  • In this work, transient characteristics of NPT(Non Punch Through)-IGBT(Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor) have been studied with different temperatures analytically. Power losses are caused by heat generated in MIT-IGBT for steady state and transient state conditions. We therefore have focused on the analysis of excess carrier concentration and excess charge injected into N-drift layer with different temperatures and have obtained anode voltage drop during turn-off with lifetime of 2.4[${\mu}$s].

  • In this paper, the transient shielding characteristics of slitted electrothermal shield of superconducting alternator is studied. The field current and the armature currents variations during three phase short circuit fault are calculated and compared to those of the conventional one. And the response of the armature current due to step-up of the excitation voltage showes the feasibility of the quick response excitation system available for improving the transient stability.

  • Simplified approach has been adopted for the prediction of the thermal behavior of CANDU reactor core during power transients. Based on the assumption that the ratio of mass flow rate for each core channel does not vary during the transient, quasy-steady state analysis technique is applied with predicted core inlet boundary conditions(total mass flow rate and specific enthalpy). For restricted transient case, the presented method shows functionally reasonable estimation of core thermal behavior which could be implemented in the fast running reactor simulation program.

  • This paper presents a new algorithm using power flow solution which is given by the polar form Newton-Raphson method in a transient stability analysis. The computation time to solve network equations can be much saved by a decoupled power flow method. In addition, the time is much saved in performing a approximate stability analysis by linearizing the differential equations and using a voltage and angle sensitivity matrix given in network equations.

터보차져의 로터다이나믹 해석모델 개발 및 진동응답 해석 (Development of Rotordynamic Analytical Model and Analysis of Vibration Response of a Turbocharger)

  • This paper deals with the development of analytical model of a turbocharger and its detail rotordynamic analysis. Two analytical models, which are verified by experimental modal testing, are proposed and the analytical model including rotor shaft extended to compressor and turbine wheel end side is chosen. A rotordynamic analysis includes the critical map, Campbell diagram, stability, and unbalance response, especially nonlinear transient response considering nonlinear fluid film force at bearings. Although the linearized analysis accurately predicts the critical speeds, stability limit, and stability threshold speed, the predicted vibration results are not valid for speeds above the stability threshold speed since the rotor vibrates with a subsynchronous component much larger than the one synchronous with rotor speed. Hence, for operating speed above the stability threshold, a nonlinear transient analysis considering nonlinear fluid film force must be performed in order to accurately predict vibration responses of rotor and guarantee results of analysis.

항공기용 서스펜션 장비의 천이구조하중해석에 대한 연구 (Study on Transient Structural Load Analysis of Aircraft Suspension Equipment)

  • In this study, a transient structural load analysis system was constructed to calculate the applied load on the suspension equipment corresponding to the aircraft flight conditions based on military specifications. Aircraft flight data (altitude, velocity, acceleration, angle of attack and etc. at aircraft center of gravity) were used as input parameters and the calculated load of the suspension equipment at wings on the left and right side was printed out for the structural load analysis. As a calculation procedure, first of all, load analysis was carried out at the center of gravity of the external store, Secondly, a trial reaction force analysis was conducted on hook and swaybrace of suspension equipment. All procedure of calculations was programed to analyze the structural load automatically. To verify the numerical results, structural load analysis using the experimental flight data was performed.

  • 핵연료봉의 과도상태 출력준위는 핵연료봉의 과도상태 거동에서 가장 중요한 변수중의 하나이다. 핵연료 성능 데이타베이스의 분석과 핵연료의 과도상태 거동에 영향을 줄 수 있는 핵연료봉 출력이력, 속중성자속, 농축도 및 주기길이 등의 인자들의 민감도 분석을 통해서, ANS 과도조건 I 및 II에서 핵연료봉의 기계적 건전성이 유지되는 허용가능 과도상태 출력을 구하기 위해 일반적으로 적용이 가능한 방법론이 유도되었으며, 이를 통해 17$\times$17 KOFA 핵연료봉의 허용가능 과도상태 출력이 연소도의 함수로써 결정되었다. 이 방법론을 도입함으로써, 현재와 같이 매 주기마다 핵연료봉 과도상태 설계분석을 수행할 필요가 없이 단지 해당주기에서의 과도상태 최대 출력준위 평가로써 핵연료봉의 과도상태 설계를 대체할 수 있으며, 17$\times$17 KOFA 핵연료에 대하 낮은 연소도영역에서 기존의 최대 허용 과도상태 출력 준위인 591 w/cm보다 큰 최대 689.5 w/cm까지 허용함으로써 원자로 운전에 유연성을 줄 수 있다.

  • 형태(from), 층(layer), 격자(grid) 등의 요소들이 고려되는 스페이스프레임 구조는 내부기둥 없이 대공간 연출이 가능하고, 대다수의 부재들이 210MPa에서 450MPa의 항복강도를 가진 강재들이 사용된다. 최근 국내에서 용접성과 내진성 및 경제성이 확보하고 제작 효율이 높은 항복강도 690MPa이상의 고강도 강재가 개발되고 있다. 본 연구는 스페이스 프레임 구조시스템에 위와 같은 장점을 가진 고강도 강재를 적용하여 구조물의 동적응답을 알아보기 위한 내용이며, 재료 및 기하학적 비선형성에 의한 스페이스 프레임의 구조적 성능을 해석적으로 규명하고자 한다. 이를 위해 각 형태에 따른 스페이스 프레임 구조물의 모드해석 및 비선형 과도해석 등의 유한요소 해석을 수행하였다.

Integrated fire dynamics and thermomechanical modeling framework for steel-concrete composite structures

  • The objective of this study is to formulate a general 3D material-structural analysis framework for the thermomechanical behavior of steel-concrete structures in a fire environment. The proposed analysis framework consists of three sequential modeling parts: fire dynamics simulation, heat transfer analysis, and a thermomechanical stress analysis of the structure. The first modeling part consists of applying the NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) where coupled CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) with thermodynamics are combined to realistically model the fire progression within the steel-concrete structure. The goal is to generate the spatial-temporal (ST) solution variables (temperature, heat flux) on the surfaces of the structure. The FDS-ST solutions are generated in a discrete form. Continuous FDS-ST approximations are then developed to represent the temperature or heat-flux at any given time or point within the structure. An extensive numerical study is carried out to examine the best ST approximation functions that strike a balance between accuracy and simplicity. The second modeling part consists of a finite-element (FE) transient heat analysis of the structure using the continuous FDS-ST surface variables as prescribed thermal boundary conditions. The third modeling part is a thermomechanical FE structural analysis using both nonlinear material and geometry. The temperature history from the second modeling part is used at all nodal points. The ABAQUS (2003) FE code is used with external user subroutines for the second and third simulation parts in order to describe the specific heat temperature nonlinear dependency that drastically affects the transient thermal solution especially for concrete materials. User subroutines are also developed to apply the continuous FDS-ST surface nodal boundary conditions in the transient heat FE analysis. The proposed modeling framework is applied to predict the temperature and deflection of the well-documented third Cardington fire test.
