area Network) Another is using MODEM to transmit the measured data from a patient. In this case, the data transmission is accomplished by the FTP (File Transfer Protocol).

  • Recently, underground transmission system is growing continuously according to the electric power demand increase in the downtown area. Even if domestic cable makers are manufacturing 154kV oil filled cable and joint, the design technology of cable-joint has not been fully self-reliance. This study is aimed at the detail heat transfer analysis of 154kV cable-joint. So, that is cut into the five sections in order to analyze a conjugate natural convection in two dimensional $r-{\theta}$ coordinate. The streamline and temperature distributions are obtained for each sections. Also the changes of those are analyzed with respect to the variation of transmission currents and cable-joint surface heat transfer coefficients. The same analyses are also shown in view point of the maximum temperature of conductor and local equivalent conductivity.
